Two of the world's biggest teams meet in the FIFA Club World Cup quarterfinals, when Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich face on Saturday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
PSG, the reigning UEFA Champions League winner, dismantled Lionel Messi and Inter Miami in the round of 16 with four goals in the first half of a 4-0 victory, while Bayern took down Brazilian side Flamengo 4-2 to set up the showdown with a familiar European foe.
Bayern defeated PSG 1-0 in the league stage of last season's Champions League before the French side got its act together and marching to its first-ever European title.
"We have to try to take the energy and the good feeling into this match," Bayern forward Harry Kane told the team website. "We know it's going to be difficult but we feel like we can beat anyone when we're at our top level."

Diogo Jota: Ruben Neves and Joao Cancelo in tears during Club World Cup moment's silence

Al-Hilal midfielder Ruben Neves broke down in tears during an emotional silence held for Diogo Jota, who tragically died on Thursday. Neves was named in the starting line-up for Al-Hilal's clash against Fluminense at the FIFA Club World Cup, in the opening quarter-final match. Joao Cancelo also started, but both players were visibly emotional as they attempted to focus on soccer while dealing with grief. Advertisement Jota and his brother, Andre Silva, died on Thursday in a car accident after the Lamborghini they were driving suffered a burst tire and swerved off the road. Jota was traveling back to the UK and was due to report to preseason training next week, ahead of his sixth season as a Liverpool player. The forward was an extremely popular athlete, who was adored by his Liverpool and Portugal teammates. Al-Hilal head coach Simone Inzhagi explained on Thursday that the news was extremely difficult to take for Neves and Cancelo. "We all know it's a very sad day because of what happened to Diogo and André," Inzaghi said. "These things should never happen. We're all aware of the tragedy. Jota was one of Neves' closest friends in soccer, and he wrote an emotional tribute on Thursday. "Wherever you are, I know you'll read this," Neves wrote on Instagram. When I go to the national team, you'll continue to be by my side at the dinner table, on the bus, on the plane... you'll always be there with me, as usual. Advertisement "We'll continue to laugh, make plans, share our lives with each other. I'll make sure you're always there and I'll make sure your family never lacks anything while you're there, far away but thinking about us, waiting for us. "Life brought us together and now it can't separate us. We've achieved beautiful things together, we still have a lot to achieve, I know we'll make it. "Starting today, you'll enter the field with me, and we'll follow our path together, on the stage where we met. Diogoal, you are my favorite lemonade!!"

The FIFA Club World Cup quarterfinals wrap up on Saturday afternoon with a must-see rematch of the 2024 Champions League Final between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund. Los Blancos won last year's UCL Final 2-0. They're heavily favored to once again take down Dortmund on Saturday afternoon at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. In fact, recently hired Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso and Co. are listed by most sportsbooks at -320 (implied probability: 76.2 percent) or shorter to advance. 🔔 ANNOUNCEMENT: NEWSWEEK SPORTS BETTING 📩 LAUNCHING JULY 11: Starting July 11, Newsweek Sports Betting Editor Tyler Everett will deliver his weekly takes on what to bet on during the upcoming weekend -- and why -- ➡️ to your inbox every Friday. RM has outscored its last three CWC opponents by a combined score of 7-1, including a 3-0 shutout of RB Salzburg to close group play and a 1-0 win over Juventus in the round of 16. Dortmund has not been dominant (it reached the quarters by earning a draw and three one-goal victories), but it's nevertheless been a strong showing to date by Niko Kovac's squad. Read more Announcement: Newsweek Sports Betting Newsletter launching July 11 Real Madrid vs. Borussia Dortmund Betting News, Analysis Oddsmakers are giving Real Madrid a ton of respect in this matchup, but are they overlooking Borussia Dortmund? While Los Blancos have a talent advantage, BVB has more than enough firepower to at least keep this game close, even against an RM side coming off a 1-0 win over Juve that was not nearly as close as the final score indicated. Madrid had a 57-43 advantage in possession and recorded 11 shots on goal while allowing just two by Juventus. Per analytics site FOTMOB, Real Madrid won the xG battle in that game 1.57 to 0.77, and it created 5 big chances while only surrendering 1. Dortmund was impressive in the Round of 16 vs. Liga MX side Monterrey, making the most of its chances despite losing the possession battle 58-42. BVB jumped out to a 2-0 lead after 24 minutes thanks to a quick brace by Serhou Guirassy, then held on to win 2-1 and advance. Remarkably, Dortmund held Monterrey to just 0.85 xG on seven shots on target. In today's matchup, Dortmund will need to once again make the most of the chances it gets against Real Madrid, which will likely control possession. A key question for BVB will be how it fares without rising star Jobe Bellingham, who will miss this match due to suspension (yellow cards). Real Madrid vs. Borussia Dortmund Best Bets Hot lukewarm at best take: I think Real Madrid will find a way to advance, but I don't think they'll cruise. In a tough matchup to predict -- I think Dortmund is more than good enough to make this interesting -- there aren't any slam-dunk bets that stand out to me, but the halftime draw is enticing, especially at longer than +150 odds. For a safer play, consider parlaying Real Madrid to win and Over 1.5 Goals (in 90 minutes) at -135. Brazil striker Igor Jesus joins Nottingham Forest after starring at Club World Cup

NOTTINGHAM, England (AP) — Brazil striker Igor Jesus, one of the stars of the ongoing Club World Cup, signed for Nottingham Forest from Botafogo on Saturday. The 24-year-old center forward scored twice for Botafogo at the tournament taking place in the United States, including the decider against Champions League winner Paris Saint-Germain. Igor Jesus joined Botafogo from UAE team Shabab Al Ahli in July 2024 and and his impressive domestic form earned him a first call-up by Brazil for World Cup qualifiers in October and November. He scored on his debut, against Chile. 'I'm really happy to be a part of this new story, especially at a club like Nottingham Forest," Igor Jesus said. 'I didn't have to think twice about the offer, I embraced it. I embraced the project that they sent me. I am delighted to be coming here and hope to do some great work." Forest finished in seventh place in the Premier League last season after being in the Champions League places for much of the campaign. ___
