The first 2,000 school-aged children in attendance will get to choose a free backpack to fill with essential school supplies, including notebooks, markers, colored pencils, pencils, pencil sharpeners, rulers, and folders (while supplies last). In addition to the backpacks and supplies, families will enjoy games, giveaways, special appearances, and access to a wide range of local organizations offering educational tools and community resources.
The event is designed not only to ease the financial burden of the back-to-school season but also to bring the Tulsa community together. Local nonprofits, businesses, and service providers will be on-site hosting interactive activities and sharing information on free programs and support services available to families year-round. The goal is to create a space where parents and students can discover the many resources our community offers and begin the school year equipped, informed, and encouraged.
Festival highlights include:
'At its heart, this festival is about giving Tulsa kids the tools and confidence they need to succeed in the classroom.' said Chad McLain, partner at Graves McLain Injury Lawyers. 'If we can help lift even a small burden for families during the back-to-school season and connect them with incredible resources
available in Tulsa - that's a win. We're grateful for all our partners who are helping make this event possible.'
'This event is a great example of what can happen when local organizations come together with a shared purpose,' said Justin Gorski, Assistant General Manager and VP of Marketing for the Tulsa Drillers. 'Graves McLain, the Official Personal Injury Lawyers of the Drillers, has been an active and engaged partner, and it's clear how deeply they care about the Tulsa community. Hosting this event at ONEOK Field makes it even more special. Many of these families may have never stepped inside a professional ballpark before. To give them the run of the stadium, filled with support, joy, and opportunity, is truly powerful. We're proud to be part of something that helps local kids feel confident, celebrated, and ready for the school year ahead.'
The back-to-school initiative is part of Graves McLain Injury Lawyers' long-standing commitment to serving Tulsa families. The firm originally launched its Free Backpack Program in 2016, with the mission to provide brand-new backpacks filled with supplies to as many Tulsa Public Schools students as possible. What began as a small, school-by-school donation effort has grown into a major annual event thanks to the vision of firm partners - Dan Graves, Chad McLain, and Rachel Gusman, the dedication of the entire Graves McLain team, and the support of every community partner involved.
The firm is currently welcoming additional community partners and volunteers who want to take part in this impactful day. Local businesses, nonprofits, and service providers are invited to host tables, lead kid-friendly activities, or volunteer.

Breakdown video shows how sign stealing sent Little League game into chaos

As dozens of teams across multiple regions and countries compete for a chance to reach the Little League World Series, there's bound to be some controversy along the way. But a sign-stealing scandal in Little League baseball? Well, we kind of got that on Sunday. In an elimination game between Tulsa National and Texas West in the Southwest Regional tournament, play was halted twice as the second-base umpire noticed that Tulsa players were relaying pitch signals from second to the hitter. Now, in more advanced levels of baseball, relaying signs or looking for tipped pitches is totally legal. MLB teams, for example, use PitchCom to prevent base runners for relaying signs to a hitter, and pitchers sometimes intentionally balk to move a runner off second base. But in Little League, it's explicitly banned for unsportsmanlike conduct. In a great breakdown video from Jomboy Media, we could see as the entire game devolved into chaos. Little League rules call for an initial warning and then an ejection if sign relaying continued. But Tulsa National was able to get two warnings and have an ejection overruled. It all led to Tulsa taking the lead and ultimately winning on a go-ahead grand slam. But despite the controversial (and electric) win on Sunday, Tulsa's road to Williamsport ended in a 5-2 semifinal loss to Texas East on Monday.

Luka Doncic is named an ambassador for ESPN's Take Back Sports initiative

Armed with a new three-year, $165 million contract extension that he agreed to on Saturday, Luka Doncic can stay in the moment, as he will be a member of the Los Angeles Lakers for at least the next three seasons. He is about to take part in the EuroBasket tournament overseas. The competition's exhibition slate of games will start on Friday, and the actual tournament will commence near the end of this month. In the meantime, Doncic is teaming up with ESPN to become a Take Back Sports ambassador in order to promote an active lifestyle for children. 'Play changed my life. Every kid deserves the chance to play, learn, grow, have fun and make friends,' said Luka Dončić. 'The Luka Dončić Foundation and ESPN's Take Back Sports initiative are focused on making youth sports more accessible and less stressful for everyone. Together, we can bring the joy back to the game.' The Take Back Sports initiative was started earlier this year in collaboration with Golden State Warriors living legend Stephen Curry and his wife Ayesha's Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation. Now Doncic is a part of this large initiative that is not only encouraging kids to be active but is also looking to prevent kids from quitting sports. Quarterback Lamar Jackson and running back Derrick Henry from the Baltimore Ravens and retired NFL stars Eli and Peyton Manning are just a few other athletes who have also been named as ambassadors for the Take Back Sports initiative. Kyren Williams, Rams agree to three-year extension

Running back Kyren Williams and the Rams' brass have each talked about the desire to reach a contract extension throughout the offseason. Now, that has come to fruition. According to multiple reports, Williams and the Rams have agreed to a a three-year extension. The initial numbers indicate the deal is worth $33 million with $23 million guaranteed. A fifth-round pick in 2022, Williams has been a key cog in Los Angeles' offense over the last two seasons. In 2024, he rushed for 1,299 yards with 14 touchdowns while also catching 34 passes for 182 yards with two TDs. While Williams missed five games in 2023, he still led the league at 95.3 yards per game, making his first Pro Bowl. He was previously entering the final season of his rookie contract. Williams' new deal could set the stage for Bills running back James Cook to get his second contract and end his current hold-in with the defending AFC East champions.
