Jaya Bachchan's viral push at a selfie-seeking fan has split the internet, with Ashoke Pandit and Kangana Ranaut openly criticising her reaction.
A clip of veteran actress and Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan shoving away a man who came close for a selfie in Delhi has exploded across social media, triggering a storm of reactions from both fans and celebrities.
Ashoke Pandit Slams Jaya Bachchan's Behaviour
Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit didn't hold back after watching the footage, posting on Instagram that the move was 'highly condemnable" and showed 'humiliation towards people who have elected her to serve them." He added, 'A public servant can't afford to be sulking and irritated 24 x 7. One expects humility & compassion from an artist of her calibre who has been loved by her fans that are responsible to provide her this stature and position."
What Did Jaya Bachchan Do?
Actress-turned-politician Jaya Bachchan lost her cool on Tuesday when a man tried to take a selfie with her at the Constitution Club in New Delhi. A video of the incident has surfaced on social media and left everyone shocked. In the clip, the Samajwadi Party MP was seen pushing a man trying to take a selfie with her. She also said, 'Kya kar rahe hai aap (What are you doing?) What is this?"
Bachchan's fellow parliamentarian and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi was also seen standing near the Samajwadi MP. As soon as Bachchan shoved the man, Chaturvedi turned to look around and then went ahead to walk towards the Club. Watch the video here:
Kangana Ranaut On Jaya Bachchan
Actress-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut also waded in, calling Bachchan 'most spoilt and privileged" in her Instagram story. She wrote, 'Most spoilt and privileged woman. People put up with her tantrums / non sense just because she is @amitabhbachchan ji's wife. That samajwadi topi looks like a rooster comb, while she looks like a fighting cock!! Shame. Such disgrace and shame (sic)."
Mixed Public Opinion
In the viral clip, shot outside Delhi's Constitution Club on August 12, Bachchan looks visibly annoyed, asking the man, 'Kya kar rahe hai aap? What is this?" He quickly apologises.
While some social media users say she overreacted, others insist she has the right to protect her personal space.
Her Stance on Paparazzi
Bachchan has openly voiced her dislike for paparazzi culture and has had tense exchanges with photographers in the past, preferring to be clicked only at official or film-related events.
Jaya Bachchan Movies
The actress was last seen in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (2023) and is set to appear in Dil Ka Darwaaza Khol Na Darling alongside Siddhant Chaturvedi and Wamiqa Gabbi.

AAP leader Raghav Chadha shares video on day in the life of a Member of Parliament: ‘Day starts at 6 and ends at…'

Raghav Chadha, Aam Aadmi Party leader and Rajya Sabha MP, recently gave his followers a peek into what a normal working day looks like for him when Parliament is in session. In an Instagram reel titled 'A Day in the Life of a Member of Parliament,' he walked viewers through his schedule, which, he said, kicks off as early as 6 am. 'As a member of parliament, when the Parliament is in session, the day is full of action and activity,' he says as the video begins. The video shows him starting the morning with a steaming cup of tea and a deep dive into the day's news. Chadha says he reads seven to eight newspapers daily, from English publications like Hindustan Times, The Times of India, The Indian Express, and The Hindu to Hindi dailies including Amar Ujala, Dainik Jagran, Punjab Kesari and Hindustan. Parliament proceedings, he explained, start at 11 am with Zero Hour, where MPs get 'three uninterrupted minutes to speak' if their topic is chosen. That's followed by Question Hour from 12 to 1 pm, when ministers respond to selected questions from members. A lunch break runs from 1 to 2 pm. Post-lunch, Chadha says, 'the legislative business of the government begins,' which means bills are tabled and subjected to 'detailed discussion, dialogue and debate.' The final hour of the day is dedicated to Special Mentions, issues of urgent public importance that MPs submit in writing to be read out in the House. In the caption, he wrote: 'Our day begins before the Parliament does. A cup of chai, a stack of newspapers, and preparation for the debates ahead.' A post shared by Raghav Chadha (@raghavchadha88) The reel, which has crossed four million views, has drawn praise for its rare, behind-the-scenes look. One viewer commented, 'Always wanted to know this… thanks for such informative video.' Another wrote, 'We need our MPs to share useful knowledge like this to everyone! Very nice. Thanks!' Someone else remarked more critically, 'I guess… more than half of the MPs probably don't even know what their job is or what the purpose of attending a session is.'
