Gwyneth Paltrow's Astronomer Role Is Revealed

Buzz Feeda day ago
Today in "News You Didn't See Coming," Gwyneth Paltrow was hired at Astronomer — yes, the company that recently made the news after two of its employees were caught "having an affair" at a Coldplay concert.
As a now-viral video shows, singer and (Gwyneth's ex) Chris Martin was highlighting fans on the jumbotron at a recent concert when the camera cut to two people canoodling in the audience. Realizing they were on camera, the two immediately panicked and hid, leading Chris to joke that they were "having an affair."
Then last night, it was revealed that Gwyneth had been hired as a "temporary spokesperson" for the tech company. The actor announced the news herself in a video statement shared to Astronomer's X account. "Thank you for your interest in Astronomer," Gwyneth began. "Hi, I'm Gwyneth Paltrow. I've been hired on a very temporary basis to speak on behalf of the 300-plus employees at Astronomer."
She said, "Astronomer has gotten a lot of questions over the last few days. And they wanted me to answer the most common ones."
Viewers reacted to the video in the comments, with many calling it a "genius" and "brilliant" way to capitalize on all the publicity.
"Turning an internet dragging of their CEO into a full-blown PR moment by bringing in Chris Martin's ex as a spokesperson? That's not marketing, that's wizardry," one tweet with over 4,000 likes read. "Guys this is a PR masterclass," another agreed, garnering over 12,000 likes. "You take the most viral moment of July 2025 and, instead of disaster control, make light of the situation and create the ultimate brand awareness. Bravo."
Someone else said it was "one of the best crisis responses" they've ever seen. "You hired the Coldplay singer's ex-wife. Extraordinary," said another.
"Honestly, well done to the marketing team, this is incredible haha," one viewer wrote on Reddit, as others called it both a "brilliant" and "hilarious" move by the company. "This is so unserious, I love it," said one person, as another called it "well-played." "Their social media and PR team all deserve a nice vacation far away from any upcoming Coldplay concerts," one more shared.
Honestly, yes. Hopefully, Chris responds to it — I'm dying to know what he thinks! Until then, share your thoughts on all of this in the comments.

Ryan Reynolds's ad agency, Maximum Effort, was behind the Gwyneth Paltrow Astronomer ad

Gwyneth Paltrow isn't the only big name attached to Astronomer's cheeky response to " Coldplaygate." Ryan Reynolds' company, Maximum Effort, announced its involvement with a lighthearted X post on Sunday. "Thank you for your interest in Maximum Effort, @astronomerio! We'll now get back to what we do best: motion pictures with Hugh Jackman, Fastvertising and Wrexham football," the post said. "We'll leave data workflow automation to ̶ G̶w̶y̶n̶e̶t̶h̶ ̶P̶a̶ Astronomer. Reynolds launched Maximum Effort with his business partner, George Dewey, in 2018. The company makes ads, movies, and shows, often with an irreverent bent. Astronomer's cofounder and new CEO, Pete DeJoy, thanked Maximum Effort in a LinkedIn post on Sunday after praising his staff. "I'd also like to thank the team at Maximum Effort for their remarkable work with our very temporary spokesperson," DeJoy said. "As Gwyneth Paltrow said, now it's time for us to return to what we do best: delivering game-changing results for our customers. We look forward to what this next chapter holds for Astronomer." Although Astronomer began July as a little-known tech company, it grew into a pop culture phenomenon after its now-former CEO, Andy Byron, attended a Coldplay concert with the company's now-former head of human resources, Kristin Cabot. A "kiss cam" projected the pair embracing on a jumbotron during the concert. Cabot spun around and shielded her face, while Byron attempted to duck out of view. "Uh oh, what? Either they're having an affair or they're just very shy," Coldplay front man Chris Martin said onstage. A clip of the moment — now dubbed "Coldplaygate" — was shared widely on social media, where people cracked jokes and shared related memes. Companies and sports teams also got in on the fun. Following the flood of attention, Byron and Cabot resigned from their positions with the company. Astronomer was left to pick up the remains of its public reputation. That's when Paltrow entered the scene. Paltrow, who was previously married to Martin, appeared as a "temporary" spokesperson for Astronomer in a one-minute video shared on social media. At the time of writing, the video has 149,000 likes and over 36 million views. Instead of answering the internet's burning questions, Paltrow used the platform to promote Astronomer's products. "Thank you for your interest in Astronomer," Paltrow said at the video's end.

Couple embarrassed to be seen at Coldplay concert

There are plenty of places people don't want to be caught having an affair. Say in the bathroom of a Panera or their husband's bed. But concerts are among the worst. Want to have a romantic tryst? Try avoiding the Nickelback or Katy Perry concerts. The last thing you want is your wife finding out you've been stanning Three Doors Down in addition to kissing your son's geometry teacher. But hindsight is 20/20, and as one couple is finding out the hard way, Coldplay has a kiss cam. As users of social media are likely already aware, Andy Byron, the CEO of Astonomer, was caught on the kisscam canoodling with his Chief People Officer, Kristin Cabot, at a Coldplay concert. The silver lining is that they won't have to disclose their relationship to HR as the news has rocketed across social media. Now, users must live with the reality that the CEO of one of the industry leaders in DataOp platforms powered by Apache Airflow, a man they likely once considered 'Daddy' (no relation to the Coldplay hit 'Daddy') or even 'Zaddy,' is a Coldplay fan. Usually, The A.V. Club wouldn't take such delight in public displays of schadenfreude, but what can one do when Coldplay is such a reliable source of search traffic? Initially posted by TikTok user @instaagraace, the video features singer Chris Martin engaging in some innocent stage banter by pointing the concert cameras at the audience. Following the crowning of an overjoyed, unnamed birthday boy, Byron and Cabot can be seen gently swaying in blissful ignorance of a very near future wherein the world sees Byron performing the old 'my girlfriend's paying' routine with Cabot after what was surely a rockin' rendition of 'Viva La Vida.' Their revelry ends as Byron and Cabots' respective piercing blue eyes gaze upon the circular jumbo tron, like a magic mirror showing them an encroaching reality where their personal lives are disrupted for, let's say, the next few months. We can imagine the taunts now: 'So, Andy, see any stars lately? Do they shine for you? Are they all yellow?' Just humiliating. 'Oh, look at these two,' Martin says as the couple turns in horror. 'Either they're having an affair or they're just very shy.' Perhaps they're just a little embarrassed to be seen having such a good time. Sadly, the stink of being outed as a Coldplay fan doesn't wash out so easily. More from A.V. Jennifer Lopez Has A Wardrobe Malfunction At Concert

On Friday, Jennifer Lopez's Up All Night Tour stopped in Warsaw, Poland, where she performed in front of a reported crowd of over 70,000 people. If you haven't seen the footage, it looked like a great night — except for one unfortunate moment when part of the outfit she was wearing became undone. Jennifer — who happened to be celebrating her 56th birthday that night — wore a sparkly gold bralette and a fringed miniskirt, accessorizing with matching full-sleeve gloves and sparkly gold heels. She was backstage, changing into the outfit, when a member of her team invited the band and the audience to join them in singing "Happy Birthday" to her. Seemingly unprepared, but not wanting to miss the song, Jennifer rushed back onstage as a team member followed close behind, seemingly trying to fasten her skirt. "Thank you!" Jennifer told the crowd. "Thank you, Warsaw!" But as she stepped forward, the skirt slipped down, exposing her gold undergarments. At first, she screamed, but then she decided to embrace it. "I'm out here in my underwear," Jennifer said, raising her hands and twirling for the crowd. Laughing, she added, "That's gonna be everywhere!" A team member attempted to help her fix the skirt, but at that point, there was no point, and Jennifer threw it into the audience. "I'm glad they reinforced that costume," she joked, "and I'm glad I had underwear on!" Watch the moment here: Viewers thought it was hilarious — and they also appreciated Jennifer's sense of humor about the situation. Taking to Reddit, one person wrote, "Now that's how a professional recovers 😂." Another said, "Lmao she knows she looks good either way. Thats power." "Well that was smooth lol," commented another. "She looks great!" While someone else said, "I love that recovery lmao" In response to some speculation that it was "staged," one viewer suggested, "It was obviously two outfits in one, it just detached too early than expected. But she was also meant to be in the 'after' one at some point." "Yea, was gonna say it might've been intentional but then saw the giant mic pack behind her; ain't no way wardrobe would want that showing on stage. Good on them for handling it so smoothly," one more added. Either way, as Reddit user Character_Seaweed_99 said, "this is why you should always wear nice underwear."
