5 fans to beat the heat from Amazon, Shark, Dyson and more

Daily Mirror5 hours ago

As the UK sizzles in the first heatwave of 2025, we've found a selection of fans to keep Brits cool throughout the summer
The UK is experiencing its first heatwave of 2025, with temperatures set to exceed 30C for the second consecutive day on Friday (June 20). Some parts of the country are expected to reach 32C, with the warm weather continuing well into next week.
With this in mind, we've been scouring the web to find a selection of fans ideal for beating the heat this summer and beyond. There's deals and devices from Amazon, Shark, Dyson and more, with prices to suit a range of budgets.
There's a choice of bladeless, standing and desktop fans, as well as one model allowing shoppers to keep comfortable both indoors and outdoors. So read on for a selection of our favourite cooling fans to help beat the heat.
Shark FlexBreeze Pro Mist – £219 (was £249.99)
Amazon has just reduced the Shark FlexBreeze Pro Mist to its cheapest price ever, beating Shark 's own £219.99 price tag. Serving as a standing or desk fan, this model has five fan speeds and two SmartBreeze modes said to simulate natural wind patterns.
But what sets it apart from its rival is the MistPro feature, which uses chilled water to spray a light, cool mist outdoors that Shark says can lower temperatures by up to 6°C. Of the FlexBreeze, one five-star review says: 'A good, powerful fan providing a lovely breeze to keep things cool in the conservatory when the sun is out.
'The water mist is strictly for outdoors as the spray does generate quite a lot of large droplets that gather on the base plate and will also moisten any items nearby. The mist is perfect for those summer barbecues, keeping the chef nice and cool.'
However, the same buyer added: 'Only drawbacks would have been nice to have more angle on the oscillation and the ability to adjust the height and not just the angle of the fan.'
Amazon has also reduced the price of the Shark FlexBreeze TableMate (£99) and the Shark FlexBreeze HydroGo (£99.99).
JYMIPA Standing Fan – £109.99
The JYMIPA Standing Fan from Amazon has yet to receive a single mixed or negative review, with its lowest rating being four stars. It's said to be 'whisper quiet' and can deliver 'powerful' wind speeds of 21 ft/s that can reach up to 29 feet, enabling it to cool even larger spaces with its 90° horizontal oscillation and 80° vertical tilt.
One user says: 'Just right for keeping the bedroom comfy without noise getting in the way. It's quiet even on higher speeds so it won't disturb sleep or focus. The airflow reaches nicely across the room, which feels surprisingly refreshing. A solid fan that stays cool and calm.'
The fan's only four-star review says: 'Wish the height adjustment was telescopic instead of the cheap plastic pipes that have to be unscrewed. The mains lead could do with being longer.'
Dyson Cool AM07 Tower Fan – £269.99 (was £349.99)
Those looking to push the boat out can save £80 on the Dyson Cool AM07 Tower Fan, which is designed to cool larger spaces. It boasts 'powerful', long-range air projection and Dyson's Air Multiplier technology, which combines principles used in turbochargers and jet engines to amplify airflow up to 15 times.
With this, the bladeless fan can project up to 500 litres of air per second, with its remote control offering total control of its 10 airflow settings. One five-star review says: 'Wish we had bought it sooner. Cool air and cool design. Very easy to assemble, three pieces just click together.'
But this more mixed review says: 'The fan is very powerful, however, the LED light is too bright. I bought it for my bedroom and it lights the whole room up at night.'

Honeywell TurboForce Power Fan – £23.19 (was £32.49)
The Honeywell TurboForce Power Fan is currently the best-selling fan on Amazon, with more than 5,000 sold in the past month. With three speed settings and a 90° oscillating head, this compact fan is ideal for use on a table or desk, allowing users to stay comfortable while they work.
It's designed to cool small to medium rooms and also comes with a handy wall mount. One five-star review says: 'This fan has been a lifesaver during warmer days and is surprisingly powerful for its size. It gives off a strong, steady breeze and really helps cool down the room quickly.
'I love that it's compact enough to fit on a table or shelf, but still has the power of a much larger fan. It's also not too noisy, which makes it perfect for using in the bedroom or while working.'
It may not suit everyone though, as this buyer says: 'It's effective enough if you're one person sitting in one place but there's no oscillation so it's no good if you want to use it with others. Not as quiet as I'd expected either.'
Dunelm Floor Fan – £50
This 16' Floor Fan from Dunelm has a 'powerful' 100W motor that makes it ideal for cooling larger spaces. It has three speed settings and an adjustable tilting head, with buyers describing it as 'robust and effective'.
There's also a slightly larger 18' model for £65, but of the 16' model, one reviewer said: 'Great fan with plenty of power behind it. Great for keeping us cool on hot days.'
Another said: 'Extremely happy with my robust and effective fan, would most definitely buy again.'
However, this buyer said: 'It's very powerful even on the lowest setting. It is loud though. Sounds more like an aeroplane than a fan. Wouldn't recommend if it's for the bedroom at night.'

Amazon cooling blanket that's the 'best thing ever' for night sweats now 20% off

Amazon cooling blanket that's the 'best thing ever' for night sweats now 20% off The popular Ailemei direct cooling blanket for night sweats is currently on sale at Amazon The specialist blanket helps keep users cool on sticky summer nights (Image: Amazon ) While warm summer days can be enjoyable, the hot and sticky nights that follow are less so. It's particularly challenging for those who suffer from night sweats, as well as those who prefer to sleep with a blanket, as regular duvets often prove too warm during the summer months. This is where a cooling blanket could come in handy, providing the comfort of a cover while keeping you cool. Currently, Amazon has a deal on the Ailemei Direct Cooling Blanket for Night Sweats, which is now nearly 20% off at £21.94. The specialist blanket is made from mica nylon and Japanese cold fibre, designed to keep users feeling fresh during hot nights. It's also lightweight, adding to its appeal. The blanket is breathable and comfortable, taking away heat and reportedly lowering internal temperature by about 2°C. Additionally, it's machine and hand washable, making it easy to care for, reports the Mirror. If this particular cooling blanket doesn't tickle your fancy, Dunelm's Fogarty Cooling Cotton Duvet Cover could be paired with your existing summer duvet. Prices range from £9.20 to £32 depending on the size, and the plain duvet cover is available in colours such as sage green, white and blush pink. Debenhams also provides an option with the Slumberdown Cool Sleep Ultra Cool Nylon Summer Duvet/Blanket, currently on sale with up to 40% priced between £41.25 and £69.37 depending on size. This duvet is engineered to dissipate heat and reportedly feels twice as cool as standard polyester blankets. Meanwhile, the Ailemei Direct Cooling Blanket has garnered popularity among consumers, achieving a 4.4-star average rating. One pleased customer said: "Absolutely brilliant! You literally put it on and can feel the cooling straight away! It's very light and has two layers, it's a slippery type of fabric. I like having a blanket and get too hot under them, this is great to combat that!" Another user hailed it as "the best thing ever", admitting: "I wish I'd bought it earlier, perfect for hot summer nights, lightweight, comfortable." A third buyer was equally enthusiastic, proclaiming: "Absolutely blooming marvellous. Cooled me down on many a hot flush! Recommended." Article continues below However, not everyone was completely satisfied as one reviewer remarked: "I didn't find this cooling, however it definitely stopped me sweating and therefore definitely had a more comfortable sleep. I like the way it is very thin but has a nice weight to it so it's easy to sleep under! Would recommend but not if your expecting it to actually be cool to the touch."

Amazon issues warning to Prime users over cyber scams

Amazon is alerting its 200 million Prime members to a sharp rise in cyber scams just weeks before its biggest-ever Prime Day event, set to begin July 8. The online retail giant says fraudsters are ramping up efforts to steal customer accounts and payment details. Amazon found that impersonation scams spiked by 80 percent during Prime Day in 2024, and similar schemes are already underway this year. The most common tactics involve fake emails and text messages designed to look like official Amazon communications, often containing malicious links or requests for personal information. Cybercriminals are seizing on the hype and urgency surrounding the four-day sales event to lure unsuspecting shoppers. With global sales expected to break records, shoppers are urged to be cautious, avoid clicking suspicious links, and report any suspicious messages to Amazon. 'Independent sellers sold more than 200 million items during Prime Day,' Amazon said in a statement. 'Prime members in the US chose to consolidate their deliveries on millions of orders, saving an estimated 10 million trips.' This year's Prime Day event will run in 26 countries, including the US, UK, India, and Canada. Ireland and Colombia are joining the list for the first time. To counter these attacks, Amazon said it removed more than 55,000 phishing websites and 12,000 fraudulent phone numbers last year. Scammers rely on urgency and fear, often warning users their account will be locked or charged unless they act immediately. Victims are frequently asked to verify account details or resolve fake issues by providing gift card numbers, passwords, or one-time passcodes, methods Amazon states it never uses. In November, the company found that 94 percent of global impersonation scams came through email, text messages, or phone calls. Two-thirds of those scams focused on fake account issues. To verify if a text message is truly from Amazon, go to the Message Center under 'Your Account.' Only legitimate communications from Amazon will appear there. Moreover, before clicking on email attachments, review the sender's address. Legitimate Amazon emails will come from an '@ address. Check the 'From' name in your email to see the full sender address and check for misspellings or suspicious characters. In March, the company tweeted on X that impersonation scams on social media have jumped 33 percent since December 2024. 'Scammers monitor customer complaints on comments, then respond using fake accounts,' Amazon said. The company emphasizes it never asks customers to click external links or move conversations to private messages. While earlier fraud attempts focused on account access, by May 2025, payment fraud had become the most reported scam, accounting for 38 percent of cases. Amazon reminds users: 'We will never call or email you requesting sensitive information like passwords.' The company has issued clear safety steps: Always access your account through the official app or website, never respond to suspicious messages, and report scam attempts through Amazon's help center or self-reporting tool. Additionally, Amazon encourages customers to enable two-factor authentication, avoid reusing passwords across websites, and turn on app notifications to confirm legitimate account activity. 'Count to ten before you act,' Amazon advises, stressing that any message pushing urgent action is a red flag. In March, Amazon also warned about 'Membership Renewal Scams,' messages prompting users to renew services by entering payment details on fake websites. To avoid delivery scams, Amazon recommends buying directly from the company instead of third-party sellers whenever possible. Items shipped and sold by Amazon are more likely to qualify for fast Prime shipping, arrive as advertised, and offer easier returns. Some customers report receiving refunds for defective items without needing to return them, due to Amazon's streamlined internal process.
