Anees Bazmee's debut Marathi film features National Award-winning actor Amruta Subhash.
Acclaimed filmmaker Anees Bazmee is ready to foray into Marathi cinema, debuting with his upcoming psychological horror film Jarann. Starring National Award-winning actor Amruta Subhash, the first trailer has finally been released with some chilling visuals and an unsettling mood. Bazmee is known for delivering some major Bollywood hits like Welcome, No Entry, Singh Is Kinng, and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2.
A trailer launch event was held in Mumbai on Friday, with several celebrities in attendance, like Jackie Shroff, Anil Sharma, Raj Mehta, Vikas Bahl, and Bazmee himself.
At the event, the filmmaker expressed his excitement about expanding into Marathi cinema with a story that he hopes will resonate beyond language barriers. 'This subject is deeply rooted in our society. Personally, I don't believe in ghosts—but if you asked me to go to a deserted mansion at 2 a.m., I wouldn't go. That's because I've witnessed a lot over time. Some people do practice black magic, and many hold strange, deep-seated beliefs. This kind of superstition has existed in our society for generations, and it's not something that can be erased overnight," he said, giving hints about the narrative.
Previously, in a statement, Bazmee shared how he admired the depth and quality of Marathi cinema. 'When I saw this film's narrative, I was immediately drawn to its strength and the director's vision. It's a privilege to support such meaningful storytelling," he added, as per the Times of India.
Coming back to the trailer, Amruta Subhash will be seen as a married woman whose ordinary life takes an unexpected turn due to some unexplainable eerie incidents. The video opens to show several happy family moments, only to show the woman encountering unusual things in her house. Moments later, Amruta will be seen exhibiting signs of possession, leaving her family members terrified.
Apart from Amruta Subhash, other cast members include Anita Date Kelkar, Kishor Kadam, Jyoti Malshe, Rajan Bhise, Seema Deshmukh, Vikram Gaikwad, Avanee Joshi and Durva Deodhar in key roles. Presented by Anees Bazmee in association with A&N Cinema LLP, Jarann is written and directed by Rushikesh Gupte.
The film will be released on June 5.

Video: This Is How Japan Is Expanding Its Food Scene To Celebrate Indian Cuisine

Last Updated: In a set of Instagram videos, creator Sonam Midha visits two places that have embraced Indian flavours and culture. Japan's love for food is world-famous. While sushi and ramen often steal the spotlight, a new culinary wave is stirring, one that celebrates India. Across Fukuoka and beyond, chefs are serving authentic regional dishes and sharing heartfelt stories. In a series of Instagram videos, creator Sonam Midha explores two standout spots that have embraced Indian flavours: Indian Spice Factory and a unique eatery introducing Nagpur's fiery Saoji cuisine to Japan. Indian Spice Factory At Indian Spice Factory, Sonam enjoyed a traditional Bengali spread served on banana leaves, with dishes like karela bhaja, pui shaag, bhaja muger dal, and a comforting cup of hot chai. The space radiates an unmistakably Indian charm, an Indian flag at the entrance, stone idols of Radha and Krishna inside, and classical instruments like the tabla and sitar adding to the ambience. The People Behind It Chef Koji Nakayama says he lived in Kolkata for around five years. He managed Japanese restaurants across Kolkata, Delhi and Chennai. His wife, Sachiko, often wears a saree and shares his love for India. Their love for Indian cuisine was palpable as they even brought seeds from India to grow vegetables that aren't available locally. In her caption, Sonam wrote that their love for India and Indian culture was 'unmatched," calling it 'an honour" to meet Sachiko-san and Nakayama-san. 'If you are living in or planning a trip to Fukuoka, don't miss visiting this gem of a place in the city," she added. 'Mini Nagpur' In Japan Sonam also visited a second restaurant run by Takashi, who fell in love with Nagpur's Saoji cuisine. He learned Marathi, styled the menu in Marathi and named his place 'Saoji Bhojnalaya." The menu includes: mutton dal saag, shahi murgi, Parsi pulao with dal, tarri poha and rabri. Once a week, he serves Parsi food. How It Started During the COVID-19 pandemic, Takashi found a Saoji recipe online and tried it himself. That began his journey. 'I love Nagpur, I really love it," he says while explaining why he built his own 'mini-Nagpur" in Japan. Saoji is a super-spicy, deeply flavourful style from Nagpur, Maharashtra. It is known for robust spice blends and hearty meat dishes, originally prepared by the Saoji community. Where To Try Indian Spice Factory is in Kasuga, Fukuoka. Takashi serves his Saoji menu at Midori Store in Ohashi, Kyushu. Bengali Girl Teaches Uncle ‘Shaky Shaky' Dance, Internet Calls Her ‘Next Saroj Khan'

Last Updated: Like a professional choreographer, the little girl tries to teach the Shaky Shaky moves step-by-step, but the father is struggling. Isha Malviya's Marathi music video, Shaky Shaky, has become the trendiest song in recent times. The infectious hook step got everyone on the internet grooving with their own take on the track. Thousands of users are taking to social media to share their dance videos. Out of all the performances, a video of a father and daughter dancing to this trendy track is breaking the internet. The delightful reel, which has taken social media by storm, features a young girl trying her best to teach her father the hook step of the popular song. What's In The Video? In the heart-melting video that comes with an overlay text, 'Papa born to do the nagin dance, forced to do shaky shaky," the little girl confidently leads the choreography and guides her dad through the peppy moves of the song. Like a professional choreographer, she tries to teach the moves step-by-step, but the father is clearly struggling. After repeated practice, when the father failed to perform the moves, the child was seen adorably scolding as she was visibly frustrated. But the father's willingness to learn and the child's changing expressions have left viewers smiling. How did the internet react? Whether he masters the Shaky Shaky moves or not, this papa has won the internet's heart. Social media users couldn't stop admiring the little girl's choreography and the father's hilarious dance steps. A majority of users pointed out that the father struggled hard not to do the Naagin dance. 'She is teaching so cutely, and Dad is in full mood with 'Mein Nagin Nagin dance nachna,'" read a comment. Another wrote, 'Struggling hard not to do that Naagin pose." 'She is born to be a choreographer," commented a user. An individual stated, 'Golden moment of a father and daughter." 'OMGG!!! It's such a cute video…," wrote an Instagram user. An account posted, 'This is the cutest thing I have seen today." 'Even I can't do this dance…looks like this choreographer is my only hope to learn the dance," a user remarked. Another individual wrote, 'Papa is cute!!! Andar ka nagin dance Bahar aa raha hai." Shaky Shaky's Journey Reflecting on his idea of blending different beats in Shaky, singer Sanju Rathod, in an interview with The Rolling Stones India, explained, 'It's a space where folk and pop, traditional and contemporary, could merge into something entirely new. So honestly, fusion was always around me growing up. He instinctively sang a few lines from an old Banjara folk song that had a strong Rajasthani feel. We recorded it, processed his voice to sound like a choral female section, and suddenly, there was this hauntingly beautiful folk layer in the track." The singer, who first gained attention with the 2024 song Gulabi Sadi, shared that his love for folk music and pop sounds comes from spending a lot of time on YouTube while growing up. But his interest in hip hop began after his breakup in college. The girl he was dating at the time was a huge fan of Yo Yo Honey Singh, and after their relationship ended, he felt motivated to become a well-known artist. That's when he started writing Hindi songs, inspired by Honey Singh's hip hop style. view comments Location : Mumbai, India, India First Published: August 19, 2025, 13:32 IST News viral Bengali Girl Teaches Uncle 'Shaky Shaky' Dance, Internet Calls Her 'Next Saroj Khan' | Video Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
