'90s R&B rivals to unite for co-headlining tour with Oakland concert
The two singers are setting out on their first-ever co-headlining tour, named after their chart-topping 1998 duet 'The Boy Is Mine,' with a scheduled concert at Oakland Arena on Nov. 8.
Ticket presales begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 26. General sales start at 10 a.m. Friday, June 27.
The 24-stop arena tour is set to kick off on Oct. 16 in Cincinnati, with shows in cities such as Atlanta, Los Angeles and Brooklyn, before wrapping up in Houston on Dec. 7.
'This really is a full-circle moment,' Brandy said in a statement Tuesday, June 24. 'Monica and I coming together again isn't just about the music — it's about honoring where we came from and how far we've both come.'
Monica added that the tour 'is a celebration of our history, our impact, and the fans who have grown with us.'
It's been more than 25 years since the two artists released their record-breaking song, and it seems that they have managed to rise above their long-running feud, which stemmed from industry pressure, media comparison and a physical altercation at the 1998 MTV Video Music Awards.
Although the exact timing of their reconciliation is uncertain, Brandy and Monica teamed up last year to work with pop sensation Ariana Grande on a remix of 'The Boy Is Mine.' Grande's track, featured on her 2024 album 'Eternal Sunshine,' is an interpolation of Brandy and Monica's '90s hit of the same name.
Both also made cameos in Grande's accompanying music video, playing television newscasters, and went on to earn a Grammy nomination for best pop duo/group performance for the collaboration.
At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, they reunited for the first time since 2012's 'It All Belongs to Me' as part of the 'Verzus' quarantine series, which brought rap and R&B rivals face-to-face for an online audience.
During their 'Verzus' battle, Brandy and Monica expressed mutual respect and admiration, despite some moments of tension. Bay Area native Kamala Harris, who was campaigning for vice president at the time, even made a surprise video appearance on the live stream to thank the singers for their support of former First Lady Michelle Obama's When We All Vote

Travis Kelce's Reaction to Taylor Swift's Surprise Performance at TEU
Taylor Swift just performed live for the first time in months! The Grammy winner is currently in Nashville to support Travis Kelce during TEU (Tight End University), and showed up with Travis at the Brooklyn Bowl for the Tight Ends & Friends concert—where she stepped on stage and sang her 2014 mega-hit "Shake It Off." "We would like to dedicate this to our favorite players who are going to play and these are the tight ends," Tay said, before launching into the song as the crowd lost their minds. Oh, and she was introduced by Kane Brown, who told the audience that he was bringing out a "really, really, really special guest" before Tay strolled on stage and said "Theoretically, how loud can we get?" Here's Travis's POV which is very sweet: ^ Psst: Taylor is wearing EB Denim's Polka Dress in vintage black, but it's sadly sold out. A source told People of the appearance, "Taylor surprised the crowd by joining Kane Brown onstage for 'Shake It Off.' The crowd lost their minds! At the end of her performance she made sure to thank the band and gave each one of them a hug." The insider also said that when Travis and Taylor arrived at the event "they made their way upstairs there they chatted with the TEU athletes and guests. Travis and Taylor stayed by each other's side all while chit chatting and catching up with everyone." FYI, if you're still confused about the Tight End University of it all, turns out TEU is a three day training program co-founded by Travis where—according to Complex— "attendees are able to bond, collaborate with, and learn amongst their peers while participating in a variety of activities including film study, on-field drills, recovery, rehabilitation, and more."

Diddy trial updates: Closing arguments near in Sean Combs' sex-crimes case
This story contains graphic descriptions that some readers may find disturbing. Sean "Diddy" Combs' legal fate hangs in the balance as the music mogul's landmark criminal trial nears a close. After more than a month of harrowing testimony from several individuals in Combs' personal and professional orbit — from ex-girlfriends Casandra "Cassie" Ventura Fine and "Jane" to Danity Kane alum Dawn Richard and rap peer Kid Cudi — prosecutors rested their case in the sweeping federal sex-crimes proceeding on June 24. In their final round of arguments, attorneys for the U.S. government zeroed in on graphic evidence from Combs' alleged "freak off" sex parties, which included video footage, text messages and financial records. Prosecutors painted a picture of Combs and his employees being personally involved with organizing the elaborate sexual performances, working with escorts, Combs' partners and others. Meanwhile, Combs' attorneys rested their case in less than half an hour, with the defense opting not to call any witnesses to the stand. Their arguments mainly focused on romantic — and occasionally explicit — texts between Combs and Ventura Fine. Although Combs' alleged abuse is at the center of the trial, the Grammy-winning rapper told the court he would not be testifying. Judge Arun Subramanian asked Combs' lead lawyer Marc Agnifilo if he spoke with his client about his right to testify, and Agnifilo said they discussed it at length. Combs, 55, was arrested in September and charged with sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution. He has pleaded not guilty. Take a look back at some of the biggest moments from the trial, as well as where Combs' case stands. Diddy on trial newsletter: Step inside the courtroom as music mogul faces sex-crimes charges. What is Diddy charged with? Combs is facing federal sex-crimes and trafficking charges in a sprawling case that has eroded his status as a power player and kingmaker in the entertainment industry. He was arrested in September 2024 and later charged with racketeering, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution. The rapper has pleaded not guilty to the five counts against him. Discover WITNESS: Access our exclusive collection of true crime stories, podcasts, videos and more What is a RICO? Racketeering meaning Racketeering is the participation in an illegal scheme under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Statute, or RICO, as a way for the U.S. government to prosecute organizations that contribute to criminal activity. Using RICO law, which is typically aimed at targeting multi-person criminal organizations, prosecutors allege that Combs coerced victims, some of whom they say were sex workers, through intimidation and narcotics to participate in "freak offs" — sometimes dayslong sex performances that federal prosecutors allege they have on video. How to stream the Diddy trial The trial will not be televised, as cameras are typically not allowed in federal criminal trial proceedings. USA TODAY will be reporting live from the courtroom.
