Jessie J gives cancer update as she reveals heartbreaking hair loss struggles
Jessie J has given a health update on her breast cancer fight, after she revealed a 'heartbreaking' development. The mum-of-one underwent a mastectomy in June and has kept fans updated throughout her cancer journey with candid updates.
The singer, 37, revealed on social media this week that she is set for further surgery and that her hair is "falling out like crazy".
The Domino hitmaker spoke to fans in an emotional video as she brushed her shoulder length locks in front of a mirror, sporting a black satin dressing gown.
Addressing her followers, who rushed to send support, Jessie said: "My hair has been falling out like crazy since the surgery. Five weeks today since my surgery and I'm feeling okay. I've still got quite a lot of cording so that's my main focus."
According to Macmillan, cording refers to a cord-like formation beneath the skin on the inner arm, which may develop following surgery to remove lymph nodes in the armpit, also known as axillary web syndrome (AWS).
The revelation comes as the star, who welcomed two-year-old son Sky in 2023, acknowledged her diagnosis has forced her to re-evaluate her priorities, as reported by the Mirror.
Explaining that she continues to feel "so sore", Jessie added: "My boobs still aren't even, it's still so sore.
"I'm just trying to figure out what the next six months will look like. I know I can't do everything that I was suppose to be doing but I just want to be able to make it work the best I can for everybody, me, Sky, my fans but in the right order.
"You are always gonna leave some people disappointed. My perspective on everything has changed so much."
The Voice UK judge recently opened up about her diagnosis, which she revealed earlier this year, and how the illness has been somewhat of a wake-up call for her to 'slow down' and take life easy.
"Maybe this has happened to go: slow your roll, girl, let's have a little reassessment," she shared with The Sunday Times last weekend.
Jessie first disclosed back in April that she was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer after she detected a lump on her breast, which turned out to be a 5cm tumour, as she underwent a mastectomy for its removal.
However despite the success of the surgery and removal of the cancer, Jessie has made it clear her health battles aren't over yet. "People think, once you've got the all-clear, now it's done," she clarified.
"But I've got another surgery [to improve the symmetry of her implant with her other breast] and I need to heal, so I have to figure out the rest of this year."

"Terence leaves behind an extraordinary body of work, both as an actor and as a writer that will continue to touch and inspire people for years to come. We ask for privacy at this sad time." His cause of death has not been reported. Stamp was known for his good looks and dress sense alongside his acting as he was dubbed one of Britain's most glamorous couples with Julie Christie. It has been under the spotlight as of late, after being wrapped up in a number of controversies with the future of it's airing at one point in doubt. "It's a significant new development in the BBC 's recent string of crises that they have now got the police involved in investigating allegations surrounding Strictly," an insider revealed. The TV insider continued: "This is a very dramatic turn of events. Despite all the show and its team have been through over recent months, it's hugely controversial that you've now got Scotland Yard detectives probing Strictly." "This is their biggest prime-time family entertainment show, so it's not a good look for the BBC," they told The Sun. Strictly has made headlines following allegations of bullying and inappropriate behaviour. It is believed to be the first time the BBC has contacted the police over allegations connected to the show. When approached by the Mirror, the BBC declined to comment on any police investigation. Andrew Lownie, who appeared in the documentary, branded the duo "greedy" and revealed that despite attempting to locate someone willing to speak positively about Andrew, 99% refused to do so.
