Vikings starting QB J.J. McCarthy signs fans' jerseys at training camp facility
A lot is riding on J.J. McCarthy this season. The first-round pick of the 2024 NFL Draft can be pegged as the face of the season, especially after Sam Darnold's exit. And McCarthy is starting the season on the right foot by making his fans happy! The QB went around the Vikings' facility on a sweltering day just to make fans happy.
J.J. McCarthy went around Vikings' facility to sign jerseys and talk to fans
The Minnesota Vikings' camp is being held in Eagan, Minnesota, and McCarthy spent hours going around the facility to talk to fans and listen to their requests. In a video shared on social media, McCarthy can be seen wearing a red jersey right outside the facility, interacting with fans who were standing on the overhead bridge and taking jerseys and gear from them to sign. Fans on X praised his commitment to his fans, especially since it was a humid day and McCarthy spent quite a long time outside in the heat just for his fans.
Although fans and top brass have shown their trust in McCarthy, he is yet to win over all his teammates, it might seem. Recently, Vikings' wide receiver, Justin Jefferson was asked about McCarthy and he was actually slammed by fans for his underwhelming response.
'He's pretty much a rookie,' he said. 'Last year pretty much doesn't count for him. He's still new to the scheme… You have to have that patience. You're not really expecting him to have the same mindset as a veteran.

You can't really have that expectation from him.'
It goes without saying that the Vikings have an interesting year ahead after their roster change. They did not sign Aaron Rodgers, let Sam Darnold walk away, and also split with Nick Mullens and Daniel Jones. It has become evident that Vikings consider McCarthy a long-time asset.
McCarthy was unable to play in his rookie season because of a torn meniscus in his right knee.
But he did show enough development to make it to 2025 training camp as the Vikings' expected starting quarterback.
A few days ago, Minnesota Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell talked about a meeting he had with McCarthy to discuss future strategies. As per reports, they spent an hour meeting one-on-one in O'Connell's office.
"The one thing I learned about him in those meetings is that he had great questions, and that validated that he was receiving and getting something out of that time. And as I've told him, it doesn't really guarantee you anything, but once you're fighting the fight on a daily basis of growing within the system, he would be able to rely on some of what we did together,' O'Connell said.

Watch: Unbelievable! 41-year-old AB de Villiers pulls off stunning last-ball heroic in WCL 2025
41-year-old AB de Villiers (Screengrab) AB de Villiers may be 41, but the South African legend continues to defy age and expectations at the ongoing World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025. In a heart-stopping semifinal against Australia at Edgbaston, de Villiers proved once again why he's one of the greatest the game has ever seen, this time with a match-winning moment in the field. With Australia needing 3 runs off the final ball, Dan Christian managed only a scrambled single after squeezing Wayne Parnell 's pinpoint yorker toward long-on. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! But he picked the wrong man to test. De Villiers, patrolling the boundary, charged in, scooped up the ball at full tilt, and rifled in a rocket throw that crashed into the stumps at the non-striker's end. Watch: Nathan Coulter-Nile was nowhere close, and just like that, South Africa sealed a thrilling 1-run victory and booked their spot in the WCL final. Though his bat was quiet in the semifinal, de Villiers has been in explosive form this tournament. With two centuries and over 300 runs, he currently leads the run-scoring charts by a wide margin. His fielding has also turned heads with acrobatic catches, sharp run-outs, and reflexes that seem untouched by retirement or time. South Africa had earlier posted 186/8, riding on a blazing 76 off 35 from Morne van Wyk alongside JJ Smuts. Australia fought back through Chris Lynn and Shaun Marsh, but Wayne Parnell's clutch spell, including two wickets in the powerplay and a nerveless final over, set the stage for de Villiers' last-ball heroics. Now captaining the South Africa Champions, AB will lead his side into the final against an unbeaten Pakistan Legends side that reached the final after a walkover in their semifinal. With one game to go, the stage is set for one more de Villiers masterclass. For real-time updates, scores, and highlights, follow our live coverage of the India vs England Test match here. India vs England 5th Test: Overcast sky, green pitch, moving ball - welcome to England, Day 1
The Oval cricket ground (AP Photo) in London: Overcast sky, green pitch, rain interruptions, enough for the bowlers all day, and hard work for the batters. Day 1 of the fifth England-India Test at The Oval had a very English look and feel to it. Even after 20 days of hard-fought cricket, that feeling was missing, and the opening day in London gave plenty of it. The beer taps continued to flow in the stands, but for a change, thanks to the weather, even the espresso machines had some decent queues when play got underway. The spectators had plenty of options to enjoy their cricket, but for the ones in the middle, patience was going to be their only companion. From the time Ollie Pope asked India to bat in those challenging conditions, it was clear that this was going to be the sternest examination of the batters in the series so far. This was the spiciest pitch of the tour, and it lived up to its billing with the assistance it provided to the quicks. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! There was activity in the air, movement off the pitch, and the odd one kicked off the surface. 204/6 has left the day slightly in England's favour, with Karun Nair and Washington Sundar being the last recognised pair, but it could have been much worse had the bowlers used the conditions better. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Pensioners Can Buy These Electric Cars in Malaysia - See Prices Here! Electric Cars | Search Ads Search Now Undo Apart from Gus Atkinson, the others lacked consistent control, and there were looseners which allowed a release shot here and there. It wasn't easy to deal with the moving Dukes, and rain interruptions only made life more difficult for the batters. Two, read KL Rahul and Dhruv Jurel, were guilty of throwing it away, one, read Shubman Gill, misjudged a run, and the remaining three got out to very good deliveries. Those three good deliveries were always going to come their way in these conditions, but it was the previous bunch of three which could have been avoided. England did release the steam when Karun Nair did the repair job, first with Dhruv Jurel and then with Sundar, but it could have been a much worse day for the hosts had those three dismissals not happened. India assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate summed up the day as "fair" and felt if they can stretch to 300, it will be a job well done by the batters. He lauded Sai Sudharsan for his patient knock before getting dismissed by a Josh Tongue peach! "It's a fair day. If we can push to 300, it will be a great score. Guys by and large did very well today. Sai Sudharsan played very nicely… two very good balls by Tongue," said ten Doeschate during the media interaction. Ryan ten Doeschate press conference: On Jasprit Bumrah missing out, Shubman Gill run out, batting The coach felt Gill's run-out was a misjudgment from the skipper. "He is in the touch of his life; he made batting look easy today. England bowled very nicely today, and we spoke about accumulating runs during the break. Guys did a nice job accumulating runs, but it was a misjudgment of the run," added ten Doeschate. It was a bizarre day of play that had everything: a bowler sprayed all over but bowled two unplayable deliveries; a player who was not sure of playing in this game scored a fighting unbeaten fifty; and a series that was played on very batting-friendly surfaces dished out the spiciest track—for the game in which both Jasprit Bumrah and Jofra Archer didn't feature in the Playing XI. When Nair and Sundar come out to bat on the second day, they will be carrying the familiar feeling of not feeling set, no matter what score you are batting on. English conditions for you!
