Alexander Meisner, a 61-year-old Kazakh national, massacred an entire German family including a teenager and his parents.
Meisner, himself a dad-of-five and grandfather, entered the Schulze family home in the Rhineland village of Weitefeld in the early hours of April 6.
He carried out the evil assault in the dead of night armed with a knife and a gun.
Nadine Schulze, a 44-year-old employee of a local butcher, was able to call the police and scream for help down the phone as Meisner entered the house.

Moments later, she was stabbed and shot dead by Meisner.
Police quickly responded to the haunting call and rushed round to the house.
They found Nadine's lifeless body alongside her 47-year-old husband Kai and Kilian, the couple's 16-year-old son.
All three had suffered fatal injuries from gunshot and stab wounds.

Some of the family were reportedly found bound with cable ties.
Meisner, now nicknamed the "Westerwald Killer" had already managed to escape the scene.

He is believed to have fled through a window and quickly became the focus of an international manhunt when he was named as the lead suspect.
Police had issued an arrest warrant along with a reward of up to €10,000 leading to his capture.

Interpol also confirmed that a Red Notice had been issued for his arrest after a request by German authorities.
Then on April 26, nearly three weeks after the murders, several horrifying videos were shared of Meisner online.
One showed the man maniacally laughing as he stared into the camera all as he wore a clown mask.
Another posted the same day showed him stripped down to his underwear and pouring freezing buckets of ice water over his head.

Officials are still unsure if Meisner was behind the clips being posted onto TikTok or if they were posted on his behalf.
This is due to his body being found less than 2,000ft away from the Schulze's home on August 5.

Cops said the badly decomposed corpse was partially hidden in a underwater in a swampy farmland between Weitefeld and Neunkhausen in Altenkirchen.
A firearm was also found next to his remains.
Detectives said due to the body's condition it is nearly impossible to determine an exact cause of death or when Meisner actually died.

They are still investigating if he took his own life, died from his injuries during the killing spree or faced another grim demise.
Meisner was a known criminal to police as he had previously spent time in jail for headbutting and stabbing his ex-wife.
He was sentenced to four years and nine months in prison in 2011 after attempting to murder his ex-wife, Theresa.
Meisner is said to have only stopped the attack after one of his sons stopped him from finding another knife.

Neighbours had also warned of the behaviour from Meisner in the years before the family massacre.
Melanie Hoechtlen said she reported him for harassment in October 2023.
She told Bild: "He ambushed my dog and me on the path. Then he came close and asked if he could lick me.
"I reported him back then. He said he had been a lone fighter in his homeland of Kazakhstan and knew how to survive in the forest for weeks."

Police have announced they have ended their investigations into the murders now that Meisner's body has been found.
Mario Mannweiler, senior public prosecutor, concluded: "The fact that the whereabouts of the suspected perpetrator remained unknown for months has troubled us.
"The fact that the suspect is no longer alive was an obvious option for many reasons, but without a body, other options had to be pursued. In any case, I'm relieved that this has now come to an end."

Brit backpacker, 25, faces 20 years in prison as she pleads guilty to killing dad-of-two with e-scooter ‘while drunk'
The Brit is nervous about being a 'young foreign girl' in an overseas jail, according to her lawyer SCOOTER HORROR Brit backpacker, 25, faces 20 years in prison as she pleads guilty to killing dad-of-two with e-scooter 'while drunk' A BRTISH backpacker faces 20 years behind bars in Australia after pleading guilty to killing a dad-of-two when she ploughed into him drunk on an e-scooter. Alicia Kemp, 25, smashed into the back of 51-year-old Thanh Phan and left him with fatal head injuries in June. 4 Alicia Kemp, 25, has pleaded guilty to killing the dad-of-two 4 Thanh Phan, 51, was the devoted dad-of-two killed in the e-scooter crash Credit: LinkedIn 4 The psychology graduate from Redditch, Worcestershire, admitted striking Phan from behind while speeding down a footpath drunk Credit: TikTok / aliciashona The psychology graduate from Redditch, Worcestershire, was more than three times the legal limit when she hopped on the bike after a reported six-hour marathon pub session. She was driving a pal at speed down a footpath when she careened into Thanh and knocked him down. The devoted dad was rushed to hospital but tragically died days later from a bleed on the brain. His death thrust e-scooter regulations into the spotlight in Australia, and prompted Perth alongside several other local councils to suspend the hiring services for good. Kemp appeared at Perth Magistrates' Court via video link from prison to enter her plea on Monday. She admitted to a charge of dangerous driving causing death under the influence of alcohol. Another charge of causing harm to a passenger while under the influence of alcohol was dropped. The 25-year-old will remain in prison until she appears at Perth District Court on October 31, when a date will be set for sentencing. The charge of dangerous driving causing death carries a maximum penalty of 20 years behind bars. Kemp's lawyer Mike Tudori said his client was "nervous and worried" being a "young foreign national girl" in an overseas jail. UK family-of-four including twins, 20, killed in head-on car crash in Portugal hours after renting car from airport He said: "She's obviously done something stupid at the time. "She obviously wasn't thinking level-headed and there's consequences, and she just wants to get on with her life." Phan's devastated family described him as a 'beloved husband, father-of-two, brother, and dear friend', and called for a crackdown on e-scooter safety laws. Prosecutors previously said Kemp had a blood alcohol content of 0.158 when she 'careered into his back' at up to 25km/h as the dad stood at a crossing on a Saturday night in June. The court heard walkers had to 'take evasive action' to avoid Kemp's 'inexplicably dangerous' riding, which was captured on CCTV. Her 26-year-old passenger also suffered a fractured skull and broken nose. Kemp, who was in Australia on a four-month tourist visa with her partner, had been working at Durty Nelly's Irish Pub in Perth. She had been drinking with a friend from 2.30pm - who was kicked out of a bar for being too drunk - before they hired the e-scooter just before 8.30pm. Her bail bid was rejected after a magistrate ruled she posed too great a flight risk. The magistrate said: "It's a very difficult decision for the court to make. The temptation might be that [she] won't return. "I can't manage that risk." And under Western Australian law, e-scooter riders have to wear a helmet, be sober, carry no passengers and be over 16 years old.

Man clings to Austrian high-speed train and survives
A man has survived clinging to the outside of an Austrian high-speed train, Austria's state railway said, reportedly after it left whilst he was having a cigarette break. Yesterday, the man grabbed onto the outside of the train at St Poelten, west of Vienna, railways spokesman Herbert Hofer said, and was later taken onboard after the train performed an emergency stop. "It is irresponsible, this kind of thing usually ends up with someone dying," he said. "And you're not just putting yourself in danger, if you end up under the train there's rescuers, there's police, fire service that come," he added. The railjet train was on its way from Zurich in Switzerland to the Austrian capital and left Sankt Poelten on time but arrived in Vienna with a seven minute delay, Mr Hofer said. Citing a passenger onboard, Austrian tabloid Heute said the man jumped into the space between two carriages after the train began to set off from a planned stop in Sankt Poelten. The man had taken advantage of being at a station to smoke a cigarette on the platform, Heute said. The man soon began to bang on windows to attract attention, Heute said, resulting in the train's conductor activating the emergency brake before train crew took the man aboard. "The conductor really had a very big go at him," the passenger told Heute. The man is a 24-year-old Algerian and was led away by police after the train arrived in Vienna's Meidling station, Heute reported. Hofer said he could not comment on the man's background ahead of further investigations. In January, a 40-year-old Hungarian man survived clinging to a German high-speed train for 20 miles, likewise after it set off before he had finished his cigarette.
