SCOOTER HORROR Brit backpacker, 25, faces 20 years in prison as she pleads guilty to killing dad-of-two with e-scooter 'while drunk'
A BRTISH backpacker faces 20 years behind bars in Australia after pleading guilty to killing a dad-of-two when she ploughed into him drunk on an e-scooter.
Alicia Kemp, 25, smashed into the back of 51-year-old Thanh Phan and left him with fatal head injuries in June.

The psychology graduate from Redditch, Worcestershire, was more than three times the legal limit when she hopped on the bike after a reported six-hour marathon pub session.
She was driving a pal at speed down a footpath when she careened into Thanh and knocked him down.
The devoted dad was rushed to hospital but tragically died days later from a bleed on the brain.
His death thrust e-scooter regulations into the spotlight in Australia, and prompted Perth alongside several other local councils to suspend the hiring services for good.
Kemp appeared at Perth Magistrates' Court via video link from prison to enter her plea on Monday.
She admitted to a charge of dangerous driving causing death under the influence of alcohol.
Another charge of causing harm to a passenger while under the influence of alcohol was dropped.
The 25-year-old will remain in prison until she appears at Perth District Court on October 31, when a date will be set for sentencing.
The charge of dangerous driving causing death carries a maximum penalty of 20 years behind bars.
Kemp's lawyer Mike Tudori said his client was "nervous and worried" being a "young foreign national girl" in an overseas jail.
UK family-of-four including twins, 20, killed in head-on car crash in Portugal hours after renting car from airport
He said: "She's obviously done something stupid at the time.
"She obviously wasn't thinking level-headed and there's consequences, and she just wants to get on with her life."
Phan's devastated family described him as a 'beloved husband, father-of-two, brother, and dear friend', and called for a crackdown on e-scooter safety laws.
Prosecutors previously said Kemp had a blood alcohol content of 0.158 when she 'careered into his back' at up to 25km/h as the dad stood at a crossing on a Saturday night in June.
The court heard walkers had to 'take evasive action' to avoid Kemp's 'inexplicably dangerous' riding, which was captured on CCTV.
Her 26-year-old passenger also suffered a fractured skull and broken nose.
Kemp, who was in Australia on a four-month tourist visa with her partner, had been working at Durty Nelly's Irish Pub in Perth.
She had been drinking with a friend from 2.30pm - who was kicked out of a bar for being too drunk - before they hired the e-scooter just before 8.30pm.
Her bail bid was rejected after a magistrate ruled she posed too great a flight risk.
The magistrate said: "It's a very difficult decision for the court to make. The temptation might be that [she] won't return.
"I can't manage that risk."
And under Western Australian law, e-scooter riders have to wear a helmet, be sober, carry no passengers and be over 16 years old.

Urgent Brit travel warning over ‘Goodnight Cinderella' scam after tourist was drugged & robbed by 3 women while on hols
AN URGENT travel warning has been issued to Brits after a number of tourists were drugged and robbed in Brazil in the so-called 'Goodnight Cinderella' scam. It comes after a Brit tourist collapsed unconscious on Rio de Janeiro's famous Ipanema beach last week - reportedly after taking just two sips of a drink laced with powerful drugs. 4 A Brit tourist fell unconscious after being drugged by local women, according to reports Credit: Newsflash 4 Two Brit men who fell victim to the scam told local media about their experience Credit: Newsflash 4 Mayara Ketelyn Americo da Silva, 26, is one of the women alleged to have scammed the Brit Credit: Newsflash 4 Fellow suspect Raiane Campos de Oliveira, 27, has been arrested 20 times for similar offences Credit: Newsflash The young man, a university student celebrating his graduation with a pal, was later found in hospital with £16,000 missing from his account. Authorities say he fell victim to a well-known scheme in Brazil, where sex workers use drugs like Rohypnol and GHB to spike tourists' drinks before robbing them. The drugs - often referred to as "date rape" substances - cause blackouts, memory loss and paralysis - leaving victims vulnerable to theft and sometimes even sexual assault. These have come to be known as 'Goodnight Cinderella' schemes. read more on Brazil WHERE'S DENIS? Brit tourist missing in Brazil after suddenly vanishing from his AirBnb In this case, the victim and his friend met three women during a night out at a samba dance in Rio's vibrant Lapa district. They continued the evening at a local bar, where one of the victims was handed a Caipirinha cocktail - Brazil's national drink. Minutes later, he blacked out, waking up in hospital with a large sum of money missing from his bank account. The two Brits, who have not been named, also claim their phones were stolen. Horrifying footage shows one of the tourists staggering along the beachfront before collapsing into the sand. The women are then seen running along the street and jumping into a taxi before quickly leaving the area. Moment 'Goodnight Cinderella' thief is arrested for luring & robbing tourists Police later identified the suspects as Amanda Couto Deloca, 23, Mayara Ketelyn Americo da Silva, 26, and Raiane Campos de Oliveira, 27, thanks to a video making the rounds online. Oliveira has reportedly been arrested 20 times for similar offences. The incident is part of a wider trend that has seen growing numbers of tourists fall prey to the 'Goodnight Cinderella' scheme. Earlier this month, Francini Demétrio Sitas, 23, was arrested for luring tourists before drugging and robbing a Frenchman of £13,000 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Sitas, who reportedly works as an escort, is known in the criminal underworld as the 'Queen of Goodnight Cinderella', according to Rio's Special Police Station for Tourist Support. In August last year, American businessman D'wayne Antonio Morris, 43, died in a similar suspected drugging and robbery case in Brazil, reported local outlet g1. Morris had arrived in Brazil just one day before he was found dead in his rented Copacabana apartment. Surveillance footage captured two women, including prime suspect Letícia Clara Bento da Silva, 23, leaving the scene after allegedly drugging and robbing him. Police believe the women used GHB - which is particularly dangerous in higher doses, as it can cause respiratory failure and death.

Boy, 16, tragically ends life after watching TikTok videos with sister
A "sensitive and caring" 16 year old boy was found to have been "laughing and joking" with his sister over TikTok clips just hours before he tragically took his own life. Elliott Jones had shown no signs of planning such an act, Winchester Coroners' Court was told during the inquest. After his mum popped out to the shops, Elliott left their home on Waverley Road, Fordingbridge, caught a bus to Pokesdown railway station, and then a train to Ashurst. A train driver spotted him standing with his back towards the train on the tracks, and despite doing "everything he possibly could", Elliott was hit and died instantly. Mum Carolyn Jones recounted to the court that on the day he passed away, March 10, he appeared to be in high spirits and had mentioned that the melatonin tablets he'd recently started for insomnia seemed to be helping. He and his sister had been having a laugh watching TikTok videos. She explained: "I went to the supermarket and when I came back I assumed he was still there but he had left." She spoke of her son as a "beautiful soul" and shared that shortly after, a news story about a fatality at Ashurst station in the New Forest appeared in her Facebook feed, reports the Mirror. She recounted that despite Elliott's seemingly cheerful demeanour earlier on, "I immediately thought it was Elliott; I don't know why but I just knew it was him". After discovering he had purchased a train ticket from his bank account, she said: "I was desperately checking the account to see if there was any sign of life after that. It was my worst nightmare." Mrs Jones then described how she searched her son's bedroom and discovered a notebook under his pillow with writings about taking his own life and his wish not to have a funeral. He had also left a note reminder to return a library book. She then called the police, telling them: "I think this [the person killed at Ashurst] is my son." At the time of his passing, Elliott was receiving support from CAMHS – Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services – had been diagnosed as autistic and was awaiting an ADHD assessment. Despite also having dyspraxia, which affects coordination, his mother noted he was coping well and had achieved "really well in his GCSEs" even though he "hardly" went to school. Describing him as "caring, sensitive and funny", she mentioned Elliott, known for his distinctive mane of curls, had come out as non-binary shortly before his death. She remembered him as a "champion for social justice", always ready to help and defend the underdog. Mrs Jones has shared that since Elliott's passing, she's been overwhelmed by messages from people saying he had a profound effect on their lives. Despite Elliott admitting to occasional suicidal thoughts, he assured her they were "fleeting" and he didn't intend to act on them. After the inquest into Elliott's death concluded it was suicide, coroner Jason Pegg reflected: "At 16 he had his whole life ahead of him. He was a very well loved and supported son." After the inquest, his family, who are receiving support from the bereavement charity Cruse, described Elliott as "highly sensitive, empathetic and endearingly eccentric", noting: "He would leave a positive impression on everyone he met – once met, never forgotten. "He was well liked by his teachers and peers. He had an intuitive intellectual curiosity beyond his years and deeply cared for social justice. He had done well in his GCSEs and was studying A-levels. It is clear he would have been passionate about any path he might have followed." Elliott relished spicy food, travelling, trips to London, tinkering with musical instruments, and diving into deep philosophical debates. He adored jewellery and showy attire, stood out with his tall frame and sported the most incredible long curly locks. "Elliott had a fantastic relationship with myself, his brother and sister, and the wider family. He had a good set of friends. He is deeply missed, but we all try to honour him by taking the things he taught us with us as we try to move forward with our lives." Brit tourist reveals horror after being drugged & robbed by 3 women on Ipanema beach in ‘Goodnight Cinderella' scam

Horrifying footage showed the holidaymaker collapsing unconscious on Rio de Janeiro's popular Ipanema beach after falling victim to the trick alongside his pal. 10 A Brit tourist who fell to the ground after reportedly being drugged by local women has broken his silence Credit: Newsflash 10 Two Brit men who fell victim to the scam have told local media about their experience Credit: Newsflash 10 Mayara Ketelyn Americo da Silva, 26, is alleged to have carried out the scam on the Brit Credit: Newsflash 10 Raiane Campos de Oliveira, 27, has been arrested 20 times for similar offences Credit: Newsflash Following his horror experience, the first-time visitor to Brazil, a 21-year-old engineering student, said: 'Maybe I'll come back one day but for now I think it's enough of this country.' The Brit said when recalling the terrifying ordeal: "I took two sips and I don't remember anything else." He added: "I tried to fight the drug. By the time I got to the beach I was completely out of it." He also explained that cops were still probing the ruse which has become increasingly common in Brazil among sex workers and escorts. Criminals posing as friendly locals often use Rohypnol, GHB - or any date rape drug - to drug tourists and rob them. Three suspects have been arrested and identified as Amanda Couto Deloca, 23, Mayara Ketelyn Americo da Silva, 26, and Raiane Campos de Oliveira, 27. The victim spoke to local media alongside a second British student who was also targeted. The other Brit revealed that just before losing consciousness he threw his phone into the sand when he sussed something was wrong to avoid the "Goodnight Cinderella" scam. He told Brazilian outlet G1: 'I must have realised what was going on and threw my phone.' The other victim who was filmed as he collapsed in the sand, said they had spent "a beautiful 10 days" in the country before the ordeal. The alleged crime occurred during the Brit pair's midweek night out last week when they were approached by the female thieves at a bar in the Rio neighbourhood of Lapa. Inside romance scam target lonely singles on dating apps but what they don't know is if we die They had been in Brazil for 10 days when they were targeted and had reportedly travelled to the South American country to celebrate the graduation of one of the university students. The Brit victims were young university students and met three women at a Samba dance. After heading to a local bar to carry on the evening, one of the victim's said he was handed a Caipirinha cocktail before losing all consciousness. When he woke up in hospital, he said £16,000 had been stolen from his account. Horrifying footage showed one of the tourists staggering along the beachfront before collapsing into the sand. The women are then seen running along the street and jumping into a taxi before quickly leaving the area. The Brit pair also thanked a local teenage delivery man called an ambulance and helped police catch the alleged culprits. The victim said: "I would like to thank him, whoever he is. "He filmed, called an ambulance, and helped the police track down the suspects. Thank you to him, whoever he is." 10 Amanda Couto Deloca, 23, is suspected of doping the Brit Credit: Newsflash 10 They had been holidaying in Brazil at the time Credit: Newsflash 10 The tourist told how he took a few sips, 'and then nothing' Credit: Newsflash The Good Samaritan also filmed the shocking footage of the 21-year-old Brit collapsing unconscious on the sand. He told local media: 'He was unresponsive. He was drooling. 'His eye was open. His face was in the sand. "I called the emergency services and they confirmed police and an ambulance were on their way.' The video he filmed also showed the three suspects who were later arrested fleeing the scene. According to investigators, the women are sex workers who target tourists in the city. Campos de Oliveira, was even previously jailed for six months for the same type of offence - and she been arrested 20 times before. Officers also identified the taxi driver who drove the women away after committing the offence, though he is not believed to have been involved. 10 The three suspects were filmed running and getting into a taxi Credit: Newsflash 10 They said they had spent 'a beautiful 10 days' in Brazil Credit: Newsflash The Special Tourism Support Unit have launched an investigation into the case and have urged visitors to be extra careful when socialising with strangers. Police chief Patricia Alemany said the toxicology tests to find out exactly what drug had been used to spike the British men's drinks were still being done. Cops also requested CCTV images from the area to try to identify possible accomplices. This comes as the scam has become worryingly widespread in the area with handfuls of tourists suffering its consequences. Criminal law professor Ronny Nunes, outlined the difficulties of convicting "Goodnight Cinderella" thieves. She said: 'Generally the victims of this type of crime are foreign tourists. 'This person files a report at the police station, and the investigation begins. "When it is necessary to consult this person, to ask them to identify someone, or even when proceedings have already been initiated, to ask them to go to court, before the judge and prosecutor, to confirm their statement, they are sometimes not found. "When the statement, that first one at the police station, is not ratified in court, conviction becomes very difficult, and acquittal is imposed.'
