Ammon10 hours ago
Ammon News - Minister of Investment Tariq Abu Ghazaleh on Monday held talks with a ministerial delegation from the Republic of Uzbekistan, headed by Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov, on enhancing relations and advancing economic and investment cooperation.
Abu Ghazaleh underscored Jordan's pride in its ties with Uzbekistan, highlighting the untapped potential for collaboration in priority sectors, including information technology, tourism, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, mining, textiles, and public-private partnership projects.
He detailed that trade exchange between the two countries amounted to $6.9 million in 2024, with Jordan exporting pharmaceuticals, machinery, and chemical products, and importing copper, fruits, nuts, and cocoa products. He noted both sides' aspiration to substantially increase this trade volume in the coming years.
The minister pointed out that Jordan and Uzbekistan signed an economic and trade cooperation agreement in 1996, while negotiations on a bilateral investment promotion and protection agreement are nearing completion. He also presented Jordan's Economic Modernization Vision, which targets attracting over JD41 billion in investments, supported by pro-investment legislation, particularly the 2022 Investment Environment Law, ensuring equal treatment for investors, safeguarding their rights, and offering incentives for projects with high employment, export capacity, and innovation.
Abu Ghazaleh stressed that Jordan's economic resilience stems from structural reforms, including the establishment of the Ministry of Investment as the central body for investor services. He invited Uzbek companies to leverage Jordan's strategic location, extensive network of free trade agreements, and investment prospects in sectors such as water desalination, transportation, education, and the digital economy.
He further emphasized Jordan's role as a regional logistical and industrial hub for reconstruction efforts, advocating for partnerships that generate sustainable benefits for both nations.

JCI says building 'promising' partnerships between knitting sector, Saudi Misbah Group

AMMAN — The Jordan Chamber of Industry (JCI) on Monday launched a series of events and qualitative meetings between the leather and knitting industries sector and the Saudi Al Musbah Group. Al Musbah Group is one of the 'most prominent' leading investment groups with a 'strong' presence in the Gulf market, JCI said, noting that these events and meetings, which were attended by a group of local factories operating in the sector, establish "promising" partnerships between the two sides. Such events also contribute to enhancing the Jordanian presence in foreign exhibitions of interest to the sector, especially the (Sourcing as Magic) exhibition held in the US and represented the starting point for this partnership. These events and meetings came with the support of the ITC-MENATEX project, which is implemented in cooperation between the JCI and the International Trade Centre (ITC) and funded by the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida) and the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID). The events and meetings aim at enhancing the competitiveness of the sector through sustainable trade, supporting the transition towards a circular economy, improving environmental performance, increasing exports and enhancing Jordan's presence in international exhibitions. The events included an innovative showcase of the sector's products and field visits to Jordanian factories that demonstrated their 'high production capacity' and commitment to the highest quality standards. This step marks the beginning of sustainable business partnerships that open new markets, support exports, and create job opportunities. The textile and clothing sector in Jordan produces goods worth $2.6 billion annually, exports nearly $2 billion, and provides 96,000 job opportunities, the JCI statement added.

Ammon News - Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply Yarub Qudah on Monday discussed with Uzbek Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade Laziz Kudratov ways to enhance bilateral cooperation, particularly in the economic field. According to a Ministry statement, the two sides underscored the depth of historical relations between Jordan and Uzbekistan and stressed the importance of building upon them to broaden cooperation in various sectors, especially non-traditional ones, to diversify trade partnerships and strengthen private sector ties in both countries. The two ministers agreed to establish a joint committee to explore cooperation opportunities, coordinate efforts, and follow up on joint projects. Qudah highlighted Jordan's investment advantages, its access to regional and international markets, and its potential role as a gateway for the reconstruction of Syria and the expansion into regional markets, supported by bilateral and multilateral free trade agreements. He pointed to prospects in pharmaceuticals, clothing and textiles, exports to the US market, and industrial integration in extractive industries such as phosphates, potash, and fertilizers, as well as tourism, sports, digital services, and video game development. He stressed the need to pursue rapid gains through integrated projects, particularly in clothing, jewelry, and fertilizers, leveraging the industrial base and natural resources of both countries. For his part, Kudratov underlined Uzbekistan's interest in deepening economic cooperation with Jordan, noting that the Kingdom could be a gateway to Middle Eastern and African markets, while Uzbekistan could serve as a hub for the Eurasian Union. Jordan welcomes Australia's decision to recognize State of Palestine

Ammon News - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates on Monday welcomed Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese's announcement that his country will officially recognize the State of Palestine during the United Nations General Assembly in September. Spokesperson Sufian Qudah called it "a key step in the right direction" towards ending the occupation and fulfilling the rights of the Palestinian people, foremost of which is the establishment of an independent state under the two-state solution. Jordan valued the statement by the Australian Prime Minister as a response to international efforts to rally for more recognition of a Palestinian state on the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative, he said. Qudah reiterated that the Kingdom will work with Arab and international partners to support the Palestinian people's right to freedom, ending the occupation and self-determination, and the establishment of their independent state on their national soil.
