SCI launches humanitarian initiative for Gaza
This initiative is part of the UAE's wider "Gallant Knight 3" campaign, launched by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to support the people of Gaza and alleviate their suffering.
Goals of the initiative
Mohammed Rashid bin Bayat, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sharjah Charity International, stated that the initiative seeks to allocate AED 1.2 million for water well drilling to serve over 312,000 residents, and allocate AED 1.4 million to operate kitchens providing hot meals daily to families in need.
He emphasised that access to water and food are fundamental human needs, especially in the challenging circumstances currently faced by the people of Gaza

Sustainable and immediate relief projects
Bin Bayat highlighted that drilling wells is a sustainable solution to Gaza's water shortage and will help stabilise health and environmental conditions. Meanwhile, operating charity kitchens will offer daily, balanced meals to vulnerable groups, including children, the elderly, and the sick

Easy and flexible donation options
To encourage participation, the association has made donations accessible through the Smart Link on the official website, payment platforms including Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, and credit cards, as well as text messaging, bank transfers, and cash donations at official locations, mosques, and commercial outlets.
Commitment to transparency and humanitarian principles
The Vice Chairman reiterated that the association adheres to a transparent and integrated operational system, ensuring that donations reach the intended beneficiaries efficiently. He noted that the initiative is part of a broader effort by the UAE to fulfill its humanitarian mission, strengthen brotherly ties, and offer vital support where it is most urgently needed

Users can request and track buses in real time via a smart app, which also allows for cashless payments and instant quality feedback. The system enables users to set their pick-up and drop-off points without being restricted to fixed bus stops or schedules, offering flexibility tailored to residents' and visitors' needs. The service facilitates convenient travel from residential areas to daily destinations, including commercial centres, restaurants, service facilities, and workplaces—reducing dependence on private cars and improving overall accessibility. Smart features Abdulaziz Al Jarwan, Director of Transport Affairs at SRTA, stated that buses are equipped with internal surveillance cameras to ensure a safe travel environment. Linked to AI systems, the buses collect real-time data on passenger numbers, demographics, and usage patterns, enabling data-driven decision-making for improved operations and future planning. The buses are also equipped to accommodate people of determination, with features that ensure easy boarding and movement. The launch coincided with the Eid Al-Adha holidays—an ideal time due to increased travel activity. The initiative is part of SRTA's long-term strategy for a scalable, smart, and sustainable transport network. The first phase will be evaluated to guide potential expansion to other areas in the future, in line with SRTA's mission to improve quality of life and ensure accessible mobility for all.

Abu Dhabi announces AED4.62bn housing benefit package
His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, has approved a housing benefits package worth AED4.62 billion for 3,052 citizens in the emirate. The approved package include housing loans amounting to AED4.4 billion benefiting 2,862 citizens, and exemptions from loan repayments totalling AED212 million benefiting 190 citizens, limited-income retirees and beneficiaries of deceased citizens. The disbursement of the second housing package of 2025 comes ahead of Eid Al Adha and reflects the leadership's ongoing commitment to comprehensive development, enhancing the wellbeing and stability of Emirati families, empowering them to actively contribute to the nation's progress, in line with UAE Year of Community objectives aimed at strengthening social cohesion and reinforcing community solidarity. The package follows the recent endorsement of an additional community support subsidy of AED250,000 for existing beneficiaries of housing loans, including a reduction of up to 50 per cent in monthly loan instalments, and a wide range of other services and facilities. It brings the total housing benefits delivered to citizens in Abu Dhabi in 2025 to AED11.38 billion.

UAE President checks on wellbeing of Emirati Hajj pilgrims
UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan held a telephone call on Thursday with the Head of the UAE Pilgrims Affairs Office to enquire about the wellbeing of Emirati pilgrims performing Hajj at the holy sites. His Highness congratulated them on completing their pilgrimage and on the occasion of Eid Al-Adha, wishing them continued good health. The call was made to His Excellency Dr Omar Habtoor Al Darei, Chairman of the General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat, and Head of the UAE Pilgrims Affairs Office. His Highness also praised Saudi Arabia for the exceptional services and facilities it provides to ensure the comfort and safety of pilgrims throughout the Hajj. Dr Al Darei expressed his deep appreciation for the President's ongoing commitment to following up on the needs of UAE citizens, both at home and abroad. He also thanked His Highness for his continued support of the Pilgrims Affairs Office, which enables the team to deliver comprehensive services and ensure a smooth and safe Hajj experience for all Emirati pilgrims.
