There's a surge of activity in the cryptocurrency market as the total market capitalisation has crossed the $4 trillion mark for the first time ever. After a strong rally in Bitcoin, Ethereum is now making headlines with an impressive rise. The world's second-largest cryptocurrency has jumped 20% in just five days and a whopping 70% over the past month. Its market cap has swelled by $150 billion in less than 30 days.
US President Donald Trump's company, World Liberty Financial, has reportedly made significant investments in Ethereum. With the latest price rally, Trump is said to have gained enormously from the rise. Currently, Ethereum is trading at $3,538.23, while Bitcoin stands at $118,071.65. In the last 24 hours alone, Ethereum has seen institutional purchases worth $5 million.
The GENIUS Act Fuels the Rally
The driving force behind this crypto boost is a historic law passed in the United States, the GENIUS Act, which was signed by President Trump last Friday. The legislation has sparked fresh enthusiasm and confidence among investors, pushing 'Crypto Week' into high gear.
Cryptocurrencies are now being seen as more than just a risky or speculative investment. So far in July, Bitcoin funds have attracted $5.5 billion (Rs 46,750 crores), while Ethereum ETFs have seen investments worth $2.9 billion (Rs 24,650 crores).
According to sources, Trump's company has recently invested around $10 million (Rs 85 crores) in Ethereum. Blockchain data from Nansen reveals that World Liberty Financial bought 3,007 ETH at a price of $3,325 each. This isn't their first major investment as in March, the company had already purchased 4,468 ETH.
In addition to Ethereum, Trump's personal gains from his $TRUMP meme coin have been remarkable. According to crypto analytics firm Gauntlet, he has earned $150 million (Rs 1,275 crores) from the token between January and mid-June.
Research platform Messari suggests that a planned 'coin unlock' this week could increase his crypto wealth by another $100 million (Rs 850 crores).

Konkan Railway to introduce Ro-Ro car transport facility between Kolad and Verna

Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) will introduce a new Roll-on Roll-off (Ro-Ro) facility for private car owners from Kolad in Maharashtra to Verna in Goa from August 23. KRCL, which was the first to introduce Ro-Ro in India in 1999 for carrying loaded trucks, is now providing the same model for motor cars. The Ro-Ro car service will operate on alternative days from both sides till September 11. The service will leave at 5 pm from Verna or Kolad and arrive at the destination at 5 am the following day. However, the customers are expected to report at the originating station by 2 pm. KRCL will use a specially constructed rake capable of carrying 40 cars, with two cars on each of the 20 wagons. KRCL has set the freight charge at Rs 7,875 per car, including GST. The customers will have to make a registration payment of Rs 4,000 during booking and clear the remaining amount on the date of travel. KRCL permits a maximum of three individuals per vehicle to travel in an attached coach. Travellers can opt for 3 AC at Rs 935 or Second Seating at Rs 190. The bookings for these services will be from July 21 and close on August 13. The service can be booked both in offline and online modes. If it gets bookings less than 16 in number, KRCL officials said they will cancel the journey and refund the entire registration amount. 'KRCL has decided to start this Ro-Ro to mitigate road congestion, fuel guzzling and vehicle emissions on the Konkan corridor. By extending this model to automobiles, KRCL seeks to offer a safer and more economic mode of transport for long-distance commuters,' said a KRCL official.

Parliamentary proceedings: A thriving democracy cannot sustain constant acrimony, says Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar

Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar on Monday (July 21, 2025) said that a thriving democracy cannot sustain constant acrimony. He urged political parties to foster bonhomie and mutual respect, avoiding unbecoming language or personal attacks against their political rivals. He said this in his opening remarks on the first day of the Monsoon Session of Parliament. 'Political tension must be reduced, as confrontation is not the essence of politics. While political parties may pursue the same goals through different approaches, no one in India opposes the nation's interests,' he said. He said that internal fighting strengthens a country's enemies and divides the country, also adding further that 'dialogue and discussion,' and not 'conflict', are the way forward. His remarks assume significance as the Opposition has upped the ante against the government demanding answers from the Prime Minister on Pahalgam terror attack, Operation Sindoor and U.S. President Donald Trump's claim of mediating the ceasefire between India and Pakistan, among other issues. 'I urge all political parties, ruling and Opposition, to engage in constructive politics for Bharat's greater progress. With your cooperation and active participation, I am confident that this Monsoon Session will be productive and meaningful,' he said. Upper House pays tributes The Rajya Sabha also paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 and Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad on June 12. 'Since our last session, the tragic and cowardly terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22 took innocent lives, deeply wounding our collective conscience. In response, our nation stood united, rallying behind Operation Sindoor to neutralise terrorist hideouts across the border,' the Rajya Sabha Chairman said. Mr. Dhankhar said the resolute bravery of the armed forces, combined with the steadfast solidarity of the people, powerfully reaffirmed the unwavering commitment to protecting the unity and integrity of the country. On the tragic crash of Air India flight 171 which claimed 260 lives, the Chairman said the heart-breaking tragedy has brought immense grief nationwide. 'While investigations continue, we mourn this profound loss. On behalf of the House, I offer heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and to all affected by this tragedy,' he said.
