Five children missing as boat sinks in Miami
Paramedics were seen performing chest compressions on at least one victim while several divers were spotted in the water off Hibiscus Island in Miami Beach. In an update to X around 12.30pm, the Miami Beach Police Department said all victims had been found and accounted for - but the majority of the children were injured.
A total of three children were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital Trauma Center in critical condition and another was transported there in stable condition, police said. An adult female and another child were also on the boat, but they were not taken to the hospital. Six people - five children and one adult - were onboard.
The children are between the ages of eight and 12, according to authorities. The sailboat was part of the Miami Youth Sailing Foundation, according to the Miami Yacht Club. 'Our priority is the safety and well-being of everyone involved, and we are working closely with the appropriate authorities and organizations to understand the situation fully,' the organization said.
Ashlee Sklute with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission told Daily Mail that 'preliminary information indicates that a barge struck' the vessel, causing it to sink.
The Miami Beach Police Department said they were 'managing a multi-agency critical incident' involving several emergency crews.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) has since taken the lead on the investigation, the Miami Police Department said in an update around 12.50pm. Daily Mail contacted the Miami Beach Police Department, the City of Miami Beach and FWC for more information.

Third child dies nearly a week after a boat collision near Miami, Coast Guard says
The U.S. Coast Guard says a third child has died nearly a week after a barge struck and sank a boat during a sailing camp near Miami. All six people on the sailboat were pulled from the water after the collision, and four kids were rushed to a hospital where two were pronounced dead last Monday. A 10-year-old girl who was in critical condition died on Sunday, according to a Coast Guard statement. 'Our hearts continue to mourn with all those impacted by Monday's tragic incident, especially with the passing of another one of Miami's children today,' Coast Guard Capt. Frank Florio said. Officials didn't immediately identify any of the victims or release a cause for the crash. Salvage operations began Tuesday. 'The Coast Guard remains committed to conducting a thorough investigation to ensure all facts are uncovered," Florio said. The collision between a barge and the sailboat occurred in Biscayne Bay, between Miami and Miami Beach. Everyone on the sailboat, a teenage sailing camp counselor and five children, ended up in the water. They were in their last week of a camp for children aged 7 to 15, according to the Miami Yacht Club. A 7-year-old girl and a 13-year-old girl were pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. An 8-year-old girl was in critical condition as of Tuesday. A 19-year-old woman and a 12-year-old girl were rescued but not hospitalized. Across the U.S. last year, there were over 550 deaths in recreational boating, but only a sliver of those — 43 — were caused by vessels crashing into each other, according to Coast Guard statistics.

Bodies of all five trapped miners found after shaft collapse in Chile
The bodies of all five miners trapped for three days in a collapsed shaft in the world's biggest underground copper mine have been found and identified, an official said. Aquiles Cubillos, the lead prosecutor in Chile's O'Higgins region, said the body of Moises Pavez, the last miner to remain missing, was found at 3.30pm local time by rescue teams. They had drilled through dozens of yards of rock to reach the stranded workers. Advertisement 'We deeply regret this outcome,' the prosecutor said. The five miners were trapped deep inside Chile's El Teniente mine on Thursday after a section of the mine collapsed following a 4.2 magnitude earthquake that instantly killed another miner and injured nine other workers. Aerial view of El Teniente copper mine (Esteban Felix/AP) The trapped miners were located by using GPS devices but rescue teams were not able to communicate with them. Authorities are investigating whether it was a naturally occurring earthquake or whether mining activity at El Teniente caused the tremor. Advertisement Chilean prosecutors also launched a criminal investigation to determine whether any safety standards were violated. El Teniente, in the Andes mountains in central Chile, is the world's largest underground copper mine and is owned by Chilean state company Codelco. Shortly after Thursday's collapse, Codelco halted operations in the affected section of the mine and evacuated 3,000 people from the broader site to safe areas. The company cancelled a presentation of its first-half financial results, set for Friday morning, due to the rescue efforts. Advertisement Chile, the world's biggest copper producer, is in the seismically active Ring of Fire that surrounds the shores of the Pacific Ocean. In 2010, Chile's government rescued 33 miners trapped in a copper mine in the country's north for two months in a dramatic operation that made global headlines and was later depicted in a Hollywood movie.
