Selena Gomez Wears a Villa-Inspired Cult Gaia Dress to Meet the 'Love Island' Season 7 Cast
On August 7, my two worlds collided: Selena Gomez met the cast of Love Island Season 7. Mere hours after Rare Beauty's new perfume hit stores, the founder invited my favorite islanders to a luxe launch party in Santa Monica. The dress code? Coupling ceremony-chic.
While chatting with Olandria Carthen and Chelley Bissainthe, Gomez shined in a $2,298 mother-of-pearl gown from Cult Gaia, an islander-beloved brand based in L.A. The shimmery number had all the makings of a villa-ready look, including a halter neck and a plunging open back. The layered fringe cascaded from top to bottom, twinkling as the host made her rounds.
Gomez paired the LWD with matching double-strap sandals, also from Cult Gaia, which came fitted with a chromatic, bamboo-inspired heel. Silver hoop earrings complemented the "Same Old Love" singer's $498 shoes.

Carthen and Bissainthe, meanwhile, didn't go full-on villa-core with their looks. Instead, they embraced elegant red carpet attire. Carthen channeled Gomez, the queen of little black dresses, in a mock-neck LBD. Apart from a few bikinis, she rarely wore black on Season 7.
By her side, Bissainthe turned heads in a red shoulder-padded gown. The naked shoe trend upped the drama. Given her affinity for neutrals at the villa, this gown marked a major style shift for Bissainthe. In fact, Gomez's look felt more up her alley. If you watch Love Island religiously, you'll remember she left the villa during Epsiode 34 in a similar halterneck number.
At this point, Cult Gaia practically has a recurring role on the dating show. During Season 5, Ariana Madix wore a shortened version of Gomez's dress. It featured the same delicate drapery, but in a vivid turquoise.

'When it gets in your face, you're going to move.' Ultimately, the shoot was just another day in the life of a stunt performer. 'It was pretty easy to do, not too life threatening, and paid well,' Rondell concluded. He spent several years working as a stuntman and also as a stunt coordinator and a director before starting his own company, Stunts Unlimited, in 1970. 'Our hearts are heavy with the loss of the last of Stunts Unlimited's 3 esteemed founding fathers, Ronnie Rondell,' the company wrote in a message shared on Facebook. 'In a class all his own, Ronnie was a generous mentor whose talents set the bar for every aspiring stunt person. He was deeply respected, admired and loved. Ronnie was not just a legend, he was legendary and will be deeply missed.' Sophie Turner 'was going through hell' amid Trust shoot
Sophie Turner found filming Trust to be "super cathartic". The 29-year-old actress was in the midst of her divorce from pop star Joe Jonas during the film's shoot, and Sophie actually enjoyed being able to throw herself into the project. Sophie - whose character suffers a betrayal in Trust - said on Late Night with Seth Meyers: "I'm not sure if anyone's aware, but when I started shooting this movie, I was going through, like, a media hell. "So this was super cathartic because I wanted to run away in my real life when that was all happening. But I got to do it in a movie and I got to smash some s*** up, so that was fun." Sophie previously described her separation from Joe as "incredibly sad". The actress was married to the pop star between 2019 and 2024, and she admitted that their break-up was very difficult. She told Harper's Bazaar magazine: "We had a beautiful relationship, and it was hard." Alison Brie and Dave Franco are busy promoting their body-horror movie, Together, which required quite a few intimate scenes. That's why, as a married couple, they have a hot take on a controversial Hollywood topic. Intimacy coordinators are described as 'advocates… between actors and production, and a movement coach and/or choreographer in regards to nudity and simulated sex and other intimate and hyper-exposed scenes' by the actors' union, SAG-AFTRA. It's a newer behind-the-scenes role that emerged out of the 2017 #MeToo movement and has become an integral part of TV and movie crews. That's why Brie and Franco's perspective is a fascinating one. 'As a couple, we didn't need an intimacy coordinator,' Franco explained to The Times. 'We've been together almost 15 years; we know what we're doing and we're pretty comfortable with it.' Even with her husband by her side, Brie admitted that it wasn't always easy. 'In our new film, Together, we play a couple whose reliance on each other leads to some quite horrific outcomes, and I'll admit there are some parallels between what's on and off screen,' she added. 'Not the horrific outcomes, but we play a couple who have a solid history together. The film also involves lots of intimate scenes, which was kind of weird. Doing what we had to do in front of a hundred people was a new experience.' Franco even directed her through a sex scene with actor Dan Stevens in the 2020 film, The Rental. Brie revealed there was no 'jealousy' on Franco's part because they 'understand the separation of real emotion and something you're doing at work.' While it sounds like Brie and Franco are open to the idea of an intimacy coordinator if they aren't working together, so A-listers are very opposed to the situation, including Michael Douglas, who seems to prefer the old-school way of making movies. 'I'm sure there were people that overstepped their boundaries, but before, we seemed to take care of that ourselves. They would get a reputation and that would take care of them,' Douglas told The Telegraph in April 2024. The Oscar winner has had quite a few intimate scenes over the years, from Basic Instinct to Fatal Attraction, but he still stands firm on his opinion. 'But I talked to the ladies, [because] I did a few of those sex movies – sexual movies – and we joke about it now, what it would have been like to have an intimacy coordinator working with us…,' he trailed off. Actor Sean Bean also complained about intimacy coordinators in 2022, claiming they 'spoil the spontaneity' and 'inhibit [him] more because it's drawing attention to things,' per The Times Magazine. But performers need to remember that the intimacy coordinator is there to protect all parties involved in the scene — from the actors to the crew. The role will continue to be a hot topic of debate in Hollywood, but hopefully, as time goes on, it will have a greater level of understanding.
