"No one asked Hezbollah to hand weapons to Israeli enemy , but rather to Lebanese Army", says Salam

Roya News8 hours ago
Nawaf Salam, Lebanon's Prime Minister, strongly rejected claims that there have been calls to hand over Hezbollah's weapons to the Israeli Occupation, describing such allegations as false and misleading.
Responding to statements by Hezbollah chief Naim Qassem, who on Friday accused Lebanon's government of 'handing' the country to 'Israel' by pushing for the group's disarmament and warned it would fight to keep its weapons, Salam said Qassem's remarks carried 'a veiled threat of civil war.' He stressed, 'No one in Lebanon today wants civil war, and any threat or hint of it is completely unacceptable.'
Salam dismissed accusations that the government is carrying out a US-'Israeli' project as 'baseless,' affirming that 'no party in Lebanon is entitled to carry arms outside the framework of the state.'
He added, 'No one asked for Hezbollah to hand its weapons to the Israeli enemy as is being promoted, but rather to the Lebanese Army, whose patriotism we refuse to question.'

'Israeli' army allegedly seals 7 km Hamas tunnel in northern Gaza

The 'Israeli' army said Friday its forces had allegedly sealed a 7-kilometer underground tunnel used by Hamas in northern Gaza. In a statement posted on its website, the army said the operation in the Beit Hanoun area involved pumping more than 20,000 cubic meters of insulating materials through the tunnel's path. Hamas, which has controlled Gaza since 2006, is reported to have built an extensive underground network across the coastal enclave, which is just 45 kilometers long and between 6 and 14 kilometers wide. The total length of the tunnels was believed to be at least 500 kilometers before the outbreak of the current war.

'Israeli' airstrikes hit southern Lebanon's Nabatieh region

Lebanon's National News Agency reported on Friday that a series of 'Israeli' airstrikes targeted the Nabatieh region in southern Lebanon. According to the agency, 'Israeli' warplanes conducted heavy aerial raids on the Ali Al-Taher forests located at the northern edges of Kfartbniyit and Upper Nabatieh. The attacks involved multiple air-to-ground missiles, producing loud explosions that echoed across several southern areas and generated thick clouds of smoke. An 'Israeli' army spokesperson claimed in a statement that the airstrikes targeted both above-ground and underground military infrastructure at a Hezbollah site, allegedly where military activity had been observed in the Talat Al-Shaqif area in southern Lebanon.

'Israeli' host Sharon Gal hawks same ‘Greater Israel' pendants gifted to Netanyahu

'Israeli' media host Sharon Gal is now selling pendants featuring the 'Greater Israel' map he previously gifted to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The gift was presented during a recent interview with 'Israeli' broadcaster i24NEWS, in which Netanyahu described himself as being on a "historic and spiritual mission" for the Jewish people and expressed a strong connection to the "vision of Greater Israel." The interview, conducted on Tuesday, occurred as his government was preparing to expand military operations into the remaining parts of Gaza. When asked if he felt a connection to the vision, Netanyahu replied, "Very much," and described his mission as spanning generations. The concept of "Greater Israel" (Eretz Yisrael HaShlema) refers to the historic or desired borders of 'Israel'. While biblical definitions vary, the term is now commonly used by 'Israelis' to include the territory of the current state of 'Israel' along with the West Bank and Gaza Strip. This ideology has been a foundational tenet of Netanyahu's Likud party, which traces its roots to Revisionist Zionism and its founder, Ze'ev Jabotinsky. Netanyahu has consistently opposed the creation of a Palestinian state, a stance he has reiterated publicly. Critics argue that the government's settlement expansion policy is the physical embodiment of the "Greater Israel" vision, creating 'facts on the ground' that make a viable Palestinian state impossible. Some view the ongoing war in Gaza as an accelerated attempt to implement this vision, asserting that the government's goal is 'maximum land, and minimum Arabs.'
