Netflix show with Gilmore Girls star called 'phenomenal' as fans 'binge' hidden series
Netflix is home to one of the most cherished US sitcoms that many might not be aware of.
At the end of 2024, all six seasons of Parenthood were added to the streaming giant's catalogue.
The show originally aired in 2010 and ran for five years until its conclusion in 2015. It centres around the Braverman family, spanning three generations.

Sarah is one of four siblings, each with their own children and facing their unique challenges. These range from marital problems, heartbreak, growing up and raising a child diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome.
Each season has been a hit with viewers, with the third series boasting an impressive 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Fans have showered the sitcom with praise, encouraging others to give it a watch, reports Surrey Live.
One viewer commented: "Phenomenal show! Absolutely loved it. Heartwarming Evoked so many emotions, I laughed and I cried. Fantastic casting, outstanding So many tender moments, character development where I gushed with praise as to how well it was written, acted etc.
"This is binge worthy. Up there with all my favourites such as Gilmore Girls, Suits, Friends - shows that take you on a beautiful fulfilling journey."
Another fan chimed in with: "I absolutely loved this show, couldn't stop watching once I started."
Someone else wrote: "This show is heartwarming and addictive. I could not stop binge watching! It is also rare to find a six season show that doesn't break somewhere on the journey."
Another person praised: "My wife and I recently finished watching all the seasons. One of the best TV shows we've watched in many years. All the characters and their stories relate closely to real life to say the least."
Meanwhile, another fan couldn't help but declare: "My favourite TV show of all time."
The series boasts an impressive lineup including Peter Krause, Dax Shepard, Monica Potter, Michael B. Jordan, and Craig T. Nelson.
Off-screen, Parenthood stars Lauren Graham and Peter Krause were in a relationship throughout the sitcom's run, but they announced their split in 2021 after a romance spanning 11 years.
Opening up to People magazine post-breakup, the Netflix celebrity revealed why they decided to part ways.
She reflected at the time: "We had such a good time together that I didn't maybe ask some fundamental questions about, What are your values and what do you envision? and those more grown-up things. And then they just caught up with us."

Harry and Meghan new Netflix deal - what is coming next?
The couple announced the deal, which is a 'multi-year, first look deal for film and television projects', yesterday. It comes five years on from Harry and Meghan's first lucrative contract with the streaming giant, thought to be worth more than $100 million (£74 million). Here is all to know about the current deal and the projects being worked on by the couple. The new first-look deal means Netflix will have the first option on Harry and Meghan's projects. The Sussexes described the deal as 'extending their creative partnership'. Meghan said: 'We're proud to extend our partnership with Netflix and expand our work together to include the As Ever brand. 'My husband and I feel inspired by our partners who work closely with us and our Archewell Productions team to create thoughtful content across genres that resonates globally and celebrates our shared vision.' While a representative for the Sussexes declined to comment on the financial arrangements of the deal, PR and crisis expert Mark Borkowski suggested the Sussexes would now be on a pay-as-you-go deal. This means the couple would be paid for productions as and when they are selected by Netflix, rather than receiving an overall amount. He added: 'I think Netflix has done a very neat job of pivoting away from two very expensive people who didn't deliver, and they've taken that deal off the table, and they've given them a modest one. Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and Prince Harry have extended their creative partnership with Netflix. They have signed a multi-year, first look deal for all of their film and television projects through their production company Archewell Productions. 'It's not like they're gradually uncoupling. It's a downgrade. "Netflix are not going to expose themselves to those budgets again and it's Netflix saying 'Well, look, let's have a look at your content, but we'll pick and choose, mate'.' So far, the Sussexes' most successful series has been Harry & Meghan – their controversial 2022 documentary about stepping back from royal duties and their struggles with the Royal Family. It totalled more than 23 million views and is Netflix's fifth most popular documentary series ever. Following the new deal with Netflix, here is what to expect from the couple on the platform in the coming months: The first series of With Love, Meghan premiered on Netflix in March earlier this year. The second instalment is due to air later this month. Netflix said: 'Meghan returns with a fun and heartwarming new season, welcoming celebrity chefs, talented artists, and beloved friends for hands-on adventures filled with laughter and discovery.' It promises 'playful cooking challenges' and 'DIY projects', adding: 'Meghan and her guests explore bold flavours, experiment with new techniques, and discover simple ways to add beauty to everyday life.' Following the release of the second series, a Christmas special is planned at the end of the year. Netflix has said viewers will 'join Meghan in Montecito for a magical holiday celebration'. It adds: 'Together, friends and family deck the halls, create holiday feasts, craft heartfelt gifts, and share lots of laughs – with simple how-tos to follow at home. 'It's a holiday wonder with warmth, tradition, and a generous dose of joy.' The Sussexes used to spend Christmas with the Royal Family at Sandringham but Harry and Meghan have not done so since 2018, having moved to the US five years ago. This 'romance feature' will be an adaptation of the bestselling novel by Carley Fortune. While no date has been announced for the project, Netflix says 'this romantic drama follows a decade-spanning love story that begins with a chance encounter and a broken promise". The story deals with mental health, postnatal depression and childhood trauma over losing a parent in a car crash, with some of the themes said to have similarities with Harry and Meghan's own experience. A post shared by Meghan, Duchess of Sussex (@meghan) This new documentary, of which Harry and Meghan are listed among the producers, will focus on a tiny orphanage in Uganda which was born out of the HIV/Aids crisis. The Duke only recently stepped down from Sentebale, the charity he founded nearly 20 years ago to help children orphaned by Aids in Lesotho, following a boardroom battle with its chairwoman. Harry, who was left devastated by the development and who is considering starting a new humanitarian charity, vowed to continue his commitment to supporting youngsters in the region. It is not known whether Harry and Meghan will feature in the documentary, with it set to air later this year. There are also some future, unknown projects, yet to be revealed. Archewell Productions, which was founded in 2020 by Prince Harry and Meghan, says it is 'in active development on additional projects with Netflix that span a variety of content genres'. An agreement was later announced whereby the couple would "no longer be working members of Britain's royal family", and would not use their "Royal Highness" styles. Recommended reading: Despite this, Harry remains a prince and is fifth in line to the British throne. The couple married in St George's Chapel in Windsor on May 19, 2018 and have two children, Prince Archie of Sussex and Princess Lilibet of Sussex. Harry is estranged from his brother, the Prince of Wales, after a fallout and has a troubled relationship with his father, the King.

'Masterpiece' action movie shoots up Netflix charts days after 'terrible' remake drops
The Steven Spielberg film was initially released in 2005 and it has seen a resurgence in popularity. The Netflix Top 10 UK chart has seen an unexpected title creep back in following the release of an unpopular remake. The streamer is home to some iconic action movies by some of the world's most esteemed directors, including Steven Spielberg, who has just finished work on The Thursday Murder Club film. One film in particular has caught viewers' attention and is currently sitting at number eight in the platform's Top 10 movies list. Initially released two decades ago, War of the Worlds starred Tom Cruise and Dakota Fanning as a father and daughter who must fight for survival when extra-terrestrials invade Earth. The film was a commercial success and received positive reviews, with critics praising Spielberg's ability to capture the thrilling and suspenseful elements of H. G. Wells' 1898 novel. The original film is climbing the Netflix rankings following the release of a Prime Video remake starring rapper and actor Ice Cube. Ice Cube plays Will Radford, a Department of Homeland Security official who monitors an array of feeds for terrorist threats. However, he realises he is too late when meteor strikes occur worldwide and alien tripods emerge, destroying everything in their path. The film, which was first announced at the start of the Covid pandemic, was quietly released in July 2025 and only has a 3% positive review rating on the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes. Andy Meek of Boy Genius Report went as far as to name the film the "worst film of the year". Matt 73132 took to Reddit to share: "The new War of the Worlds movie with Ice Cube is so awful I couldn't even finish it." He added: "Casting Ice Cube for War of the World's was a terrible idea. He doesn't fit the role. I knew it was gonna be bad when I saw that." However, some fans thoroughly enjoyed it with Muchtox1cboss sharing on Google Reviews: "Where do I even begin? The 2025 War of the Worlds is nothing short of a cinematic spectacle. "From its opening moments, director Rich Lee crafts a tense, visually striking reimagining of H.G. Wells' classic, blending gripping performances with a modern, screen-driven narrative. "Ice Cube delivers a commanding presence, while Eva Longoria and the supporting cast bring heart and humanity to a world on the brink."
