Wife of slain Maoist linked to 2003 attack on Naidu among those killed in police encounter

On Wednesday, three ultras — Venkata Ravi Lakshmi Chaitanya (Aruna), Gajarla Ravi (Uday) and Anju, were killed in an exchange of fire with Andhra Pradesh police at Kintukuru village in Alluri Seetharama Raju district.

Aruna hails from Karaka Vanipalem village in Visakhapatnam district's Pendurthi mandal.
Her brother Ajath was killed in a previous encounter with police in Chittoor district, said the DSP.
Similarly, Gajarla Ravi (Uday), who had a Rs 25 lakh reward on his head, was identified as an AOB Special Zonal Committee member hailing from Velishala village in Chityala mandal of Bhupalpally district in Telangana.
The third Maoist was Anju, who had a bounty of Rs 1 lakh. Her exact role within the AOB network is under police investigation.
The exchange of fire operation against the Maoists was carried out by the Greyhounds unit of the southern state's police on prior intelligence inputs.
According to Prashant, all three rebels were killed in an early morning operation in Rampachodavaram forest on Wednesday and police believe more cadres may have escaped into the dense jungle.
The security forces confiscated two AK-47 rifles and other Maoist paraphernalia from the spot.

Mumbai: A sessions court rejected the bail application of Prabhaadevi-based businessman Sudhanshumohan Dwivedi, who was arrested by the city crime branch in April for allegedly cheating a businessman of Rs 97 crore. Chhabra told police that on Dwivedi's request, he transferred Rs 340 crore into Asha Overseas India's company account and Rs 91.19 crore into Ganesh Enterprises — a total sum of Rs 452 crore. Chhabra alleged that Dwivedi supplied him with grains worth Rs 355 crore only. When there was no positive response, Chhabra went to Dwivedi's flat in Prabhadevi, where some armed goons, at the instance of Dwivedi, threatened to kill him if he raised this issue again.

Stage set for Modi's city roadshow to celebrate BJP govt's year in power
Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi reviewed arrangements for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled visit to the city on Friday to mark one year of the BJP govt in the state and 11 years of NDA rule at the Centre. Majhi visited Janata Maidan on Thursday for an on-site inspection, assessed the arrangements, and directed officials to ensure all works are completed on time. The chief minister emphasised the need for flawless execution of work for the high-profile event, a govt official said. At the heart of Modi's visit — the main and concluding event of celebrations marking the BJP govt's one year in Odisha — will be the inauguration of Vision Odisha 2036 and 2047, a comprehensive roadmap that aligns with Modi's vision of 'Purvodaya' — the rise of east India as a catalyst for national growth, state BJP President Manmohan Samal said. "The event is going to be historic with the PM announcing a developmental roadmap for Odisha by its centenary year in 2036," Samal said. The PM will also inaugurate several projects worth Rs 17,000 crore via video link, including rail services and EV buses, and honour beneficiaries of welfare schemes and social sector leaders before addressing the public at 4:30 pm.
