IDEX Corporation Just Beat EPS By 5.8%: Here's What Analysts Think Will Happen Next

It's been a mediocre week for IDEX Corporation (NYSE:IEX) shareholders, with the stock dropping 14% to US$159 in the week since its latest second-quarter results. The result was positive overall - although revenues of US$865m were in line with what the analysts predicted, IDEX surprised by delivering a statutory profit of US$1.74 per share, modestly greater than expected. Following the result, the analysts have updated their earnings model, and it would be good to know whether they think there's been a strong change in the company's prospects, or if it's business as usual. We've gathered the most recent statutory forecasts to see whether the analysts have changed their earnings models, following these results. We've found 21 US stocks that are forecast to pay a dividend yield of over 6% next year. See the full list for free. Taking into account the latest results, the current consensus from IDEX's twelve analysts is for revenues of US$3.43b in 2025. This would reflect an okay 2.8% increase on its revenue over the past 12 months. Statutory per share are forecast to be US$6.25, approximately in line with the last 12 months. Yet prior to the latest earnings, the analysts had been anticipated revenues of US$3.44b and earnings per share (EPS) of US$6.70 in 2025. So it looks like there's been a small decline in overall sentiment after the recent results - there's been no major change to revenue estimates, but the analysts did make a minor downgrade to their earnings per share forecasts. Check out our latest analysis for IDEX The consensus price target held steady at US$201, with the analysts seemingly voting that their lower forecast earnings are not expected to lead to a lower stock price in the foreseeable future. It could also be instructive to look at the range of analyst estimates, to evaluate how different the outlier opinions are from the mean. Currently, the most bullish analyst values IDEX at US$225 per share, while the most bearish prices it at US$170. With such a narrow range of valuations, the analysts apparently share similar views on what they think the business is worth. Taking a look at the bigger picture now, one of the ways we can understand these forecasts is to see how they compare to both past performance and industry growth estimates. It's pretty clear that there is an expectation that IDEX's revenue growth will slow down substantially, with revenues to the end of 2025 expected to display 5.7% growth on an annualised basis. This is compared to a historical growth rate of 7.3% over the past five years. Juxtapose this against the other companies in the industry with analyst coverage, which are forecast to grow their revenues (in aggregate) 4.3% per year. So it's pretty clear that, while IDEX's revenue growth is expected to slow, it's still expected to grow faster than the industry itself. The Bottom Line The biggest concern is that the analysts reduced their earnings per share estimates, suggesting business headwinds could lay ahead for IDEX. Happily, there were no major changes to revenue forecasts, with the business still expected to grow faster than the wider industry. The consensus price target held steady at US$201, with the latest estimates not enough to have an impact on their price targets. Following on from that line of thought, we think that the long-term prospects of the business are much more relevant than next year's earnings. We have forecasts for IDEX going out to 2027, and you can see them free on our platform here. It might also be worth considering whether IDEX's debt load is appropriate, using our debt analysis tools on the Simply Wall St platform, here. Have feedback on this article? We recently published . Avantor, Inc. (NYSE:AVTR)is one of the worst-performing stocks on Friday. Avantor dropped for a third consecutive day on Friday, shedding 15.48 percent to end at $11.36 apiece as investor sentiment was dented by a broader market pessimism and a dismal earnings performance in the second quarter of the year. PepsiCo Insiders Sold US$19m Of Shares Suggesting Hesitancy

Over the past year, many PepsiCo, Inc. (NASDAQ:PEP) insiders sold a significant stake in the company which may have piqued investors' interest. When analyzing insider transactions, it is usually more valuable to know whether insiders are buying versus knowing if they are selling, as the latter sends an ambiguous message. However, when multiple insiders sell stock over a specific duration, shareholders should take notice as that could possibly be a red flag. While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing. Trump has pledged to "unleash" American oil and gas and these 15 US stocks have developments that are poised to benefit. PepsiCo Insider Transactions Over The Last Year The Chairman & CEO, Ramon Laguarta, made the biggest insider sale in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for US$7.7m worth of shares at a price of US$155 each. While insider selling is a negative, to us, it is more negative if the shares are sold at a lower price. The silver lining is that this sell-down took place above the latest price (US$139). So it may not shed much light on insider confidence at current levels. In the last year PepsiCo insiders didn't buy any company stock. You can see a visual depiction of insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last 12 months, below. If you want to know exactly who sold, for how much, and when, simply click on the graph below! View our latest analysis for PepsiCo If you are like me, then you will not want to miss this free list of small cap stocks that are not only being bought by insiders but also have attractive valuations. Insider Ownership Of PepsiCo Looking at the total insider shareholdings in a company can help to inform your view of whether they are well aligned with common shareholders. We usually like to see fairly high levels of insider ownership. PepsiCo insiders own about US$320m worth of shares (which is 0.2% of the company). Most shareholders would be happy to see this sort of insider ownership, since it suggests that management incentives are well aligned with other shareholders. So What Does This Data Suggest About PepsiCo Insiders? There haven't been any insider transactions in the last three months -- that doesn't mean much. While we feel good about high insider ownership of PepsiCo, we can't say the same about the selling of shares. So these insider transactions can help us build a thesis about the stock, but it's also worthwhile knowing the risks facing this company. Case in point: We've spotted 3 warning signs for PepsiCo you should be aware of, and 1 of them is concerning. Of course, you might find a fantastic investment by looking elsewhere. So take a peek at this free list of interesting companies. For the purposes of this article, insiders are those individuals who report their transactions to the relevant regulatory body. We currently account for open market transactions and private dispositions of direct interests only, but not derivative transactions or indirect interests. Have feedback on this article?
