‘Susu Borneo' syndicate from Sabah crippled

By: Bernama Text Size: MELAKA: Police have crippled a syndicate known as 'Susu Borneo' with the arrest of its four members, including a woman, on suspicion of stealing infant formula and powdered coffee worth RM12,600 from mini markets in Melaka, Negeri Sembilan and Pahang. Melaka Tengah Police Chief ACP Christopher Patit said the suspects, comprising a 50-year-old woman and three men aged between 23 and 33, were nabbed at a rented condominium in Kuala Lumpur around 12.05am on Aug 10. 'The arrests were made following two police reports lodged on Aug 2 regarding thefts at two mini markets in Taman Paya Emas and Bandar Baru Sungai Udang. 'He said based on intelligence gathered, the Criminal Investigation Department (D4) team from the Melaka Tengah Police Headquarters arrested two local males, as well as a Filipino man and woman,' he said in a press conference, Thursday. Christopher said a further probe led the police to locate the stolen formula milk at the condominium as well as in a car. He said the seized items included 72 boxes and 15 packets of infant formula, 12 tins of health milk and 22 packets of coffee drinks, as well as a car, four mobile phones, clothing, hats and tools believed to have been used in the thefts. 'This syndicate's modus operandi was to disguise themselves as customers, with the female suspect concealing the infant formula inside her clothes and trousers, while two male suspects served as lookouts on the left and right aisles of the shelves, and another waited outside the premises. 'Initial investigations revealed that the syndicate from Sabah has been active since 2011, and in the week before their arrest, they were believed to have committed 12 thefts at premises across the three states,' he said. Christopher added that further investigations showed three of the suspects had prior criminal records involving drug offences, theft, and causing injury. Two Bangladeshi men charged with terrorism-related offences
JOHOR BARU: Two Bangladeshis were charged in the Sessions Court here today with offences related to the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group. The two men, Md Mamun Ali, 31, and Md Refat Bishat, 27, did not fully understand the charges read to them separately before judge Datuk Ahmad Kamal Arifin Ismail. He was charged under Section 130JB(1)(a) of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum prison sentence of seven years or a fine and forfeiture of the materials, if convicted. Deputy public prosecutors Maryam Jamielah Ab Manaff and Nur Ainaa Ridzwan prosecuted, while both men were unrepresented. The court set Sep 12 for mention to appoint a Bangladeshi interpreter.

Two Bangladeshi men charged with terrorism-related offences
TWO Bangladeshi men were charged in the Sessions Court here today with terrorism-related offences. One of them, Md Mamun Ali, 31, was charged with providing support to the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group through Facebook, using an account named Sahifulla Islam, between July 28, 2023, and April 30, 2024. The charge, under Section 130J(1)(a) of the Penal Code, provides a life sentence or imprisonment for up to 30 years, and is liable to a fine upon conviction. The other, Refat Bishat, 27, was charged with possessing a picture of the IS terrorist group flag on an Honor X6a mobile phone at about 4.30 pm on July 10, 2025, at a house in Larkin Industrial Estate. The charge, under Section 130JB(1)(a) of the Penal Code, provides imprisonment for up to seven years or a fine, and forfeiture of the goods involved, if convicted. They were charged before Judge Datuk Ahmad Kamal Arifin Ismail, who set Sept 12 for mention for the appointment of an interpreter. Deputy public prosecutors Maryam Jamielah Ab Manaff and Nur Ainaa Ridzwan appeared for the prosecution in the cases, respectively. Both accused were unrepresented. — BERNAMA

According to PIBG chairman Salleh Hj Dualin, the signage is part of an ongoing effort to protect every student. 'This is one of the school's specific initiatives to tackle bullying, alongside other impactful strategies, many students may not even realise their actions amount to bullying. 'It is important for the school to remind them so they become aware and change their behaviour, the message is clear, no student should suffer in silence,' he said to Daily Express, Tuesday.
