Three new JKMR members named to boost integrity, governance
KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has expressed hope that the appointment of three new members to the Special Committee on Corruption (JKMR) would strengthen public confidence in the government's efforts to enhance integrity and governance.
In a Facebook post, Anwar said that the committee plays a crucial role in advising the Prime Minister on various aspects related to corruption issues and reviewing the Annual Report of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
'It is hoped that the appointment of these JKMR members would reinforce public trust in the government's efforts to improve integrity and governance, in line with the aspirations of Malaysia MADANI, which emphasises the values of transparency and accountability in the country's administration system,' he posted.
Earlier, Anwar presented the appointment letter to the three new members of the special committee, namely Senator Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz, Senator Datuk Seri Prof Emeritus Dr Awang Sariyan, and Langkawi Member of Parliament Datuk Mohd Suhaimi Abdullah in a simple ceremony at the Parliament building, witnessed by MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki.
The appointment is for a term of three years, effective from April 25, 2025, to April 25, 2028.

When asked about the proposed adjustments involving RON95 petrol prices, Anwar reiterated that it will not affect 85 to 90 per cent of the population. He said the opposition's claims that people are suffering due to the subsidy rationalisation policy are nothing more than desperate political gimmicks aimed at creating a negative image of the government. Anwar said the government's move towards subsidy rationalisation is a critical step to ensure sufficient national resources are channelled effectively to benefit the lower-income group. "We want to have enough resources to help the poor, to enhance the quality of education and to provide better public services, including in healthcare," he said. MCA will fully support Pahang Youth chief, says Dr Wee
PETALING JAYA: MCA will support its Pahang Youth chief Wong Siew Mun with legal assistance, as she is due for questioning by Bukit Aman over the telco data issue, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong. 'The Pahang MCA Youth chief is scheduled to be questioned by the police in Bukit Aman regarding a video in which she cited a media report on the Government's directive for telcos to hand over user data,' the MCA president said in a Facebook post Monday (June 16).
