Filmmaker Subhash Ghai, known for blockbusters such as Karz, Hero, Taal, Ram Lakhan, has announced his comeback film. Starring Riteish Deshmukh in the lead, not much details were unveiled about his upcoming project. However, Subhash chose a photo of Riteish dressed as a woman while making the announcement. It remains unclear whether the film is based on a similar theme or the photo was used for a generic purpose.
On Monday, June 30, Subhash Ghai announced the lead star of next film. In a playful manner, he mentioned that he has finalised the 'heroine" for his next film. In the caption, he wrote, 'She is our next heroine in our upcoming film under Mukta Arts. A classic beauty. Can you guess the name of this beautiful girl? Please do write." For the unversed, the picture of Riteish seems to be from the 2006 comedy film Apna Sapna Money Money, where the actor played a conman and cross-dressed as part of his role. Here is the post:
In the comment box, celebs and fans, alike, expressed their enthusiasm for Riteish's film witn Subhash. Mahima Chaudhry, who made her Bollywood debut with Ghai's Pardes, took a subtle reference at their film and commented, 'That's Desh mukh What about pardes mukh?" Another wrote, 'Deshmukh in heroin roll, dekhana shandar hoga". Another fan recognised Riteish's photo from Apna Sapna Money Money. The user wrote, 'Apna spna money money movie secene it was retiesh sir's superhit and one of the best comedy secene it was."
Why has Subhash Ghai stopped making a lot of films anymore?
The filmmaker's last directorial was 36 Farmhouse, which released in 2022. Speaking to Komal Nahta on his chat show Game Changers, Ghai recently addressed the most-asked-question – Why isn't he making films anymore? His response, rooted in disappointment, explained how the industry had evolved. 'It's just one thing, I don't see love among people, I don't see love in the team. I see everyone just working, poor things," the filmmaker said. He pointed out the increasing commercialisation of the industry, where creativity appears to take a backseat and only deadlines matter.
Ghai also recounted a specific incident where he was working with a writer on a project and was left disappointed. He said, 'I called a writer, told him a story, and asked him to write it. He says, 'Yes, I'll write it in 15 days, give the second draft in 3 days, then this and that.' He gave me all the dates and installments, 'Your story will be ready in the many days.'" Ghai playfully added, 'I said, 'Are you making rotis or what?' because he gave me the whole thing with dates and installments."
