A teenager with intellectual disabilities was charged in the Magistrate's Court today with the murder of a senior citizen.
TANAH MERAH - A teenager with intellectual disabilities was charged in the Magistrate's Court here today with the murder of a senior citizen.
Tuan Mohamad Izmal Firdaus Tuan Muda, 18, nodded after the charge was read out before Magistrate Tun Faez Fikhrie, but no plea was recorded as the case is under the jurisdiction of the High Court.
He was charged with the murder of Shamsudin Mohamed, 60, on the side of the road next to a grocery store, in Kampung Buluh, Gual Ipoh, here between 6pm and 6.30pm on June 19. A teenager with intellectual disabilities was charged in the Magistrate's Court today with the murder of a senior citizen.
The charge, framed under Section 302 of the Penal Code, provides the death penalty or imprisonment for not less than 30 to 40 years and a minimum whipping of 12 strokes, if convicted.
The prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Siti Hajar Mazlan, while Tuan Mohamad Izmal Firdaus was unrepresented.

"Avoid making financial transactions through personal accounts or companies that are not legally registered," he said. Yesterday, Shah Alam district police chief ACP Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim was reported to have said that his team is investigating a case involving the dissemination of pornographic videos by an independent preacher.

ALOR SETAR, July 6 (Bernama) – A family of six, including a six-month-old baby, are feared missing after their family members lost contact with them since Saturday. The disappearance of Mohd Azim Ezzat Ishak, 32, his wife Nurul Hidayah Khalijah Razman Effendy, 31, and their four children, aged between six months and nine years, was realised when they did not return to their home in Jerlun after spending the night at another family member's house in Taman Aman, Jitra. According to Mohd Azim Ezzat's younger sister, Nur Adliah Shuhada, in her 20s, her brother's family usually spent the night at her house on Fridays. "I thought they had returned to Jerlun because my brother, who works as a security guard, usually leaves early in the morning, and my sister-in-law runs a business. But when my brother's mother-in-law called and said they hadn't arrived home, I started to worry and tried to contact them but failed. "Then I received information about a Proton Saga car in Sungai Korok (in Jitra), but the licence plate number did not match my brother's car," she said here. Nur Adliah Shuhada said that a police report has been lodged at the Jitra Police Station regarding the disappearance of her brother and his family. Teacher killed by relative with history of mental illness
TUARAN: A teacher was found dead, believed to have been murdered by a close relative who reportedly suffers from mental health issues. The incident happened at an unnumbered house in Tenghilan here yesterday. The body of 41-year-old Celesty Christy Celestina Sili was discovered lying at the back of her family home. District police chief Superintendent Noraidin Ag Maidin said a team from the district police headquarters arrested the suspect on the same day. "Acting on a tip-off, police arrested a 47-year-old local man. The victim sustained injuries to the neck, head and both eyes caused by a sharp weapon," he said when contacted. Noraidin said the suspect is believed to have a history of mental illness and had previously received follow-up treatment at a health facility. "The motive is still under investigation, while the post-mortem examination was conducted today at the Queen Elizabeth I Hospital Forensic Unit. "The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, which carries the death penalty or imprisonment of not less than 30 years and not more than 40 years, along with whipping, upon conviction," he added. Noraidin advised the public against speculating on the case and urged anyone with information to contact Tuaran police at 088-794313.
