A phone and tablet device were also examined which included the voice message about the 2001 Twin Towers atrocity and him discussing with others "murdering all the people who wronged you".
Ross appeared in the dock this week at the High Court in Glasgow.
He pled guilty to a charge of behaving in a threatening and abusive manner which included sending the concerning messages and voice notes on Snapchat and Facebook causing an explosion, filming it and putting the footage on social media between June 25 and July 31 2024.
He had a not guilty plea to a charge under the Terrorism Act accepted.
Ross was remanded in custody and will be sentenced at a later date.
A Facebook friend of Ross had spotted the explosion video in late July 2024. He showed it to a young woman who was so "alarmed" she contacted police.
Ross was held that day after being spotted in Methil.
Detectives - along with Counter Terrorism officers - searched his home in the town.
They found the "Project Payback" drawing along with a sketch of what was described as a "homemade explosive device".
Inside a desk were various items including a roll of wire, mobile phone batteries, nails, screws and a watch.
There were also initial fears about a package in the property which led to homes in the area being evacuated, but it did not contain an explosive.
Prosecutor Greg Farrell said Ross "laughed" when first quizzed about what he had filmed claiming it was an "attempt at satire comedy".
But, he confirmed that he had blew up two butane gas canisters and had posted it on his Facebook page under the name of a Batman comic villain.
Mr Farrell: "He made reference to social media corrupting his decisions."
Ross was asked about his interest in Kaczynski - captured in 1996 - and said he was "apparently some kind of mail bomber" that he had learned more about by going down a "rabbit hole" online.
Ross went on to insist that he himself was "not a terrorist" as he had "made peace with everything in his life".
But, police found a series of concerning messages during checks of his phone and black tablet.
In late June 2024, he wrote to 15 users on Facebook Messenger: "Here guys, I am just here to inform you that the only thing stopping you from murdering all of the people who wronged you is just a box.
"That is only if you cannot do it correctly and make sure enough evidence is gone so that the charges do not stick."
He referred to "instructions on how to make a pipe bomb" adding: "Hope this comes in handy for you one day x".
In messages on the day of the River Leven explosion, a social media contact called Ross "a v.dangerous human".
Mr Farrell then told the court of a Snapchat conversation with a friend shortly before.
Ross stated at one stage: "I am going to make 9/11 look like an episode of the Teletubbies, f*** sake."
He then backtracked again claiming it was "satire comedy" and that he was "only joking".
The friend replied: "F*** Islam, f*** them all."
During further rants, Ross said he had been let down by the "justice system" moaning he had been treated differently because he is a man.
In messages to another contact, he said: "I have realised that I simply cannot allow what is happening to humanity and our world to continue.
"I can and will have an impact on preventing the worst from happening xx."
The court heard there were also photos, videos and sketches of the "Unabomber" on the devices as well as images of a pipe bomb and firearms together with "various other clips which suggest violence".
Lord Colbeck deferred sentencing for reports.

Both the parachutes and a helmet were seized by police, and forensics are working to identity the precise cause of death. Police are also investigating the death, which is currently being treated as suspicious. Thomas's cousin, Mayra, paid him an emotional tribute. She told G1: "He worked very hard, was very loving to his son, to his family. "He was so experienced, it was such a silly accident. No one ever imagined it would happen." Tragic Highway Crash in Idaho: Seven Dead in Tour Van Collision Mayra continued: "I was getting ready to go get my nails done when I got the phone call. I broke the news of the death to the rest of the family. I live in Uberlândia and had to come to Pouso Alegre. He was so young, he was in the best phase of his life, doing something he loved so much. "Despite the distance, we were always close. Thomas was also best man at my wedding." She insisted: "There was no one who didn't love him." Their statement read: 'His energy, commitment, and passion for innovation left a profound mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. "In this time of mourning, we join in solidarity with his family, friends, and all who share this great loss." Thomas's company remembered him as a passionate leader. The Brazilian Parachuting Confederation (CBPq) said it regretted the accident, and explained that the collision happened during the separation phase of a "Desloc" jump. This is a free flight technique where the parachutist uses the body to generate lift and horizontal movement while falling. The CBPq has already instructed a technical expert to prepare a report into the accident. A statement from the parachuting body read: "At this difficult time, our thoughts are with our athlete, his family, and the entire skydiving community. "We reiterate our commitment to the safety and integrity of everyone involved in our sporting activity." The Boituva city hall confirmed that both jumped had their parachutes open when they landed - but that Thomas's decent was uncontrolled. He was rescued by the Fire Department and taken to São Luís Hospital, where his death was confirmed.

Horse-riding instructor and showjumper guilty of underage sex
Equestrian boss Guy Simmonds, 37, and fellow rider Lauren Jarvis, 26, plotted the three-way event sex with the schoolgirl. Then the pair agreeing a "pact of silence" about their illegal underage romp after horse-riding lessons. A court heard the pair had "no doubt at all" that the schoolgirl was under 16 before the threesome and vowed to keep it secret. Prosecutor James Hartson said: "At all times he knew how old she was and so did Jarvis. "The victim told him herself in one of the very first messages she sent him. "They didn't care about her age when they were planning and engaging in a so-called threesome with the victim. "They also knew what they did was wrong and they agreed a pact of silence when they got wind she had started to talk about it." Cardiff Crown Court heard Simmonds bragged he was a "top showjumper" after targeting the underage girl on Facebook. Mr Hartson said there was a "clear element of grooming behaviour" from Simmonds before the threesome in Jarvis' home in January last year. In one message read to court, the girl asked Simmonds what he would make her do and he replied: "You will both do what daddy says. It will be fun." Simmonds later messaged Jarvis saying: "Hey, I have a feeling that she has said about us. If anyone asks for sake of both of us nothing ever happened that night xx." Jarvis replied: "Hey, who's she told? Oh god has she really, what's she trying to do, make our lives hell? Of course I will xx." The court heard Simmonds told police in interview he did not have any from of sexual contact with the victim. But he made calls to his mother from prison instructing her to pay the victim's "fickle" family £50,0000 to drop the charges. He said: "There is £20,000 in my account. Just f***ing give it to them. I don't care. £20,000 now and then £10,000 a year for three years." Simmonds claimed he had been given permission to "stray" from his partner Rebecca Dimes, 34, on the condition she "did not want to know anything about it." Jarvis claimed any messages about a threesome were "banter and a wind up." Simmonds, from Undy, and Jarvis, from Newport, were both found guilty by a jury of sexual activity with a child. Simmonds was found not guilty on five other charges of sexual activity with a child relating to the same victim. Judge Lucy Crowther adjourned the case for sentencing on September 29.

Search for missing ‘body' in river turns up life-size sex doll
A three-hour search for a missing body in an Idaho river ended with authorities pulling out a life-size silicon sex doll. The frantic effort to recover a human body from Blackfoot River began on Thursday morning after someone reported seeing one floating roughly 16 miles northeast of Soda Springs, according to Caribou County Sheriff Adam Mabey. Deputies deployed drones and divers went into the water around 12.30pm when they spotted the 'body'. 'When my team went in and pulled it out of the water, that's when they realized it was just a real life-size companion doll,' Mabey told East Idaho News on Saturday. The search crew took photos of the female doll but did not release them. It appeared to have been in the river for some time, Mabey said. The person responsible for putting the doll in the water would face littering charges. But the sheriff doubts they will be able to find out who did it. Despite putting resources into the false alarm situation, Mabey does not regret their response. 'Rather go all out and make sure we did everything properly at a scene,' he told the news outlet, 'Than to rush in and do something and find out we should've done something more.' The sheriff added that 'this whole story has generated a lot of jokes and stories and really interesting Facebook comments'. 'I was hoping it'd blow over and no one would ever hear about it,' Maybe said. 'But I can also see it's an interesting story.' The weird incident happened just over a year after a funeral worker allegedly tried to smuggle a life-size sex doll out of a dead man's home in a body bag. The worker and his colleague went to the Rock Creek Apartments in Omaha, Nebraska, to collect the corpse and found 'a very real life size version of an adult female' next to a bed, according to a Sarpy County Sheriff's deputy. Later that day in June 2024, the worker apparently returned later with a bag and said he came on behalf of the sheriff's office to recover the 'sex doll' for 'evidentiary purposes'. He was charged with burglary, tampering with physical evidence and criminal trespassing. Get in touch with our news team by emailing us at webnews@ For more stories like this, check our news page.
