The son of the crown princess was charged on Monday with a total of 32 criminal offences. Of this, four counts are of rape - one count of rape with sexual intercourse and three counts of rape without intercourse, which he allegedly filmed on his phone. Høiby was named as a suspect of physical assault against a woman, bringing the domestic violence charge against him. "The violence consisted, among other things, of him repeatedly hitting her in the face, including with a clenched fist, choking her, kicking her and grabbing her hard,' said the prosecutor in the case. Following the domestic violence charge, Høiby admitted to causing bodily harm" while under the influence of cocaine and alcohol. Speaking to media at the time, he said he 'regretted his actions.' The royal family, from which Høiby has been distanced, said they would continue their duties. "It is up to Norway's courts to decide the outcome of the case," Crown Prince Haakon told reporters. "We will continue to carry out our duties as best we can, as we always do," he added further. Prosecutors have stated that that Høiby will face trial in early 2026, with the charges carrying a potential prison sentence of up to 10 years if he is convicted. The 28-year-old was also arrested in 2017 for using cocaine at a music festival. Additionally, in 2023, he was also contacted by the police to discuss his "hangouts" with gang members, specifically from Hells Angels bikers and Oslo's Albanian mafia.

Marius Borg Høiby is the son of the Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit and stepson to Crown Prince Haakon. The 28-year-old is the crown princess' son from a previous relationship, prior to her marriage with Haakon in 2001.
Høiby does not have a royal title and is outside the line of royal succession.

An unidentified flying object has crashed, exploded in Polands east
Agency: Last Updated: Warsaw, Aug 20 (AP) An unidentified flying object crashed into a cornfield and exploded in eastern Poland early Wednesday, the country's news agency PAP reported. Local police said they received reports of the crash around 2 am and found burned metal and plastic debris at the scene, near the village of Osiny. As a result of the explosion, windows were broken in some houses but nobody was injured, PAP reported. Poland's Armed Forces Operational Command said Wednesday on social media that no violations of Polish airspace from neighbouring Ukraine or Belarus were recorded overnight. Officials initially said the explosion may have been caused by a part of an old engine with a propeller. Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz later said the object was most likely a drone, adding that an analysis was underway to determine whether it was a military or smuggling one, PAP reported. Lublin District Prosecutor Grzegorz Trusiewicz told reporters several investigators — both civilian and military — were examining the crash site. 'We have a lot of manpower, we have the army to help us. I hope that we will be able to finish the operation by the evening," Trusiewicz said. Sean Gardner, 38, was taken into custody by the FBI for producing child pornography. The investigation began after reports of inappropriate contact with gymnasts at Chow's Gymnastics and Dance Institute in West Des Moines, Iowa. The FBI said Gardner 'primarily targeted children' at gyms in Iowa, Mississippi, and Louisiana. He worked in those states for about ten years until 2014. The gymnast said Gardner touched her inappropriately during practices, asked personal questions like whether she was sexually active, and called her and others names such as 'idiots, sluts, and whores,' according to the Associated Press. In July 2022, four months later, Gardner was suspended by SafeSport for 'allegations of misconduct.' Chow's also removed him from his coaching position. At first, the gymnast chose not to press charges, and the case was paused. In April 2024, another gymnast came forward with new claims. She said she began lessons with Gardner in 2019, when she was 11 or 12, and thought of him as a 'father figure.' She later said he touched her inappropriately during exercises, had her perform stretches that made her uncomfortable, recorded her on his phone, and talked about his sex life. About 16 months later, police got a warrant to search Gardner's home. Hidden camera footage of girls found in 2024 search In May 2024, officers seized several electronic devices.
