Edinburgh Castle will be illuminated in a projection show by Universal Orlando as part of a celebration of the launch of an upcoming theme park.
In honour of the grand opening of Universal Epic Universe on May 22, Universal Orlando Resort will light up the landmark with a "world-class projection display" showcasing the five immersive 'worlds' of the new Florida theme park, reports the Daily Record.
The event will take place on May 2 at 9pm and is a "historic first" that will turn Edinburgh Castle into a canvas for a Universal Epic Universe-themed projection mapping and lighting experience. Innovative techniques will complement the aesthetics of the five worlds that can be found within the theme park.
Using innovative techniques, Universal Studios will highlight Celestial Park, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Ministry of Magic, Super Nintendo World, How to Train Your Dragon - Isle of Berk, and Dark Universe.
Celestial Park is set to be the hub of Universal Epic Universe and will feature a garden, fountains, and ponds with an astrology theme. Meanwhile, Dark Universe will be a monster-themed area that will include attractions based around Frankenstein, Dracula, and more.

The other worlds will spotlight some of the most popular franchises in the world. The Ministry of Magic will take Harry Potter fans back in time to 1920s Paris, while Super Nintendo World will feature iconic characters such as Mario, Bowser, and Donkey Kong.
According to event organisers, the Edinburgh Castle illumination will "dynamically transform from one world to another". The transitions will also "captivate the audience in this historic spectacle, allowing the fans to contribute to the launch of Epic Universe in an unforgettable, shareable experience".
Guests attending the Edinburgh projection show will have a chance to win a seven-night trip to Universal Orlando Resort, including tickets to the Universal Studios Florida, Universal Islands of Adventure, Universal Volcano Bay, and new Epic Universe theme parks. The winners will stay at the recently opened Universal Terra Luna Resort.
Meanwhile, British Airways Holidays, the official UK holiday launch partner of Epic Universe, will provide the flights for the prize winner in the Club World cabin.

"Transporting fans into the worlds of Epic Universe sits at the heart of this projection and we can't wait to for the people of Scotland and beyond to experience the thrills of this brand-new theme park."
The Universal Epic Universe projection is a free ticketed private event. However, there is "very limited capacity".
Global content marketing agency TPF will deliver the Edinburgh leg of the project. As part of the campaign, Universal Orlando Resort will also project onto Battersea Power Station in London on May 1.

Every movie & show to be released after filming in Scotland
Over the last year or so, Scotland has become a hotbed of Hollywood activity – with huge films such as Frankenstein all expected out over the next year or so. In June, J.J. Abrams is shooting his secretive blockbuster under the name Ghostwriter in both Edinburgh and Glasgow, while crews spotted around Moray are said to be setting up for production of Christopher Nolan's 2026 movie The Odyssey. Meanwhile, reports suggest that Marvel will once again return to Scotland in August to film the fourth instalment of Tom Holland's Spider-Man film, with further productions expected around the country including Henry Cavill's Highlander reboot. That's without mentioning the slew of TV shows which have been filmed in Scotland recently. Season two of Apple TV+'s The Buccaneers returned to Scotland once again to shoot throughout the country, while Netflix's Edinburgh-set Dept. Q shot on location around the capital. Here are all of the movies and TV shows filmed in Scotland during 2024 and 2025, which are still to be released (and some to be shot). 1 . Untitled J.J. Filming began in Edinburgh in early June with production expected to continue in Glasgow. | Lisa Ferguson Photo Sales 2 . The Odyssey Having been closed to the public since May, Findlater Castle in Moray is set to appear in Christopher Nolan's upcoming adaptation of Greek epic, The Odyssey. Frankenstein Filming for Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein took place across Scotland last year, with locations including Edinburgh and Aberdeenshire. Set for release in November 2025, the adaptation stars Oscar Isaac as Victor Frankenstein and Jacob Elordi as the Monster. | Ken Woroner / Netflix Photo Sales 4 . Spider-Man: Brand New Day (AKA Blue Oasis) Having previously spent time filming in Scotland, Marvel look set to return to the country to film the fourth instalment of Tom Holland's Spider-Man movies in August. Notices for the production of Blue Oasis - the reported working name for Spider-Man: Brand New Day - have started to appear in Glasgow with filming expected to take place around the city centre, which will presumably fill in for New York City. The new film is expected to be released in 2026. | Getty Images Photo Sales

Office worker finds genius use for standing desk as people left in stitches
One office worker took to the social media site to show people his unique use for his electric standing desk, and it's certainly captured people's attention, racking up more than 1.6million likes There used to be a time where office desks were very standard, with 9-5 workers usually sat down for most of their day. However, the introduction of standing desks mean many workers can stretch their legs a little bit more. Standing desks also have been found to help improve their posture, reduce back and neck pain and burn a few more calories. However, one man found an even better way to use his electric standing desk that his company provided for him – and it's left people in stitches. The office worker, known as @king_bashel on TikTok, took to the social media site to show people his unique use for his desk, and it's certainly captured people's attention, racking up more than 1.6million likes. The viral video sees Beyonce fan Bashel miming the words to one of Beyonce's performances. As he does this, he sits on his electric standing desk which dramatically lifts him up while he's in the office. Overlay text at the start of the clip read: "POV: You finally found a reason to use your standing desk." People have been left in stitches over the clip, which has racked up more than 9,000 comments. One person exclaimed: "NOBODY has ever used a standing desk more appropriately than you just did." While another joked: "Standing desk sales bout to go crazy." A third joked: "My standing desk just told me to don't even try it." While another chimed in: "I can't wait to get back to work." Other people also feared for Bashel's job after the video, as one person wrote: "HR gonna have a hell of a time tryna keep a straight face while playing the video at the termination meeting." While another added: "The CEO watching this." However, his job can't have been that mad as Bashel has re-created the stunt several times now for different versions of the video. One of these sees his dressed as Elphaba from Wicked as he performs Defying Gravity, while another Beyonce-themed clip sees Bashel perform in a Cowboy get-up as he writes: "POV: You WERKING this standing desk."
