QFM Group divests 21 Costa Coffee stores in UK to SimTrava
The financial specifics of the deal have not been made public.
QFM Group was supported by law firm Freeths for the deal, as reported by Insider Media.
This step marks the end of a 17-year relationship between QFM Group and the Costa Coffee brand.
QFM Group director Kishan Patel was quoted by Insider Media: 'This was a significant and emotional decision for our family, and we're incredibly grateful to Andy and the wider Freeths team for guiding us through the process with such professionalism, care, and expertise.
"Their support was instrumental in ensuring a smooth and successful transaction, and we truly valued their thoughtful, values-driven approach throughout.'
SimTrava, which began its journey with the Costa Coffee brand in October 2005 with its first licensed store in Northwich, will now increase its Costa franchise count from 58 to 79 locations, predominantly in the north of England.
The acquisition positions SimTrava among the largest Costa Coffee franchisees in the UK, following Scoffs Group, which operates 110 outlets, as reported by World Coffee Portal.
QFM Group now intends to concentrate on its KFC and Taco Bell franchises, in addition to expanding its 24-store Dunkin' franchise in the UK.
Costa continues to hold the title of the largest coffee chain in the UK, with over 2,670 stores.
In April 2025, the company announced an extension of its partnership with real estate advisor Savills to facilitate the opening of new locations in high streets and shopping centres across the country, aiming to recover from a period of stagnant growth.

Deal 'closer than ever' as forward demands move
Liverpool's focus in the last few days appears to be on completing yet another incoming deal. It's been a record-breaking transfer window already - with sporting director Richard Hughes overseeing around £260m worth of spending. But the Reds want more. Alexander Isak is firmly in the club's sights - and could arrive for £135m in a British record deal. But simmering in the background are several mooted outgoing deals. 🔴 Shop the LFC Store 🚨2025/26 LFC x adidas range🚨 LFC x adidas Shop the away range TODAY LFC x adidas Shop the home range today! Tyler Morton - for example - is putting pen to paper on a permanent deal which will see him join Lyon for around £15m. Others - such as Darwin Nunez and Harvey Elliott - could see their Anfield tenures cut short if bidding clubs meet the Reds' asking price. 🔴 Shop the LFC 2025/26 adidas away range . The 27-year-old arrived from Juventus in a deal that could reach £12.5m - signing a contract until 2028. Chiesa pushing for Serie A return But it's been a year to forget for the Euro 2020 winner - who has fallen out of favour in the national team set-up and barely featured for his new club. It's now being reported in Calciomercato that Chiesa has requested a return to Serie A - with Atalanta, Napoli and now AC Milan coming forward with their interest. 'Federico Chiesa is ever closer to a return to Serie A,' the report reads. 'On the fringes of Liverpool 's technical project, also in view of the next World Cup, the former Juventus player is reportedly pushing to return to Italy, convinced that only in this way can he find the consistency, confidence, and desire to play that he has in fact lost in England.' AC Milan deal unlocked A deal with Napoli has been on hold for quite some time - as it appears the Serie A title holders are unwilling to match the forward's contract demands. That leaves the door open to AC Milan. Should the Rossoneri successfully offload Samuel Chukuwueze to a Premier League suitor in the shape of Fulham then it could unlock their move for Chiesa. 'With the departure of Samuel Chukwueze, Milan could seriously insist with Liverpool for Federico Chiesa,' the report continues. 'The Cottagers could offer up to €20 million for Chukwueze, a figure that could encourage the Rossoneri to sit down at the negotiating table with Liverpool for Federico Chiesa.' © IMAGO - Federico Chiesa Liverpool

AXA to acquire 51% stake in Italian direct insurer Prima
French insurer AXA has agreed to acquire a 51% share of Prima, a direct insurance provider in Italy, for €500m ($578m), strengthening motor insurance operations in the country. The transaction includes provisions for call/put options pertaining to the remaining 49% of Prima, which will be subject to an exercise price correlated with the company's financial performance. As a managing general agent, Prima operates a proprietary technology platform to distribute its products via various channels including price comparison websites, its own website and a network of more than 1,500 affiliated agents. In fiscal year 2024, Prima reported gross written premiums totalling €1.2bn within Italy. The company operates with a workforce exceeding 1,200 individuals and has established offices in key cities such as Milan, Rome, London and Madrid. Prima CEO George Ottathycal stated: 'We are delighted to become part of the Axa Group. Axa strongly believes in our strategic plan and will provide assets and expertise which will enable Prima to further unlock its potential, leveraging expertise with a leading global insurance Group." AXA's direct distribution segment generated €3.5bn in premiums across multiple geographies in 2024. The move is expected to enhance AXA's direct distribution capabilities in Europe, leveraging Prima's digital infrastructure and expertise. AXA European Markets & Health CEO Patrick Cohen said: 'We are excited to announce the acquisition of Prima, which will not only significantly enhance our position in the Italian P&C [property and casualty] market but also bring capabilities to strengthen our direct business in European markets." The deal is set to conclude by the end of 2025, subject to standard closing conditions and regulatory consents. Upon the deal's completion, existing investors Blackstone, Goldman Sachs and Carlyle will relinquish their investments in Prima, with Neurone continuing to maintain its position as a key shareholder in the company. AXA recently won a London court case against Santander, securing a £680m (€781.53m) ruling for mis-sold payment protection insurance policies. These policies, underwritten by two companies AXA acquired from Genworth in 2015, were originally sold by a company Santander bought in 2009. WIN Metals to buy Western Australia's Radio gold mine
WIN Metals has signed a binding memorandum of understanding (MoU) to acquire the Radio gold mine from Top Global Mining. The acquisition encompasses a suite of tenements, mining and processing assets, accommodation facilities, vehicles, and other equipment. WIN aims to leverage the A$30m ($19.3m) investment by previous owners to implement a strategy that includes underground development and potential shallow open pits. The transaction terms include an upfront payment of A$500,000 and a share consideration of A$400,000, with a deferred stepped royalty on gold sales. Completion is subject to regulatory and third-party approvals, and the consideration shares will be issued under WIN's placement capacity. The Radio gold mine, situated 38km north of Southern Cross in Western Australia's Yilgarn region and approximately 400km east of Perth, is ready to restart operations, with essential infrastructure in place. This includes development to the second level, mobile mining equipment, power generators, compressed air and a processing facility that is 70% complete. The 2018 Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) reports a total resource of 210,000 tonnes (t) at 4.23 grams per tonne of gold, equating to 28,600oz of gold. WIN Metals managing director and CEO Steve Norregaard said: 'Radio represents a fantastic opportunity for WIN to acquire a fully permitted gold mine capable of generating near term cash flow harnessing the current elevated gold price. 'The site is fully prepared to restart underground production, with a partially completed processing facility and significant operations-ready infrastructure that has the potential to allow WIN to consider the option of processing its own ore and reducing dependence on delayed payments often associated with toll milling." WIN has identified open-pit opportunities and plans approximately 7,000m of shallow drilling to delineate resources. An updated MRE will inform mining studies to exploit these gold targets. The company also intends to assess the potential of processing plant investment by the previous owners and explore underground mining opportunities at the Radio deposit. The deposit remains open, with no drill-holes exceeding 260m, indicating potential for further mineralisation at depth. 'WIN will initially evaluate short-term open-pit opportunities near existing workings at Radio Repeater, Radio South and the central near-surface Radio resource. These targets, believed to have been previously overlooked, could potentially deliver immediate cash flow,' Norregaard added.
