Your AirPods might start translating live conversations soon, and this iOS 26 beta just gave you proof

Phone Arena2 days ago
iOS 26 beta code is now suggesting a cool new feature coming to Apple's AirPods: Live Translation. As early as March 2025, the feature was rumored for AirPods. Basically, as the name suggests, this feature would allow for the AirPods to translate in-person conversations from one language to another. Back in June, Apple announced Live Translation, but it has still not made its way to AirPods.Right now, Live Translation works in calls and Messages on iPhones that support Apple Intelligence. AirPods, however, still can't translate real-world conversations, and Apple has not announced that this feature will be available on AirPods just yet.
A newly discovered gesture suggests that Apple may be working on adding Live Translation to the AirPods Pro 2 and the AirPods 4. The gesture was discovered in iOS 26 's sixth beta. It is a new system asset, with a gesture activated by pressing both AirPod stems simultaneously.
Previously, the AirPods Pro 2 gained Hearing Health features, including hearing aid and hearing test functionality that was approved by the FDA.

If this hint turns out right and Apple does include Live Translation for AirPods, it will probably only be available with iPhones that already support it. For example, an iPhone 15 Pro or newer, basically, those that support Apple Intelligence . Likely, this also includes iPads that support it, or Macs with M1 or newer Apple Silicon chip. Apple's Translate app currently has a conversation feature, but it's way more clunky than what is expected to be the direct translation feature in AirPods.Meanwhile, Apple's main competitor, Samsung, already has its Live Translate feature, available with One UI 6.1 or later. Google's Pixel Buds also offer the same functionality with a Conversation Mode.
In my opinion, Live Translation on AirPods sounds amazing – especially for someone like me who's fascinated by languages and different cultures. Being able to have real-time conversations without language barriers would open up so many possibilities. If Apple makes it smooth, I'd definitely use it all the time, whether traveling or just chatting with friends from around the world.

iPhone 17 Air dummy unit in Sky Blue stars in new hands-on video

There's been a lot of talk about colorways for Apple's upcoming iPhones, as all of the models are getting new hues. The iPhone 17 Air itself is an entirely new model, one with which Apple will be testing how far people are willing to go for a sleek look - how much they're willing to pay for it, both in actual money and in terms of tradeoffs like a tiny battery and just one rear camera. We'll find out soon enough, but until we do, let's enjoy a hands-on video showing an iPhone 17 Air dummy unit in the upcoming Sky Blue colorway. IPhone 17 Air Sky Blue looks amazing — Majin Bu (@MajinBuOfficial) August 13, 2025 It's not quite 'baby blue', but it's more blue than other desaturated blues, and it can in fact remind you of the sky. It looks pleasant and once again the iPhone 17 Air's insane thinness is on display - the latest rumor on the matter claimed we should expect it to measure 5.65mm to 5.7mm. The iPhone 17 family is expected to be unveiled at a special event on September 9.

Gemini update adds private Temporary Chats and smarter personalization

Google is updating the Gemini app with new features designed to make it more personal and flexible, while also giving users more ways to control their data. The update brings a new personalization setting, a Temporary Chat option, and changes to privacy controls. The new "Personal context" setting allows Gemini to remember key details from your past conversations and use them to offer more relevant suggestions. Over time, this can make exchanges feel more natural and tailored. If you have asked for book recommendations before, it could point you toward similar titles. And if you have discussed making videos about Japanese culture, it might suggest related topics the next time you ask for ideas. This setting is turned on by default for users on the 2.5 Pro model in select countries, with plans to expand to more models and regions soon. However, you can turn it off at any time in the app's settings under "Personal context." The update also adds "Temporary Chat," which lets you start one-off conversations that do not affect your future results and are not saved in Gemini Apps Activity. These chats are kept for up to 72 hours so Gemini can reply and process any feedback, but they are not used to train Google's AI models. Google is renaming the "Gemini Apps Activity" setting to "Keep Activity." When this is on, a sample of your future uploads, such as files or photos, may be used to improve Google services. If you prefer, you can turn it off or use Temporary Chat. Keep Activity with audio and live recordings. | Image credit — Google Another control added earlier this month lets you choose whether audio, video, and screens shared with Gemini are used to improve services. This is off by default but can be switched on. These updates bring Gemini in line with competing AI assistants like ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot, which also offer personalization and history-free chat modes. Google's version makes these tools easy to toggle on and off, which could appeal to mobile users who want quick control. Gemini's new features could make it feel more like a personal assistant that learns your preferences, while Temporary Chat gives privacy-minded users a way to keep certain conversations off the record. The real test will be whether people are comfortable enough to keep personalization on, or if they will prefer to stick with a more private, one-off approach. Get 50% off – try it for 3 months today! Massive Apple leak: how Cupertino is bringing science fiction to your living room before Samsung or Google

Apple is finally turning things around, or so a new massive leak suggests. It's no secret that the company failed to deliver Apple Intelligence on time, but that might not matter anymore: as Apple is bringing science fiction to your living leak revealed a lot of details about how the company's new upcoming products will function, and when some of them will launch. And, honestly? It all seems like very exciting stuff. Imagine there's an arm attached to this. | Image credit — PhoneArena There have been reports for quite a while that Apple is working on a robot, in an unprecedented push into an emerging category of products: home robotics. While Samsung's Ballie robot will beat Apple's offering to the market, what the latter is working on sounds pretty to the leak ( subscription required ), Apple's robot will be like an iPad-sized display with an arm attached to it. We pretty much knew that before, but what we didn't know was that this thing can move around. Even more interestingly, it can converse with multiple people at intends to make this robot feel like another person in the room. It will be powered by a new LLM (Large Language Model) Siri, which will have a unique personality, and will be capable of partaking in an ongoing conversation. Apple is also going to give the robot a visual representation on the display, so that it feels more lifelike to the people in the room. The company plans to launch this robot in 2027, alongside a new iPhone Pro model, for the flagship phone's 20th of the other new products that Apple is working on is a smart home hub, which is just a display, no fancy arms included. This will also use Siri, and talking to it would be the primary means of communication between it and the like similar products already on the market, the smart home hub will be able to control your smart home. It will also be able to carry out other tasks like: Music playback Note-taking Web browsing And video conferencing The hub will also be capable of recognizing different people in a room, and altering its layout when a certain person approaches it. This device is being prepped for launch next year, alongside the foldable iPhone. Apple promised a ton of AI features for the iPhone 16 last year. | Image credit — Apple Apple didn't deliver on the revamped Siri it had promised for the iPhone 16 last year, but now it might have something even better. Company executive Craig Federighi told Apple employees this month that their work on Siri had achieved the results that they had wanted. According to him, Apple is now in a position to deliver even more than what was initially shown off at WWDC 2024. Many people, myself included, have wondered over the last few months whether Apple may be too late to the AI race. Fortunately for the company, not as many consumers have taken to AI as its rivals had hoped. This has allowed Apple to not only catch up, but to make a comeback that will be written about for years to company will be launching a visually redesigned digital assistant in the spring of next year. Apple is also experimenting with a different version of Siri that runs on third-party AI models, and we may see that make its way to consumer devices as this has been covered before, it needs to be mentioned again because a few more details have emerged. Apple's competitor to the Ring camera will be a device that will be intelligent enough to understand a lot of with facial recognition as well as infrared sensors, the company wants users to install these cameras around their house to complement the smart home hub. The cameras could, for example, detect when someone leaves a room, and turn off the lights and the music that was playing there. They can also do the opposite: recognize someone and play their favorite song when they walk is investing heavily into home automation and security: it's even tested a doorbell that had facial recognition that let it unlock a door automatically. The goal, according to previous and current reports, is for Apple to replace offerings from rivals by promising users enhanced security and data privacy. If Apple does manage to deliver on this, it will be like watching a phoenix rise from the ashes. The company has been in a bit of a slump for some time now, so all of these products — in addition to the new types of iPhone models coming out — should help it greatly.
