Former Teammate Says Bo Nix and RJ Harvey Will Be 'One of the Best' QB-RB Duos in NFL
Former Teammate Says Bo Nix and RJ Harvey Will Be 'One of the Best' QB-RB Duos in NFL originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Denver Broncos have reshaped their offense throughout two seasons. With Bo Nix at the helm at quarterback and RJ Harvey the new leading running back in Denver, the offense is drastically improved. Advertisement From the view of a former college teammate of both Nix and Harvey, the duo will be "one of the best" in the NFL in 2025. In an article from Luca Evans of the Denver Post, Kobe Hudson, a former teammate of Nix and Harvey, shared his thoughts on the new Broncos quarterback and running back duo. "They will be like," Hudson said, "... one of the best quarterback-running back duos in the league, I believe, this year coming out. Like, first year [together]." Nix is entering his second year in the NFL, and Harvey will be in his rookie season. But despite the duo being in their first season together, Hudson sees the duo as one that can be among the best in the NFL. Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix (10) during the first quarter against the Kansas City Chiefs at Empower Field at Mile Chenoy-Imagn Images In Nix's rookie season, he was third in Offensive Rookie of the Year voting and had an overall incredible year. He threw for 3,775 yards with a completion percentage of 66.3. Nix also threw for 29 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, culminating in a passer rating of 93.3. Advertisement Harvey's final year of college was also great. He had 1,577 rushing yards and 22 rushing touchdowns, which tied for fourth in FBS. Harvey was also a solid receiver, hauling in 20 receptions for 267 yards and three touchdowns in 2024. Around the NFL, there are plenty of great quarterback and running back duos. Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley of the Philadelphia Eagles, and Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry of the Baltimore Ravens are the two standouts. Despite the tough competition, Hudson believes that his former teammates can not only be great together, but also be among the best quarterback and running back duos in the NFL in their first season together. Former Broncos CB Ronald Darby Announces Retirement from NFL originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Veteran cornerback and Super Bowl LII champion Ronald Darby has informed the Houston Texans that he intends to retire from the NFL, according to a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter. Darby had signed a one-year, $2.5 million contract with the Texans earlier in the offseason. Advertisement Darby's professional career spanned 10 years and stints with six different teams – the Buffalo Bills, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Commanders (then, the Washington Football Team), Denver Broncos, Baltimore Ravens and Jacksonville Jaguars. Darby spent the 2021 and 2022 seasons with the Broncos, making 16 total appearances during that time span. Although he did not force any turnovers during his time in the Mile High City, he recorded 63 tackles and defended nine passes while playing in the team's secondary. New York Giants wide receiver Kenny Golladay (19) catches the ball over Denver Broncos cornerback Ronald Darby (21) during the second half at MetLife Carchietta-Imagn Images Over the course of his entire NFL career, Darby played in 118 games, where he made 419 tackles (including 354 solo stops) and defended 106 passes. He also picked off eight passes, returning them for 135 yards. Advertisement Darby received one major honor in the professional ranks – he was named to the Pro Football Writers of America's All-Rookie Team in 2015 – but his crowning achievement was earning a Super Bowl ring with the Philadelphia Eagles during the 2017 season. He played an important role the championship game, defending two passes (tied for the most of any player on the team) and making four tackles in the Eagles' eventual 41-33 win over the New England Patriots. The Bills selected Darby with the No. 50 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft after three strong seasons at Florida State. Darby won a BCS national championship with the Seminoles in 2013, while also being named the ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year and a FWAA Freshman All-American the year before. The 49ers complete trade to acquire edge rusher Bryce Huff from the Eagles for a mid-round pick
SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — The San Francisco 49ers have completed the trade with the Philadelphia Eagles for edge rusher Bryce Huff. Huff restructured his contract with the Eagles last week to help facilitate the trade that will send a 2026 mid-round pick to Philadelphia and the teams announced it on Monday, pending a physical. Huff was set to make $17 million in fully guaranteed money this year. The Eagles will pay $9.05 million of that with the 49ers on the hook for the remaining $7.95 million, ESPN reported last week. The move to acquire Huff gives San Francisco another needed option at edge rusher across from star Nick Bosa and reunites Huff with Robert Saleh, who was his head coach at the New York Jets during his most productive season in 2023. Huff had 10 sacks that season and recorded 67 pressures on just 334 pass rush snaps, according to Pro Football Focus. Huff translated that breakthrough season into a three-year, $51.1 million deal with the Eagles. He had only 2 1/2 sacks and 23 pressures in his one season in Philadelphia, missing five games with a wrist injury. He was then a healthy scratch in the Super Bowl. Huff was originally an undrafted free agent by the Jets in 2020 out of Memphis. He had 7 1/2 sacks in his first three seasons before the breakthrough campaign under Saleh in 2023. The Niners were in need of another pass rusher after cutting Leonard Floyd early in the offseason. They drafted Mykel Williams 11th overall in April but had no other defensive end who had a season with at least five sacks in the NFL. Yetur Gross-Matos is the only other edge rusher on the roster with extensive experience. Gross-Matos had four sacks last season in his first year with San Francisco. The Eagles have undergone significant changes at edge rusher this offseason with Brandon Graham retiring and Josh Sweat leaving to sign with Arizona in free agency. Philadelphia is counting on increased contributions from returning players Nolan Smith and Jalyx Hunt and has also signed Azeez Ojulari and Joshua Uche in free agency. ___ AP NFL:
