TMC MP Mahua Moitra opted for a Jamdani saree and a matching blouse in a rich red hue with intricate golden embroidery for the reception. Her dewy makeup look, complete with red bindi and lipstick, added to her elegance.
Mahua paired the saree with a statement layered gold necklace and matching earrings, and also added a minimal maang tika to complete the look. She styled her hair in a simple bun and went for a bold, elegant makeup look with shades of bronze, highlighting her eyes with kajal and mascara, and a bright red lip colour.
Her husband, Pinaki Misra, a member of the Biju Janata Dal party who served as a Member of Parliament, chose a white kurta with red embroidery to complement the bride's bright red saree.

In an emotional conversation with News18, they said they are determined to hold the state accountable and have now called for a massive protest marc h to the West Bengal State Secretariat, Nabanna, on August 9, to demand answers from the government. Abhaya, a junior doctor, last spoke to her parents on August 8, 2024, saying her schedule was hectic. The next call they received was a distressing one from the hospital—initially stating she was ill, but later communicating that she had allegedly taken her own life. 'Since then, we have been fighting. Now we have called for the 'Nabanna Abhijan' (Secretariat March) ourselves," said Abhaya's father, with tears in his eyes. 'Our daughter was under the State's protection. The investigation was led by the Chief Minister herself at the time, along with senior health officials. From the start, they tried to cover up the case. Mamata Banerjee must answer for this." Responding to allegations by Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Kunal Ghosh that political motives are behind their protest, Abhaya's father lashed out: 'He even sends me private messages. We have invited everyone — across political lines — to join the protest. Even TMC members who truly feel for Abhaya are welcome to be part of this movement." When asked whether they believe justice has been served, both parents categorically denied it. 'There has been no proper investigation," said her father. 'The CBI arrested Sandip Ghosh and an officer-in-charge for evidence tampering, but they failed to file a supplementary chargesheet. Why? We don't believe only one person was involved in this crime. There's a larger nexus that has been protected." Her mother, too, expressed her anguish: 'Was Abhaya without a guardian? From the very beginning, the State tried to suppress the truth. But we won't stop. Our fight will go on." Questioned about the CBI's findings that implicated accused Sanjay Roy, she added, 'We met CBI officials in Delhi. They have told us they are planning to close the case. We've told them to say that in court, not to us. What kind of agency gives up on justice? This is unacceptable." As the family marks one painful year since Abhaya's death, they remain resolute. 'Our daughter had given us everything and asked for nothing. She was our strength," said her father. 'She never compromised on principles, and neither will we. We'll continue this fight—not just for Abhaya, but for every daughter failed by the system." Odisha notifies saffron shade colour for govt buildings
Bhubaneswar: The BJP government in Odisha has issued a notification making saffron colour code mandatory for all new and old office buildings owned by the State. The notification, issued by the Works department, said, 'The government has been pleased for adoption of uniform colour code henceforth for all new government buildings as well as existing buildings at the time of periodical repair/renovation works executed.' The order dated July 30 suggested RGB (red, green and blue) shades, resembling light saffron and terracotta for exterior walls and borders respectively. The order is applicable for all State government departments and public sector undertakings. The State government had also issued a similar order in October last year. The government had then instructed all engineering heads to adopt the new colour code for all new government buildings and the existing ones at the time of periodic repair and renovation works. Earlier in March this year, all government schools in the State were asked to paint buildings in shades of orange first and the borders in orange tan during construction, repair and renovation. The BJP government, led by Mohan Charan Majhi, also changed the colour and design of uniforms for secondary school students from white and green to light brown and maroon under Mukhyamantri Chhatra Chhatri Paridhan Yojana. The Opposition BJD, in a statement, strongly criticised the BJP government for focusing on the colour change instead of giving attention to real developmental activities. 'It is an effort to divert the attention of people from the ongoing atrocities on women and girls in the State,' said BJD spokesperson Lenin Mohanty. 'During the 13-month rule of the BJP government, the government has completely failed to provide good governance. Law and order in the State has deteriorated and women have become unsafe. Development has stalled. Question papers have been leaked 13 times in 13 months of rule. The government has completely failed in conducting flawless examinations and organising flawless Rath Yatra. Instead of taking corrective measures, it is busy with colour change,' Mohanty said. Senior Congress leader and former OPCC president Jaydev Jena said: 'Changing colour of building, dress of students and cover of milk packets shows the weak mentality of a national party and its local government.'

BJP workers attacked in Dinahata, pregnant woman among injured
Jalpaiguri: Several BJP workers, including a pregnant woman, were injured after their homes were attacked by a group of about 30 miscreants in Dinhata's Salmara area on Thursday morning. While BJP squarely blamed Trinamool for the attack, TMC said it was a fallout of the saffron party's internal rivalry. Police have started a probe. The miscreants, armed with lathis and bamboo sticks, attacked the houses of 'shakti pramukh' Jitendra Barman, Tarini Kanta Barman, Nazirhat-II GP member Juthika Barman and Mahila Morcha neta Malina Barman and vandalised them. Cooch Behar BJP president Avijit Barman claimed that the attack was carried out to avenge the complaint against 42 TMC supporters, including Udayan Guha. Trinamool rubbished the allegations. "We don't believe in violence. It was locals who attacked the BJP functionaries to protest the efforts to conduct SIR and impose NRC," said Dipak Bhattacharya, TMC's Dinhata-II president.
