Revanth seeks report on paddy procurement
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has set June 1 deadline to all in-charge ministers and District Collectors to submit a comprehensive report on paddy procurement, Indiramma houses, Bhu Bharati, revenue conferences and an action plan for Kharif season. On the same day, the Chief Minister will hold a special meeting with all ministers and take some important decisions based on the report.
Before submitting the reports, the Chief Minister instructed the district in-charge ministers to visit the respective districts on Thursday and Friday and hold reviews on important issues.
At a high-level meeting and video conference with all District Collectors on Tuesday, the Chief Minister instructed the authorities to address the challenges arising due to the early onset of the southwest monsoon and complete the paddy procurement. Taking serious note of the farmers' problems, the Chief Minister assured that the government would procure all paddy stock-piled in the market yards.
In the wake of protests on paddy procurement in some parts in 21 districts, the Chief Minister asked the authorities to conduct field visits and address the issues on the spot. He also gave specific instructions to the authorities to file cases against those who deliberately spread malicious propaganda against the government.
In view of the ensuing farming season, Reddy ordered the Agriculture Department officials to be vigilant and ensure the adequate availability of seeds and fertilizers in all districts. He ordered that the PD Act should be imposed on those with a criminal record of supplying adulterated seeds, if necessary.
The CM stressed that the new Bhu Bharati Act, which has been introduced by the government, is a boon for farmers. Therefore, it should be taken closer to the people and awareness seminars should be organised in a big way, he added.
The government will organize a third phase of revenue seminars from June 3 to 20 and the in-charge ministers of all districts should prepare a schedule and plan for organizing revenue seminars, he said.
Instructing the Collectors to take up the construction of Indiramma houses in a mission mode, Revanth Reddy said the lists of beneficiaries would be finalised by May end.

Uttam vows to intensify battle against AP's ‘illegal' Banakacherla project
HYDERABAD The Telangana government will intensify its determined fight against the Polavaram (Godavari)-Banakacherla (Krishna-Penna) Link Scheme proposed by Andhra Pradesh to protect Telangana's river water rights,, Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy Reddy said on Friday. He stated that the State Government had written multiple letters to the Centre already highlighting the serious violations by AP and demanding immediate intervention. In a letter to Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil on January 22, he had explained how AP was going ahead with the Banakacherla project to divert Godavari water to Rayalaseema and South Coastal Andhra by proposing a 150 tmc ft capacity reservoir at Bollapalli in Guntur district. In an informal interaction with the media, he pointed out that the project was unveiled by AP during a press conference on December 29 last year without submitting a Detailed Project Report (DPR) or seeking any mandatory approvals. He stressed that AP had not obtained technical clearances from the Central Water Commission (CWC) and approvals from the Godavari River Management Board (GRMB), Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) and the Apex Council, as mandated by the AP Reorganisation Act 2014. 'No project on inter-state rivers could proceed without these approvals. AP is brazenly bypassing all statutory mechanisms,' Mr. Reddy said and accused AP of misusing Sections 46(2) and 46(3) of the APRA 2014 to seek funds from the Union Finance Ministry under the backward regions development clause. He made it clear that these sections could not override Part IX of the Act, which deals with inter-state river water management, requiring technical clearance, inter-state consultations and Apex Council approval before proceeding with any project. He noted that AP's project was also violating the Godavari Water Disputes Tribunal (GWDT) Award of 1980, which apportioned 966 tmc ft water to Telangana out of a total of 1,486 tmc ft. Mr. Reddy alleged that AP was trying to grab unquantified and unallocated 'flood waters' that belong to both the States. 'These so-called 'flood waters' are not extra water that AP can claim. They are subject to equitable sharing and any diversion directly impacts Telangana's drought-prone regions', he said adding that he had mentioned all these aspects in his letters too. Stating that AP had neither shared any proposal with Telangana nor provided any DPR for scrutiny by the relevant boards. He noted that AP had not sent the project's DPR along with its multiple letters to the Union Finance Ministry and the Ministry of Jal Shakti seeking funds and termed it an an attempt to mislead the Centre and push the project without scrutiny. He also faulted the previous Bharat Rashtra Samith (BRS) Government for keeping quiet on the Rayalseema Lift Irrigation Project and expansion of the Pothireddypadu Head Regulator (PRP). Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj (RDPR) Priyank Kharge clarified that the State government has neither shirked responsibility nor is defending the stampede that occurred during the RCB victory celebrations at Bengaluru on Wednesday evening (June 4, 2025) in which 11 people died. 'We are all pained by the deaths of youths, and the tragic incident is not a matter of pride for any government,' he grieved. Addressing presspersons in Kalaburagi city on Friday Mr. Kharge reiterated that he was not defending the stampede incident and claimed that there were lapses in planning on the part of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)-the cricket team of IPL, Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), and the Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI). If there was any faults on the government's part, the investigation will unearth the truth, he added. He explained that, citing security concerns the State government had denied permission for the victory parade, and the BJP leaders objected to this decision and tweeted against it-which they later deleted. He urged BJP not stoop so low to politicise the tragic incident. 'The State government has expressed condolences to the bereaved families of the victims and announced compensation, meanwhile a judicial magistrate inquiry is underway and even the police officials have been suspended,' Mr. Kharge added. Responding sharply to BJP's demand for the resignation of the Home Minister G. Parameshwara, Mr. Kharge stated that similar standards must apply to all incidents and he questioned whether anyone had demanded the resignation of the Union Home Minister or the External Affairs Minister over the recent Pahalgam terror attack incident. Crop Insurance The Minister said that the State government had released a crop insurance of ₹341 crore for Kalaburagi district during the last monsoon season, the Congress-led State government was fully committed for furthering the welfare of farmers, and we have prioritized increasing the number of farmers covered under the insurance scheme, he said. State may face DAP shortage Mr. Kharge cautioned that the State may face shortage of DAP this Kharif season, as Karnataka has received only 42% of the required quantity of the fertilizer so far. He alleged that the Central government has diverted our share to Bihar, and our Agriculture Minister (N.
