Your AirPods might start translating live conversations soon, and this iOS 26 beta just gave you proof
A newly discovered gesture suggests that Apple may be working on adding Live Translation to the AirPods Pro 2 and the AirPods 4. The gesture was discovered in iOS 26 's sixth beta. It is a new system asset, with a gesture activated by pressing both AirPod stems simultaneously.
Previously, the AirPods Pro 2 gained Hearing Health features, including hearing aid and hearing test functionality that was approved by the FDA.

If this hint turns out right and Apple does include Live Translation for AirPods, it will probably only be available with iPhones that already support it. For example, an iPhone 15 Pro or newer, basically, those that support Apple Intelligence . Likely, this also includes iPads that support it, or Macs with M1 or newer Apple Silicon chip. Apple's Translate app currently has a conversation feature, but it's way more clunky than what is expected to be the direct translation feature in AirPods.Meanwhile, Apple's main competitor, Samsung, already has its Live Translate feature, available with One UI 6.1 or later. Google's Pixel Buds also offer the same functionality with a Conversation Mode.
In my opinion, Live Translation on AirPods sounds amazing – especially for someone like me who's fascinated by languages and different cultures. Being able to have real-time conversations without language barriers would open up so many possibilities. If Apple makes it smooth, I'd definitely use it all the time, whether traveling or just chatting with friends from around the world.

Google is updating the Gemini app with new features designed to make it more personal and flexible, while also giving users more ways to control their data. The update brings a new personalization setting, a Temporary Chat option, and changes to privacy controls. The new "Personal context" setting allows Gemini to remember key details from your past conversations and use them to offer more relevant suggestions. Over time, this can make exchanges feel more natural and tailored. While Samsung's Ballie robot will beat Apple's offering to the market, what the latter is working on sounds pretty to the leak ( subscription required ), Apple's robot will be like an iPad-sized display with an arm attached to it. We pretty much knew that before, but what we didn't know was that this thing can move around. Even more interestingly, it can converse with multiple people at intends to make this robot feel like another person in the room. It will be powered by a new LLM (Large Language Model) Siri, which will have a unique personality, and will be capable of partaking in an ongoing conversation. Apple is also going to give the robot a visual representation on the display, so that it feels more lifelike to the people in the room. Company executive Craig Federighi told Apple employees this month that their work on Siri had achieved the results that they had wanted. According to him, Apple is now in a position to deliver even more than what was initially shown off at WWDC 2024. Many people, myself included, have wondered over the last few months whether Apple may be too late to the AI race. Fortunately for the company, not as many consumers have taken to AI as its rivals had hoped. This has allowed Apple to not only catch up, but to make a comeback that will be written about for years to company will be launching a visually redesigned digital assistant in the spring of next year. They can also do the opposite: recognize someone and play their favorite song when they walk is investing heavily into home automation and security: it's even tested a doorbell that had facial recognition that let it unlock a door automatically. The goal, according to previous and current reports, is for Apple to replace offerings from rivals by promising users enhanced security and data privacy. If Apple does manage to deliver on this, it will be like watching a phoenix rise from the ashes. The company has been in a bit of a slump for some time now, so all of these products — in addition to the new types of iPhone models coming out — should help it greatly.
