Caoimhin Kelleher Transfer Links Highlight Liverpool's Summer of Change
Kelleher's Time at Liverpool Nears its Conclusion
As Liverpool bask in the glow of a 20th league title, attentions are already turning to what promises to be a pivotal summer. Several members of the title-winning squad are expected to move on, including long-serving second-choice goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher.

According to TBR Football, Brentford are targeting the 26-year-old Irishman as a replacement for Mark Flekken, who is reportedly keen to reunite with Erik ten Hag at Bayer Leverkusen. With Flekken's departure likely to create a vacancy, Brentford's interest in Kelleher could pave the way for a long-anticipated exit from Anfield.

Kelleher, out of contract in 2026, is valued at around £40 million. Liverpool are aware that failing to sell him soon risks losing him for nothing – an outcome that simply doesn't align with the club's shrewd financial planning.
Brentford's Opening and Kelleher's Ambition
Despite strong performances during cup runs and spells deputising for Alisson, Kelleher's path to becoming Liverpool's No.1 has always been obstructed. That road became even more congested with the recent addition of Giorgi Mamardashvili.

Kelleher made his feelings known during Liverpool's title celebrations. 'I'm ready to be a No.1,' he said, repeating a sentiment he has carried for more than a year.

Brentford would provide an attractive platform. With Flekken set to move on, the Gtech Community Stadium could offer regular football and the sort of responsibility Kelleher craves.
Brentford's Contingency Options
Kelleher is not the only name on Brentford's shortlist. TBR Football note that James Trafford, Joan Garcia (Espanyol), Guillaume Restes (Toulouse), Yahia Fofana (Angers) and Zion Suzuki (Parma) are all under consideration.
Yet Kelleher offers a Premier League-proven solution. A goalkeeper who's saved penalties in finals, held his nerve at Wembley and shown he can handle pressure. Liverpool would prefer to cash in now rather than risk losing him for nothing.
A Respected Exit
Regardless of where he ends up, Kelleher's legacy at Liverpool is secure. He's been more than a capable back-up – he's been an architect of key victories in cup competitions and part of a golden era under Jurgen Klopp.

As the club transitions under Arne Slot, Kelleher's departure would represent both a personal evolution and a club recalibration.
Our View – Anfield Index Analysis
Kelleher leaving feels bittersweet. There's pride in seeing an academy graduate thrive, but also frustration that circumstances never quite aligned for him to claim the No.1 shirt.

Supporters have long admired his composure and agility. 'He's been brilliant when called upon,' is a common refrain. But it's also recognised that his career deserves to flourish beyond cameos and Carabao Cup nights.
With Alisson still one of the world's best and Mamardashvili newly arrived, it's no longer tenable to keep Kelleher on the bench. Most Reds would rather see him playing regularly elsewhere than stagnating at Anfield.
Brentford would be a good fit. Progressive, tactically intelligent and with a style of play that suits a ball-playing goalkeeper. Kelleher's distribution and calmness could flourish in such a setting.
Slot's arrival signals a fresh chapter and, in many ways, Kelleher's exit would be part of that renewal. The £40 million fee, if met, would help fund further squad building – possibly in midfield or wide areas where Liverpool need added depth.
Ultimately, Kelleher's exit should be viewed with respect and optimism. A move would be a reward for his patience and professionalism – and a rare win-win for player and club alike.

Man appears in court over Liverpool trophy parade incident

A 53-year-old man has appeared in court after a car was driven into a crowd at Liverpool FC's trophy parade earlier this week. Paul Doyle, from the West Derby area of Liverpool, is charged with seven offences. He confirmed his name and date of birth as he appeared in the dock of Liverpool Crown Court. Recorder of Liverpool Judge Andrew Menary KC said he would fix a provisional trial date of November 24, with the case expected to last three to four weeks. Doyle nodded as he was remanded into custody by Judge Andrew Menary, Honorary Recorder of Liverpool, until a further hearing on August 14 ahead of his trial in November. Philip Astbury, prosecuting, told the court: "This is very much an ongoing investigation. There are many witnesses to be interviewed and a great deal of CCTV to be analysed." A hearing will be held on Tuesday next week at the same court to consider reporting restrictions. In an earlier hearing, Doyle confirmed his name, gave his date of birth and address at Liverpool Magistrates' Court on Friday. He gave no indication of pleas when the charges were read to the court. Reporting restrictions preventing the victims from being identified were made by the judge. The father-of-three is accused of two counts of unlawful and malicious wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and two counts of causing unlawful and malicious grievous bodily harm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. Doyle is also accused of two counts of attempted unlawful and malicious grievous bodily harm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and one count of dangerous driving. The charges relate to six people, including two children. A wounding charge and an attempted grievous bodily harm charge relate to a child. Thousands of fans were gathered in Liverpool city centre on Monday to celebrate the Premier League champions' title win when a car struck a crowd on Water Street. Police said a total of 79 people were injured in the incident, with the youngest aged nine, and the oldest being a 78-year-old. Seven people remain in hospital in a stable condition.

Every word from Jeremie Frimpong on Salah, Slot phone call and playing against Liverpool

Jeremie Frimpong revealed that he had phone calls with Arne Slot and Virgil van Dijk after learning of Liverpool's interest in signing him. Frimpong was confirmed as Liverpool's first summer signing on Friday, just hours after Trent Alexander-Arnold's move to Real Madrid was announced. Advertisement The 24-year-old made it apparent during the interview just how keen he was for the deal to happen, as he also said how excited he was to link up with Mohamed Salah. Read the full transcript of the interview below, courtesy of club media: How does it feel? "Thank you, it's a pleasure. I'm playing for Liverpool, what more can I say? My whole family is excited for me, and my girlfriend [is]. So, I'm happy, blessed. "I think it went quite easy. Liverpool came and said they had interest, and obviously for me it was a no-brainer. For me, it was like, 'Whatever you guys do, just get this done', [speaking to] my agents: 'Just get this done.' It went quite smoothly, there were no problems." Energetic. Yeah, I think I can bring a lot of energy to the team." You wanted to join Liverpool when you were younger has that stuck in your mind? "Of course. You always want to play for the top teams as a footballer, as a kid. Of course when I was younger and Liverpool first came, that was a no-brainer as well, but due to transportation and all these sorts of things, I had to go a different way. And look at me now. So, it has worked really well." Have you learned anything from the Dutch players at Liverpool? "Yeah, of course. I have had a few conversations with them. Virgil has called me and told me a little bit more about Liverpool and the expectations, those types of things. And made me feel like the guys are going to welcome me well. That's what I expect from Virgil with how he is in the national team – he's a big character, captain. They have told me good things." Jeremie Frimpong has joined Liverpool -Credit:2025 Liverpool FC We saw you practising your Scouse a little bit a few months ago... "I didn't know it was going to go that viral! For me, it was literally just, obviously Ryan plays for Liverpool and obviously Liverpool is Scouse, so I just did that. I didn't think it was going to blow up like this. But yeah, it was funny, I appreciate the support." Did Anfield make an impression on you, the fans and atmosphere? "One hundred per cent. I think this is the best stadium I played in when I was with Leverkusen: the atmosphere, the fans, the team as well. The whole package is great." How did it feel to face Liverpool? "Ah, you know already, I don't need to say too much about the quality. They won the league. For me, playing against Liverpool when I was in Leverkusen, really difficult. Really, really difficult. How can I say it? Obviously Leverkusen were still good but you can see that Liverpool is next level." You know the language and the culture? "Yeah, exactly. Of course. I was born in Amsterdam but I was raised in England so of course I know the culture. I think I'm going to settle in well." How have you changed over the last few years now you've won league titles in two countries? "One hundred per cent. I was immature back then, I was still a kid (at Celtic). I was just thinking about leaving my friends. That was more important to me at that point because obviously I grew up with them, went to school with them. So for me it was like, 'Ah, I'm not going to see them now.' All my brother gave me was a wake-up call. It was needed, 100 per cent, because I really did want to turn [back] that day. But then my brother was like, 'OK, listen, it's your chance now. You have to show them.' And now I'm here. Of course that mindset has changed, 100 per cent." Is your expectation that this winning can continue and you can add to that with Liverpool? For me, everywhere I've been I've always won things. It's always been the league, cups and the league, so I've always won trebles. So yes, I want to win trebles, I want to win trophies – I play football to win trophies. I want to win as many trophies as possible. Frimpong helped Leverkusen win the Bundesliga in the 2023/24 season -Credit:2025 Liverpool FC Have you had a chance to see any of the scenes over the last few weeks at Liverpool? "Of course I saw that. When that was happening I was on holiday, so obviously I saw it on social media. Amazing! I want to be part of that, 100 per cent." Is it inspiring when you see things like that? "Of course. This is winners, this is why we play football – to make the fans happy. When you win, you celebrate with them. This is what the sport is about. I live for these moments. It's the best feeling ever as a football player." Have you had a chance to speak to Arne yet? "I spoke to the manager a few times. He sounds very positive. He says I can bring a lot of energy and my qualities, my speed. Especially when a manager is talking positively about you, it gives you very good confidence that he believes in you. I've had good conversations with him." How much are you looking forward to working with him? "Yeah, 100 percent. I'm really excited. Even when I was at [the] national team, some of the Feyenoord boys would tell me about him and be like, 'He's the best coach I've ever had.' Things like this. So, I've always heard good things about the coach. Now he's going to be my coach, so I'm excited for that." And Mo Salah is going to be one of your teammates… "Playing with world-class players as a footballer is a great feeling, it's a privilege, like, 'I'm going to be next to Mo Salah.' Not just him, the whole Liverpool squad. Just Liverpool in general, this is a privilege, a blessing that I can be part of it. But I can't wait to link up with him – hopefully we link up well. I'm excited for these things, 100 percent." Jeremie Frimpong has joined Liverpool -Credit:2025 Liverpool FC You're still only 24 but do you think there's room for improvement? "Always. There's never a day [that] goes past where I don't think I can improve. I feel like improving is part of football. Never stay comfortable, never stay complacent. There's always room to improve and to do more as well." What would you like to achieve here? "Look at my tablet and be like, 'Yeah, I've won this trophy, this trophy, this trophy, this trophy.' And then speak to my family and my friends and my teammates about it, 'We've had a good five years.' Yeah, things like that." What's your message to the fans? "Liverpool fans, I'm going to give my all, my energy, my work-rate and hopefully we can win together, we celebrate together, get everything together. I'm just excited to be here. Thank you guys for accepting me and I won't let you guys down and I'll give you the energy that you guys want."

Liverpool transfer news as Florian Wirtz 'ready to fly to UK' to complete Reds move

Florian Wirtz is reportedly ready to fly to Liverpool to complete his transfer from Bayer Leverkusen. The Reds submitted a $147 million offer for Wirtz in Friday after edging out Bayern Munich in the race to sign the Germany international. Advertisement If and when Liverpool and Leverkusen come to an agreement over a transfer fee, Wirtz will be authorized by his current club to travel to Merseyside to undergo a medical. Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano reported on his YouTube channel that the player is ready to make the journey to England. 'Liverpool are working on it," he said. "The negotiation is underway with Bayer Leverkusen, the official bid is on the table. The player has an agreement with Liverpool, the player wants to go to Liverpool. The player is ready to fly as soon as Liverpool and Leverkusen will authorise him for formal steps. (There is) big confidence and optimism to bring Florian Wirtz, very soon, to Anfield.' German outlet Bild, which first broke the story about Liverpool's second bid, claims that an 'important point' in the transfer saga is the player's training fee and who should pay it. The outlet states five percent of the transfer price will be 'distributed to the clubs for which the star played between the ages of 12 and 23'. Wirtz joined Leverkusen from Koln at the age of 16. Advertisement The training fee will be around $3.4 million ($3 million), and it remains unclear who will pay that sum if a transfer is concluded. Meanwhile, Liverpool is reportedly among the main suitors for Monaco attacking midfielder Maghnes Akliouche, who is said to be valued at $79 million to $91 million. Liverpool is said to be showing a strong interest in signing Akliouche, along with other Premier League teams in Manchester United, Manchester City, Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest, and Tottenham. No talks have taken place between Monaco and any of the aforementioned clubs, but Caught Offside reports that he was monitored closely over the course of the season. Advertisement Paris Saint-Germain is also said to be interested in Akliouche, but Monaco would prefer to sell him to an overseas club over seeing him join a direct rival. Considering Liverpool is seemingly about to sign Wirtz for a club-record fee, while also signing Jeremie Frimpong, and potentially Milos Kerkez, it feels unlikely that the club would sign another player for such a large amount of money.
