Examining NASCAR Cup 2nd-round In-Season Challenge matchups at Chicago
The 32-team field has been cut to 16 for Sunday's street race. The third round (eight remaining drivers) is at Sonoma. The fourth round (four remaining drivers) is at Dover. The final round (two remaining drivers) is at Indianapolis.
The winner will collect $1 million.

Road trip: Elliott has finished in the top five in both road course events this year, finishing third in Mexico and fourth at Circuit of the Americas. Nemechek finished sixth at Mexico for his best road course finish in Cup.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — A central Ohio Republican lawmaker is vowing to push back on Gov. Mike DeWine's efforts to ban prop bets for professional sports. Rep. Brian Stewart (R-Ashville) said prop bets should not be banned in Ohio. A prop bet is a form of sports wagering where people can bet on specific events within a game, such as how many passing touchdowns an NFL player will have or if an MLB player will hit a home run. 'Ohio legalized sports betting with bipartisan support,' Steward wrote in a post on X. 'It's a popular activity that adults should be free to enjoy. Prop bets are a big part of that plus they make up a substantial % of Ohio's tax revenue. They should not be banned & I'll be working to make sure they aren't.' Ohio among top 10 states with the highest property taxes, report says Stewart said Ohio has made $359 million in state tax revenue on sports gaming since January 2023. DeWine called on the Ohio Casino Control Commission to ban prop bets in Ohio after two Cleveland Guardians pitchers were placed on leave as part of a gambling investigation. DeWine also cited increasing threats to athletes. 'The harm to athletes and the integrity of the game is clear, and the benefits are not worth the harm,' DeWine said in a statement. 'The prop betting experiment in this country has failed badly.' In a statement to NBC4, the commission said it works closely with DeWine's office and the general assembly to protect the integrity of gambling. 'To that end, staff is gathering information for the Commission to consider,' a spokesperson said. 'The Commission with announce its next steps in the upcoming days.' How to watch Saturday's Cup race at Richmond: Start time, TV info and weather
With two races remaining in the regular season, Richmond Raceway will play host to its only Cup race this season Saturday night. The 16-driver playoff field essentially has three open spots with 13 winners essentially having locked into berths. Tyler Reddick (plus-117 points on the cutline) likely will secure a spot Saturday at the 0.75-mile oval regardless of his finish. Alex Bowman (plus-60) and Chris Buescher (34 points over Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing teammate Ryan Preece) are holding onto the final two provisional spots on points. Kyle Busch, Ty Gibbs and Brad Keselowski are among the drivers who will need a win at either Richmond or Daytona International Speedway to make the playoffs. Dustin Long, Richmond is the fourth of six short-track races this season. Chase Briscoe is the only driver with top-10 finishes in the first three short track races. Saturday will mark the first time in 67 years that Richmond is scheduled for only one race weekend with NASCAR's premier series. The short track had two annual races on the Cup schedule from 1959-2024 (one of its 2020 races was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic). Details for Saturday's Cup race at Richmond Raceway (All times Eastern) START: The race is scheduled to start shortly after 7:30 p.m.. PRERACE: The Cup garage will open at 4:30 p.m. ...
