'I'm a buff WWE wrestler but I've always struggled with body image'

Metro24-05-2025
WWE superstars are known for being larger than life, stepping in the ring with incredible physiques on display for millions of fans around the world.
However, it's easy to forget that these massive characters have real insecurities and hang-ups like anyone else, especially in such an aesthetically-driven industry.
Speaking exclusively to Metro from WWE 2K25's booth in Las Vegas, Raw star Ivy Nile admitted she 'never felt cool' growing up because of her body.
'It sounds like a weird problem to have. Growing up, I couldn't wear normal clothes my friends were wearing because I'm so buff,' she recalled.
'And then, you kind of think, 'boys aren't gonna like me because I'm bigger than them', which is funny.'

When it comes to stepping out in front of thousands of fans in an arena every week, the 33-year-old star admitted she has to put herself in a 'weird mentality'.
'Sometimes I just play a game with myself, it's all a simulation, it's not happening,' she laughed.
Growing up as 'a fit kind with muscles', Ivy – who recently wrestled Stephania Carter, a rising star in WWE 2K25's New Wave DLC pack – revealed she 'never felt cool', but now being in the gym and the wrestling ring has helped her grow.
'That's what I had to learn, just getting more confident. I'm kinda in my element in the gym and in my gear,' she explained.
'I can be a Hulk and show my muscles. But right now I'm in a dress suit, and I feel kind of uncomfortable, but that's okay!'
She has also taken inspiration from other athletes, name-dropping Olympic hero Simone Biles, 28, as someone to look up to.
'She's in my stature, she's shorter, she's stocky. That's how we're built. And we found beauty, we found strength through that in our sports. And I think we just embrace ourselves so much, even though we're different,' she smiled.
'Clothes fit weird, but that's okay. So it's cool how we embrace who we are, turn it into a strength, and we are both in amazing businesses.'
Ivy is also helped by her partnership with Chad Gable and the Creed Brothers, with real-life siblings Julius and Brutus providing a solid rock on screen and behind the scenes.
'I've been with them for three years, I started with them in NXT in Diamond Mine, I started with them day one,' she reflected. 'They are a pain in my butt, but I love them. They got my back, and I love growing with them.'
She hopes all three can 'get some gold this year', while Ivy also has some dream matches in mind for 2025, given the way fans have almost limitless possibilities in WWE 2K25.
'I already had one of mine with Rhea [Ripley], I would love to throw that back. I think I would grow so much, continuing to work with her,' she smiled.
'I've always wanted to work with Iyo [Sky], I haven't worked with Iyo. I have so many people on my list that I want to – Liv [Morgan]. Bianca [Belair], of course, we're from the same hometown.' More Trending
Beyond video game dream matches and championship ambitions, Ivy has her sights set on a major WrestleMania goal to truly leave her mark.
'One day I want to have a bunch of fit kids, girls with muscles,' she said. 'I never felt cool – I always had muscles and stuff. So whenever it's my time, I'm gonna have a bunch of fit kids flexing with me up on stage.'

Three ways Arsenal can line-up with Eberechi Eze in starting XI

Arsenal are basking in the glory of beating Tottenham in the race for Eberechi Eze – but Mikel Arteta must now work out where to play him. Spurs' deal for the Crystal Palace star was virtually done and dusted until Arsenal swooped in to hijack the move, reacting decisively to Kai Havertz's worrying knee injury. Arsenal have agreed a £67.5m transfer for Eze – but some football pundits have questioned who he'll replace in the Gunners' starting line-up. Nigel Winterburn has told Metro that he thinks Eze will be deployed on the left wing, which would relegate Gabriel Martinelli to Arsenal's bench. Arsenal feel the 27-year-old England international's best position is when he's used as a No.10 – an area that Martin Odegaard operates in. Metro's weekly football newsletter: In The Mixer. Exclusive analysis, FPL tips and transfer talk sent straight to your inbox every Friday – sign up, it's an open goal. Eze shone for Palace last season as one of two No.10s in a 3-4-2-1 formation – but could he replace Odegaard? Scroll on to find out… Eze has mainly been used as an attacking midfielder in the middle of the pitch – but he does have experience of playing as a left winger too. In the 2023-24 season, Eze played on the left wing 10 times, conjuring up five goals and two assists for Palace when he was used in that area. It's the position in which Arsenal arguably need the biggest upgrade – given Martinelli's inconsistency last term. Eze could be used as the left winger in Arsenal's 4-3-3 formation with Bukayo Saka on the right and Viktor Gyokeres up top. He would be free to cut inside and move into central areas – where Eze normally thrives. That's similar to how Arteta has used Leandro Trossard in the past. 'He's a player who I think is a game-changer,' Arsenal icon Winterburn told Metro about Eze. 'He's going to compete with Martinelli. All the players we're being linked with suggest they want to strengthen on the left side. 'That's where they're feeling at the moment where the competition isn't as strong as it should be. 'They can move players around, of course they can, but I would say he'll come in and play on the left side.' Arsenal have plenty of fixtures to deal with this season with the team competing in the Premier League, Champions League and domestic cups. It's unlikely that Odegaard will start every single match – and that could allow Eze to step in and play in his preferred position as a No.10 when Arteta decides to rotate his squad. Odegaard missed a number of games last term due to an ankle sprain – so if Arsenal's captain picks up any fresh injury problems in the 2025-26 campaign – that could also see Eze come in to replace him in the middle. Eze produced 14 goals and 11 assists across 39 games for Palace last season when he was used as a central attacking midfielder. Odegaard failed to register a single goal or assist in the four Champions League knockout games against Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain last term – so Eze could replace him if the Norwegian's form starts to dip too. The statistics in the table below show Odegaard's declining numbers in the Premier League across the last two seasons. It's no secret that Arsenal have sometimes struggled to break down teams who like to sit deep. Having two playmakers on the pitch – Eze and Odegaard – could fix that problem in games where Arsenal dominate possession of the ball. As mentioned above, Arsenal have a lot of fixtures to navigate in the 2025-26 campaign and Declan Rice will need a rest from time to time. Rice could be the player to drop out of Arsenal's XI to allow Eze to play alongside Odegaard and Martin Zubimendi in the Gunners' midfield. Arteta could also decide to use Rice as the defensive midfielder – instead of Zubimendi – which would allow him to play with Odegaard and Eze. It's been suggested that Eze could potentially operate as a false nine for Arsenal. More Trending That would require Gyokeres dropping to the bench, with Eze leading the attack in a central area. Given Havertz could be out injured for a lengthy period, this might make sense for Arteta to give the Gunners more options up top. Eze played up front for England in a friendly against Senegal in June and Arteta has been known to experiment with his players having used Mikel Merino as a striker last season. Iconic rock band warn they'll ‘never play many cities again' in devastating tour

An iconic rock band have announced they are 'unlikely to play many of the cities' on their upcoming tour 'ever again'. After forming in 1993 in Madison, Wisconsin, Garbage's eponymous 1995 debut album saw them take off, selling over four million copies and achieving double platinum certification in the UK, the US, and Australia. The band's line up has remained unchanged since its conception and consists of Scottish singer Shirley Manson and American musicians Duke Erikson, Steve Marker and Butch Vig. Some of the band's most notable songs have included Stupid Girl and Only Happy When It Rains. Over the past 32 years they've sold over 17 million albums worldwide and been nominated for 7 Grammy and 2 Brit Awards. However, they've now told fans that their upcoming US tour marks what will likely be their last shows ever in many cities. Sharing the news on Instagram, they wrote: 'Yesterday saw the commencement of rehearsals for our last North American headline tour . We haven't played an extensive headline tour like this one in the States for almost a decade. If the truth be told, it is unlikely we will play many of the cities on this tour ever again. 'We are going out on the road with the spectacular @starcrawler, fronted by superstar @arrowdewilde, who is one of the most exciting front people of her generation. 'We are going out in style, and we hope you will join us. That's life my friends. Nothing stays the same forever. Everything must change. All beautiful things come to an end. We love you. From all of us in garbage.' Responding to the news, fans didn't appear shocked by the band's news, but expressed their excitement at getting to see them soon. 'Not unexpected but still bittersweet. I want to thank you for this tour. It's a privilege to get to see you perform a headlining show one last time. I love you all. I can't wait to see you in DC!' Lori commented. 'I suspected this news might come. We (the fans) are so grateful for everything you've given us for over 30 years. You've literally soundtracked the majority of my life, and no matter what happens, your legacy and back catalogue will continue to do so. Without expectation, I'm still going to hope that Happy Endings reaches the UK and Europe. Have an absolute blast on this tour. You deserve to celebrate everything!' Dan wrote. 'Just hope you continue to make music. I had the privilege to see you live in 2016 in Indianapolis and it was a highlight of my life,' Sean added. Garbage will begin their Happy Endings tour on September 3 in Orlando, Florida, travelling to 35 other US and Canadian cities, before wrapping up in Mexico City, Mexico on November 14. Last year they'd been forced to cancel a string of shows after Manson required 'surgery and rehabilitation' for an undisclosed injury that she'd suffered on tour in Europe earlier in the year. Around the same time she spoke to Metro, detailing a difficult decade facing health problems, but how she felt grateful for still being able to perform. 'As I get older and older, I realise I don't know how much time I have left,' she explained. More Trending 'It's something that doesn't cross your mind when you're 18 years old. But now every show feels really precious to me. 'When I used to come and play shows, I'd be like, 'Oh, we can come back and get them next time'. Whereas now, I'm like, 'I don't know if I'll ever come back to play.' 'It adds a certain gravitas to the experience, but it also peppers the tour with magic because I feel I must enjoy it and revel in it.' Got a story? Former Strictly Come Dancing boss issues defiant defence of scandal-hit show

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video A former Strictly Come Dancing boss has defended the series amid its numerous scandals and ongoing backlash. Moira Ross, a highly experienced executive producer and show runner, has worked on a number of major reality series such as The Voice UK as well as Dancing with the Stars and The Masked Singer in the US. In 2010, she was responsible for relaunching Strictly on the BBC, reigniting the show's popularity to its highest ever viewing figures and seeing it go on to become a multi-award winner. However, speaking ahead of the release of her latest Apple TV project KPOPPED – a competition which pits music icons against K-pop idols – the producer has hit back against rumours that shows such as Strictly could be facing cancellation due to lower viewing figures. In recent years, the BBC series has been plagued by a series of controversies, including when two former professionals, Giovanni Pernice and Graziano Di Prima, were removed after behavioural accusations from former partners were revealed. Following that, Welsh opera singer Wynne Evans, 53, was sensationally dumped from the Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour over inappropriate comments. Most recently, police confirmed an investigation into Strictly after claims two of its stars used cocaine. This came after a longtime worker said they were offered drugs by a star on the show. But, asked what she made of claims that the show may not have a future, Moira vehemently argued: 'I think they're all coming from the same place. 'They're all coming from big hearted, wonderful entertainment, and we need that and we're always going to be enjoying that. 'Look how successful Glastonbury is, Strictly is still monumentally successful. 'We love to be entertained, music's a common language. I don't think we're ever going to get sick of huge, wonderful, aspirational entertainment shows. We just want more and more of them.' Moira's latest show KPOPPED sees the likes of the Spice Girls, Boy George, Kesha and Vanilla Ice reimagine their hit songs in collaboration with K-pop stars before they compete in battle performances judged by an audience in Seoul. Starring PSY and Megan Thee Stallion, the eight-episode series sees two worlds – the East and West – combine. Asked where the inspiration for the show came from, Moira said: 'The idea was to explore a brand new sort of music genre, a music show that hasn't been attempted before. 'Something aspirational and celebrational, and something that takes us away from those traditional music shows that are quite wonderful, but it's time for it's for a new a new spin on things.' Discussing her hope for viewers, she also added: 'I would like people to find absolute joy in it. 'I'd love them to want to know even more about K pop and take their next holidays in Korea. I'd love that. I'd think, 'We've done something great here.' 'But really, it's just a proper celebration of cultural crossovers. And if we can enjoy that, then we've done our job.' KPOPPED premieres exclusively on Apple TV Plus on Friday August 29. Got a story?
