Justin Bieber's $31M debt to Scooter Braun delayed amid Hailey's Rhode payout deal

Express Tribune18-07-2025
Justin Bieber is allegedly postponing a $31 million payment to former manager Scooter Braun, with insiders claiming he's waiting on the finalization of his wife Hailey Bieber's billion-dollar deal with e.l.f. Cosmetics.
TMZ reported on July 17, 2025, that Bieber's settlement with Braun includes a clause allowing him to delay the payout until the proceeds from Hailey's Rhode sale are credited to their shared account.
However, Hailey Bieber has publicly denied that the Rhode sale is connected to her husband's financial obligations. She told New York Daily News that the business transaction is 'completely separate' from Justin's dealings with Braun. Despite this, sources claim Justin stands to earn $50 million from the sale as a private investor in Rhode.
Bieber's financial rift with Braun reportedly began in 2023 after canceling his Justice World Tour. He had received a $40 million advance from AEG, and when the tour fell through, Braun's HYBE company allegedly stepped in to cover the losses. Bieber reportedly agreed to repay HYBE in installments, but only one payment was made.
Page Six reports that the debt includes $26 million in covered costs and $5.5 million in commissions—half of an $11 million fee—while Braun forgave an $8.6 million commission. The final settlement stands at $31.5 million.
Scooter Braun recently commented on the Question Everything podcast that his story with Bieber is 'not done,' suggesting a potential reconciliation in the future. Meanwhile, Bieber's new album SWAG is out now.

Justin Bieber drops scenic ‘First Place' music video

Justin Bieber has given fans a behind-the-scenes look at his creative world with the release of the music video for 'First Place'. Filmed in striking black-and-white by director Rory Kramer, the clip takes viewers on a journey to Iceland, where Bieber trades city chaos for the tranquillity of the mountains. The video captures the pop star in an intimate recording session inside a secluded cabin, surrounded by a small group of collaborators. Between takes, Bieber is seen enjoying the natural beauty around him, walking along lakes, sitting quietly on a rooftop to admire the view, and snowboarding across the Icelandic landscape. One memorable moment sees Bieber strip down to his white boxer briefs for a nighttime swim, visibly shivering as he emerges from the cold water. With his trademark sense of humour, he addressed the scene in the video's YouTube caption, telling fans to 'FORGIVE MY CHICKEN LEGS'. 'First Place' reflects on the highs and lows of a relationship, with lyrics about returning to familiar places despite ups and downs. The track appears on Bieber's latest album Swag, his first since 2021's Justice. Produced alongside Carter Lang, Dylan Wiggins, Daniel Caesar, Dijon, Daniel Chetrit, Eddie Benjamin, Knox Fortune, and more, the record fuses personal themes with an eclectic mix of guest appearances. The album features collaborations with Gunna, Dijon, Lil B, Sexyy Red, Cash Cobain, Eddie Benjamin, and comedian Druski. Inspired by Bieber's life as a husband and father, Swag debuted at number two on the Billboard 200, reaffirming his status as one of pop's most consistent chart performers. 'First Place' follows earlier singles 'Daises' and 'Yukon', and the video's warm reception online shows that Bieber's combination of vulnerability and artistry continues to resonate with fans.
