The seven-time world champion failed to pick up any points and sounded like a broken man over the team radio post-race.
Hamilton said: "Really sorry about this weekend guys, for losing you points."
He also reportedly sat in his car for some time after parking it up.
It comes after the Brit's woeful qualifying session yesterday that saw him exit in Q2 while team-mate Charles Leclerc secured a shock pole.

Hamilton again sounded crestfallen over the team radio, saying: "It's me every time. I'm useless, absolutely useless.
"The team have no problem. You've seen the car's on pole so we probably need to change driver."
Told by a member of the Ferrari team that his assessment was wrong, Hamilton replied: "It clearly is. I just drove terribly. It is what it is."
Hamilton has not finished on the podium in 14 races since making his move to the Scuderia.

Ferrari boss: Lewis Hamilton is 'frustrated but not demotivated'
Despite Lewis Hamilton's recent comments referring to himself as "absolutely useless", Ferrari Team Principal Fred Vasseur defended the seven-time World Champion, saying he is "frustrated but not demotivated." On Saturday during the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend, Hamilton failed to make it past Q2 in Qualifying at the Hungaroring, where he had eight previous victories. Speaking to reporters afterwards, Hamilton was asked to reflect on his session and said, "I'm useless, absolutely useless," and suggesting Ferrari "probably need to change driver". However, Vasseur chalked Hamilton's comments up to frustration that is common among athletes when they're struggling, especially immediately after a tough performance. "Sometimes just after the race, or just after the Quali, you are very disappointed and the reaction, the first reaction is harsh but we all know that we are pushing in the same direction," Vasseur said. "I can perfectly understand the situation and you can, sometimes you are making comments on what the driver is saying to the car, but if you put the microphone on some other sportsman in football and so on, I'm not sure that it would be much better. Hamilton ultimately finished Sunday's race in 12th place, marking the first time he's finished outside the points at the Hungarian racetrack. After signing a multi-year deal reportedly worth $100 million per year, Hamilton has struggled throughout his first season with Ferrari. He has yet to reach a podium with Ferrari and stands sixth in the drivers' standings with 109 points.

‘My wife would kill me' – Kyren Wilson makes vow after ‘silly' snooker shot
Wilson opened up about being in a 'dark place' IF LOOKS COULD WIL 'My wife would kill me' – Kyren Wilson makes vow after 'silly' snooker shot KYREN WILSON will not attempt a 'silly no-look' shot in high-pressurised situations or if big money is on the line – because he says his wife 'would kill me'. The Warrior is flying home from China £210,000 richer after lifting the Shanghai Masters following a 11-9 victory in the final over Ali Carter. Unexpectedly, he decided to 'entertain' the crowd by turning his head to the side, as if it was an exhibition, as he cued up for the century break. That final black, which was on its spot, was missed and it meant there was no seventh century in that clash, which would have been a record for a match consisting of 11 frames. Wilson, 33, was unaware that had he potted the ball normally it would have gone down in the record books. However, speaking to SunSport following his first title success of the season, Wilson admits he would NOT do this again if the ball he was aiming for had more riding on it. Considering how much money could be on the line in the future, he would be in serious trouble at home if he reattempted the cheeky shot again. The Englishman became world champion in May 2024 and then played as much as he could, winning four ranking titles in the 2024-25 season. The next few weeks were extremely difficult but it was only by playing in exhibitions around the globe and the love and support of his family that pulled him through the 'dark' times. The father-of-two – next in action in the Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters in Jeddah – said: 'It really, really hurt to lose in the first round. 'I was in quite a dark place for a couple of weeks. Advertisement 'I was meant to be working for the BBC straight after that. I did one day and said to the producer, I've got to get out of here. I can't do it. I don't want to be here. 'I had some exhibitions which took my mind off it fairly quickly. We travelled all over. We went to Dubai, China, Hong Kong and then Helsinki. So, thank god for that really. 'God knows what I'd have been doing otherwise. 'I gave so much last year. It was important to kick on this year and start in the same vein.
