BSF Foils Narco-Drone Infiltration: Two Pakistani Drones Carrying Heroin Intercepted In Punjabs Amritsar
In a press release, the BSF stated that technical countermeasures deployed on the border intercepted and neutralised two drones on the Amritsar border, which were subsequently recovered by BSF troops.
The recovery of 02 DJI Mavic 3 Classic drones along with 02 packets of heroin (Gross weight- 1.130 Kgs) took place from an area adjacent to the village, Dhanoe Kalan, as per the release.
The release further stated, "These successful recoveries of drones with narcotics highlight the perfect combination of robust technical countermeasures and alert BSF troops deployed on borders, who are committed to decimate nefarious designs of cross-border Pakistani drug syndicate."
On Sunday, the BSF recovered the upper body of a pistol, four magazines and a drone in two significant operations with a large heroin packet in Punjab's Tarn Taran.
According to the release, "On Sunday early morning, the BSF troops carried out a search operation, which culminated in the recovery of one packet containing the upper body of a pistol and four magazines wrapped in yellow adhesive tape with an iron ring and a torch attached to it. This recovery took place from a waterlogged paddy field adjacent to the village of Wan."
In another incident in the morning hours, acting on specific information, a joint search operation was conducted by the BSF and Punjab Police, which led to the recovery of one DJI Matrice 300 RTK drone carrying 01 large packet of heroin (Gross Weight- 3.700 Kgs) from a farming field adjacent to village- Shekhpura of district Tarn Taran. The narcotics packet, wrapped in yellow colour adhesive tape, was found attached to the drone with the help of a metal ring.
Reliable input and keen observation, followed by swift action of BSF troops, once again thwarted these nefarious attempts of Pakistan-based smugglers trying to pump drugs and arms in Punjab from across the border.

Srinagar: The security forces used drones and attack helicopters during a protracted anti-terror operation in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district. In the initial shootout, one local terrorist was killed. Subsequently, police said that one more terrorist was killed, but his body couldn't be recovered due to the ongoing fierce gun battle. Three soldiers have also been injured in the encounter. "So far, we have recovered the body of one terrorist. We have observed the body of another terrorist, but we will wait till the body is recovered. It's a difficult terrain and a dense forest area," said VK Birdi, IGP Kashmir. Police sources say there was information about the presence of five terrorists when the operation was launched. According to reports, at least two or three are foreign terrorists who appear to be well-trained in jungle warfare. There are very few local terrorists left in Kashmir and they are scarcely trained to face the security forces. According to Mr Birdi, firing is still going on and terrorists appear to be firing from two directions. This is the third encounter in the last week. Earlier, three terrorists, who were behind the Pahalgam massacre, were killed in a meticulously planned operation by the security forces. Union Home Minister Amit Shah told Parliament that the three were identified as Pakistani terrorists who had carried out brutal killings of 26 innocent people in Pahalgam on April 22. On Thursday, two more terrorists were killed near the line of control in Poonch. Police said that they had infiltrated from Pakistan and were intercepted soon after they entered the Indian side.

Supervisor held for duping Coimbatore-based contractor of Rs 78 lakh
COIMBATORE: The district crime branch police on Monday arrested a 51-year-old man for duping a Coimbatore-based contractor of Rs 78 lakh. The arrested man has been identified as N Rajan, 51, of Sir Shanmugam Road near R S Puram in the city. In 2021, Rajan joined Bharathi Constructions as a supervisor. The firm, owned by R Kalaivani of Malumichampatti, took contracts for road work in Thondamuthur, Perur, Alanthurai, Thenkarai municipalities in Coimbatore district and Sholur municipality in the Nilgiris district. Rajan was supervising the work undertaken by the firm. He was maintaining the firm's bank accounts. In 2022, the firm took a contract for laying roads in Sholur municipality in the Nilgiris district. Rajan was maintaining the accounts of the work. When the work was delayed, Kalaivani questioned Rajan. As Rajan did not answer properly, Kalaivani went to the bank and verified the firm's bank account handled by Rajan. He assured her to return the money he had transferred to his accounts and those of his wife and friends. But he returned only Rs 33 lakh to Kalaivani. When Kalaivani's efforts to retrieve the remaining Rs 78 lakh went in vain, she lodged a formal complaint with the district crime branch police on Saturday (Aug 2). The police registered a case against Rajan under Section 408 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and arrested him on Monday. He was remanded in judicial custody.

Police in Hyderabad have registered for new FIRs following fresh complaints by victims on an alleged IVF and surrogacy scam linked to the Universal Srushti Fertility Centre in Hyderabad. The new complaints, filed with the Gopalpuram police, accuse the centre's management of an elaborate scheme involving fraud, medical malpractice and financial extortion. The latest developments, which include a complaint by an NRI couple, bring to light the transnational reach of the alleged racket and a suspected organised network operating across the state. Police sources indicate that the investigation intensified after new victims came forward with documented evidence, including medical reports and financial transaction details. One couple from Nalgonda district claimed they were cheated of Rs 44 lakh. They named Dr Namratha, the fertility manager, along with Dr Sadanandam, Chenna Rao, Archana, and Surekha, as individuals who played active roles in the fraudulent scheme. An NRI couple claimed to have been allegedly duped of Rs 25 lakh. In a separate case, a Hyderabad-based woman accused Dr Namratha of administering unnecessary hormone injections under the guise of fertility treatment. She claimed to have been financially extorted through a network of individuals, including Dr Vidyulatha, Kalyani, Seshagiri, and Srinivasa Reddy, all of whom are staff members linked to the fertility centre. Investigators believe the scam may be part of a larger, well-coordinated racket that exploits legal loopholes and the emotional vulnerability of childless couples. Police are now probing links between the accused and possible external facilitators, and further arrests are anticipated. The investigation began earlier this year when initial complaints were filed by couples who felt misled and exploited by the fertility centre. Authorities are currently examining clinic records and financial trails. Legal experts anticipate that with more victims likely to come forward, the case could lead to criminal proceedings under multiple sections, including cheating, criminal conspiracy, and violations of medical ethics.
