'Gender reveal' rampage after 200 gatecrashers swarm village

Metro19 hours ago
A 'gender reveal' celebration turned into a huge house party with 200 drunken revellers, which had to be broken up by cops.
Airbnb owner Matt Genesis, 33, said he was duped after agreeing to rent his 10-bed £635,000 home out to a group of eight people who booked it via Instagram for a gender reveal.
But the rental turned into a 'Project X' style disaster with hundreds of party-goers flooding the venue, causing chaos and £2,000 worth of damage.
Matt said he was first alerted by noise complaints from neighbours on Wednesday, June 25.
He tried to log in to the property's external security cameras only to discover they had been disconnected at the £450 a night rental.
To his horror, he discovered that minibus loads of revellers had turned up at the quiet cul-de-sac in the village of Norden, Greater Manchester, and others were parking over his neighbours' driveways.
Police in riot vans had to be called to the scene to disperse some of the party-goers who had travelled as far as London to attend the party.
Matt is a director of Fairway Building & Remedial Contractors, the company which owns the property. After arriving at the home at 9.30 pm, he was shocked to find 150 people filling the streets and trying to get into the 10-person home.
Matt said: 'Whilst we were there, minibus after minibus was turning up – I'd say one every 15 minutes, a minibus full of six to eight people walking in. It was out of control – the police turned up. We called them, obviously, neighbours had called them. It was out of our control.
'Even the guy who booked it, it was out of his control on his behalf – he said he didn't expect anywhere near the amount of people, but it's been passed around group and groups.'
Matt said the operation had been 'calculated' – with guests disabling the home's security systems and turning off the Wi-Fi.
'That disabled the cameras, so we weren't able to deal with it any sooner than they could. It was very much 'Project X',' he added.
The embarrassed Airbnb owners were forced to say sorry to neighbours and cancel their next booking as they worked to replace broken furniture and deep clean the damaged house, suffering a total of £2,000 in losses.
The property, which previously underwent a £200,000 renovation and includes a hot tub and pool tables, took three staff 12 hours to clean following the party.
The only money the owners received in return is the £450 per night charge, plus a £250 damage deposit – leaving them well out of pocket.
The property is regularly rented out via Airbnb but on this occasion was booked via Instagram.
Matt said: 'It was so structured, before we emptied the house out the people who were there said 'Where do we go?' Guests had travelled from as far as London for it, so it was very, very calculated.
'It hit us – we seem like the bad guys, but at the same time it did ultimately hit us as well in the pocket.'
Those living nearby were miffed by the chaos. James Gartside, 80, and Jane Gartside, 84, have lived next door to the home for over 50 years and remembered when it was previously owned by an older couple who had passed away.
On Wednesday, the couple first realised something was brewing after they were asked to allow a party-goer to park in their driveway.
Jane said: 'I think I knew it was going to be quite busy, you just got that feeling quite quickly. It was just that night was out of control, when the police came. They calmed it all down – there was no fighting or anything like that. More Trending
'We had a meeting, we went around, they invited us all around and everybody felt very upset. They were very apologetic.'
Mike Law lives on the other side of the property and said: 'They did very well to disperse them, in my opinion. In a way, it was a problem at the time, but it hasn't lasted. There were certainly more than 200 people, I would say, it was a nuisance – but we can be a nuisance to our next-door neighbours.'
Airbnb said it had looked into the situation and found the booking had been made through a third party, with no reservations made for the property on its platform.

Amanda Holden bares her bum as she recreates iconic tennis pose

Amanda Holden looked ace as she sizzled in the sun as she brought he own take on the famous Tennis Girl image after taking a quick tennis-inspired trip to Majorca Cheeky Amanda Holden served up a tennis treat as the age-defying TV and radio star gets ready for the second week of Wimbledon. The 54-year-old Britain's Got Talent recreated the famous Tennis Girl poster as she appeared to brush off recent Ofcom complaints over her daring wardrobe on the ITV show. She showed off some skin as she lifted up part of her pink skirt under the sun in Majorca during a photoshoot. ‌ Her snap, already liked by over 40,000 fans on Instagram alone, saw the star on court as she promoted Revive Collagen. She captioned the upload: "Cheeky? Are you enjoying Wimbledon?" Some of the stars to give her some love were Piers Morgan and Scarlett Moffatt. ‌ The legendary Tennis Girl image was captured by photographer Martin Elliott and it featured his then girlfriend, 18-year-old Fiona Butler, back in 1976. Athena sold more than two million copies - but the model, who went on to become a mother of three and freelance illustrator, did not receive any royalties. She said: "I was very naive and was paid nothing, and I think it's the biggest-selling poster ever. My mother has a very faded copy in what used to be my father's study and I just have it in the form of a very small postcard." Ms Walker was not a keen tennis player and borrowed her tennis dress from a "friend of a friend", her father's plimsolls, and used "the dog's" tennis balls for the image. Meanwhile, Jamie Theakston says Amanda has been a 'key part' of his recovery following a battle with stage one laryngeal cancer, which he was given the all clear for in January. The Heart Breakfast presenter, 54, told Mirror: "Amanda has been fantastic, she's been a part of my recovery. So, yeah, it has brought us closer as friends." Jamie was diagnosed with stage one laryngeal cancer back in September 2024 after listeners noticed a difference in his voice - initially putting it down to a mere sore throat. The broadcaster has since undergone three surgeries and revealed in January that he was cancer free. ‌ And giving an update on how he's feeling now, five months after getting the all clear and returning to work, Jamie said: "I'm feeling great, my family are all really great too." Jamie shares children Sidney, 17, and Kit, 16, with his wife of almost two decades Sophie Siegle, with the presenter admitting that his family are all 'relieved' and happy to have him back in healthy form. While Jamie and Amanda may be tight-knit friends, he revealed that the early morning wake up calls don't always have them on the right side of the bed. "We can be moody sometimes," he laughed. "But we just argue it out on air and then it's fine! "I personally celebrate my 20th year [on Heart] this year - I was only meant to do two! So I don't quite understand how that happened, but, no, I love it, I love going in every day. It's a great job. Here's to twenty more." ‌ Amanda is no stranger to showing off her incredible figure. She sent fans wild last month as she stripped down to a tiny pink bikini as she enjoyed the sunshine. Matching pink heels to strut around a swimming pool on the Spanish holiday island of Majorca, she was quick to let everyone know she was having a great time. And fans couldn't quite believe what they were seeing, as one wrote in the comments: "Imagine being in your 50's and looking that good in a bikini," as another replied: "Right?" As many more posted heart and flame emojis, a third said: "Looking fabulous!!!" A fourth declared her "perfection", as a fifth commented "what a body." A sixth joked: "Look amazing, wish I could walk in those shoes!" Her celebrity pals were equally in awe. Ex-EastEnders' star Jo Joyner wrote: "You're ridiculously hot" followed by a flame emoji. "There she is," said former The Only Way Is Essex star Sam Faiers. Vicky Pattinson simply wrote: "AMANDA!!!!" with four flame emojis. While her Heart FM co-star, former Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts commented: "Jheeez."

Britain's most tattooed woman sunbathes and fans notice there's area left to ink

Becky Holt, who is thought to be 'the most tattooed woman in Britain' with around 95% of her body covered in inkings, has fans wondering why she doesn't have one place done Becky Holt is dedicated to being the 'most tattooed woman in Britain'. But while she sports plenty of ink across her body, there is one place she's neglected so far. Starting at just 15 years old, she now has tattoos from her head to her toes, but after she was spotted sunbathing on Instagram, fans have realised she lacks tatts in one area. Posing in a chic red two-piece in Beach Cabo Roig in Spain with a scarf atop her head, she captioned her post: "Beach day with my loves," and people rushed to the comments to tell her that she looked " beautiful," referring to her as a "stunning woman". ‌ Previously, Becky has opened up about getting her intimate areas tattooed, but during a Q&A on Instagram Live, she shared there's somewhere she won't bother getting tattooed. ‌ And there were some fans who noticed there was a lack of tattoos on the soles of her feet. "Next, we want foot tattoos," one penned. Speaking to her over 150,000 followers, someone asked her whether she had any plans to get the soles of her feet tattooed, as the tops of her toes are already adorned with designs. They asked: "Will you ever tattoo under your feet?" Becky responded: "No, there's no point. I can't be a**** with the pain of it for it not to last". There's a reason Becky isn't too keen on getting the soles of her feet tattooed. Not only is it a painful area to ink, but it's also not the most practical decision. This is because tattoos on the soles of the feet fade more quickly than any tattoos on any other part of the body. ‌ This is likely to be because it's trickier to penetrate the skin on areas that are harder or calloused, which feet can often be due to the amount of walking people do. Tattoos on the soles of the feet can sometimes last less than a couple of years, which makes it seem pointless, which was Becky's reasoning. The skin on the soles of the feet is subject to constant friction and pressure, as it is the point of contact with the ground whenever you walk, run, or stand. ‌ This causes skin cells to regenerate more frequently, which can lead to faster fading of tattoos. Not only that, but the constant rubbing against socks, shoes, and the ground has an exfoliating effect on the skin, which can cause the tattoo to wear off prematurely. Additionally, this area is prone to more sweating and exposure to bacteria, increasing the risk of infection if not properly cared for. It's important to follow aftercare instructions closely and try to minimise pressure on the area as much as possible during the healing period.
