Elyria Police were called to an apartment on Monday night for a welfare check. While there, they found Donte Jamar Parker II hiding inside the apartment, police shared in a release on social media.
Parker was taken into custody for outstanding felony warrants but ran off from police while being escorted from his apartment.

On Tuesday, police obtained surveillance video showing Parker toward a wooded area near the Black River. This led to a second, thorough search along the riverbank.
Teams even rappelled down the hillside for closer inspection of the river and riverbank, but search efforts were suspended temporarily due to safety reasons.
The search continued on Wednesday. While the ice coverage of the river was deemed too hazardous for rescue boats, emergency personnel continued to search the waterline and surrounding riverbanks on foot and with drones.
At this time, Parker has still not been located.
On Thursday, Captain Lantz released the below statement to WOIO, a CBS affiliate in Cleveland:
'The Elyria Police Department remains committed to locating Donte Parker and will continue to pursue all investigative leads. We appreciate your continued interest, and if any significant developments occur, we will be sure to share that information.'
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact Detective Larson at (440) 326-1211. Anonymous tips can be submitted at www.cityofelyria.org/tips.

Colorado personal trainer convicted of sexual assault of a child

A personal trainer in Colorado was convicted by a jury last week of multiple charges related to sexual assault of minors who were athletes at his Parker gym. In 2022, Parker police arrested personal trainer Aaron Carrado for sexually assaulting one of the kids he was training. At the time, they were looking for other possible victims. On Thursday, a jury found him guilty of 12 charges, including six counts of "sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust as a pattern of abuse." Danielle Jaramillo, chief deputy district attorney of the family violence unit in Colorado's 23rd Judicial District, says it was the courage of Carrado's victims that put him behind bars. "I was super relieved for these victims," Jaramillo said. "I felt like- they felt that their voices were really heard, so I was really, really relieved for them and for the community." Jaramillo says when she went to trial in the case against Carrado, getting a conviction was important to her. "The concern was that he would get right back out in the public, feel emboldened with what he did, felt like no one cared enough to convict him of that," she said. "I think (acquittals) really emboldened sex offenders to believe that what they did wasn't wrong, and that it's okay to continue to do things like that." In 2022, Carrado was charged with four counts of sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust, four counts of unlawful sexual contact, and two counts of sexual exploitation of a child. Police alleged that he assaulted teen athletes he was supposed to be training at his gym, "Strength in Christ," among other locations. His now ex-wife says she found a phone with explicit messages between him and his young clients. She's the one who turned him in to law enforcement. Carrado then fled to Montana. Jarmillo says the evidence Carrado's ex-wife provided helped bolster the case against him. "We had DNA testing done, we had a lot of forensic analysis done on different phones that we received, both from the defendant as well as from the victim," she said. But Jaramillo says she thinks it was the courage of his victims, who are now adults, that swayed the jury and led to Carrado's conviction: "They just did an incredible job on the witness stand." Carrado is now facing 8 years to life in prison. He's 51 now, and Jaramillo says she would want a sentence that keeps him in jail for the rest of his life. Ultimately, however, his fate lies in the hands of a judge. Carrado will be sentenced on Nov. 13.

ELYRIA, Ohio (WJW) – The body of a missing teenager who fell into the Black River on Thursday was recovered Saturday afternoon. Elyria Police Captain Gerald Lantz confirmed to Fox 8 News that the body of 16-year-old Vincent Pabon has been found. I-TEAM: East Cleveland body camera shows moments officers were shot During continued search efforts on Saturday, Pabon's body was located and recovered around 3 p.m., a press release from the police department said. 'Our hearts are with Vincent's family during this unimaginably difficult time,' said Capt. Bill Lantz of the Elyria Police Department. 'We extend our deepest condolences and will continue to support them as the investigation continues.' On Thursday, a witness reported that Pabon had fallen into the river early that morning and never resurfaced, police said. Pabon was last seen near East Falls Riverwalk on the Black River, accompanied by a 24-year-old man, according to a Thursday news release from police. The pair had spent the night in the area, drinking and talking, police said. Police were told that Pabon fell into the water at some point. The man made it out of the water, but said he could no longer hear or see Pabon. Pabon was reported missing to police just before 8 a.m., according to the report. Elyria firefighters and a Lorain County dive team on Thursday, Aug. 7, searched for hours near the falls behind the city police department, according to a previous news release. After investigating the circumstances surrounding Pabon's disappearance, police charged Pabon's companion, identified by police as 24-year-old Jacob Rosado, with a felony count of tampering with evidence. Rosado was also charged with a misdemeanor count of contributing to the unruliness of a minor, for allegedly supplying the teen with alcohol. Authorities said they may consider additional charges as the investigation continues. Rosado had his first court appearance Friday morning in Elyria Municipal Court, where he was handed a $100,000 bond. He's due back in court on Thursday, Aug. 14. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
