IT cell head Amit Malviya highlighted the error, saying, 'It's Loktantra, not Loktantar.'
"Can't blame Congress They can neither spell nor save Loktantra They believe in Parivar Tantra and Emergency! Surely they can spell and save that," BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said.
The jibe came as opposition MPs, including Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, staged a demonstration at Parliament's Makar Dwar over the issue of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in poll-bound Bihar.
During the protest, MPs raised slogans against the
Election Commission
's exercise while holding a large banner that read: 'SIR: Loktantra par war' (Attack on democracy).
The opposition has alleged that the voter roll revision is being misused to suppress votes and disenfranchise certain sections of the population.
According to the Election Commission, 98.01% of voters in Bihar have been covered under the ongoing SIR as of July 23. Officials said the process has so far identified nearly 20 lakh deceased voters, 28 lakh individuals who have permanently migrated, 7 lakh voters enrolled in multiple locations, 1 lakh untraceable voters, and about 15 lakh unreturned voter forms. The EC also noted that 7.17 crore voter forms — approximately 90.89% of the total — have been received and digitised.
This is the first such revision in Bihar in 22 years. The EC says the aim of the SIR is to clean up the electoral rolls by removing ineligible, duplicate, or non-existent entries, while ensuring all eligible citizens are included.

In contrast, the UK deported 311 Indian nationals in the same five-year period, and 131 more in 2025 so far. The Minister clarified that deportation figures may vary, especially when individuals hold valid travel documents or challenge their deportation orders. Not all Emergency Travel Documents (ETDs) are ultimately used, due to appeals or stays. The MEA confirmed it has 'strongly registered' concerns with US authorities regarding the treatment of deportees, particularly over the use of shackles on women and children. Cultural and religious sensitivities — including issues related to turbans and dietary preferences — have also been formally raised. 'No complaints have been received regarding the treatment of deportees on flights post February 5, 2025,' the minister added.

He argued that her reaction to the entire issue was "misplaced and dangerously inflammatory", while adding that Delhi Police's letter does not describe Bangla as a 'Bangladeshi' language. "Mamata Banerjee's reaction to Delhi Police referring to the language used by infiltrators as 'Bangladeshi' is not just misplaced, it is dangerously inflammatory. Nowhere in the Delhi Police letter is Bangla or Bengali described as a 'Bangladeshi' language. To claim otherwise and call upon Bengalis to rise against the Centre is deeply irresponsible. Mamata Banerjee should be held accountable--perhaps even under the National Security Act--for inciting linguistic conflict," Malviya posted on X. Sharing a letter by Delhi Police on X, Banerjee said, "See now how Delhi police under the direct control of the Ministry of Home, Government of India, is describing Bengali as 'Bangladeshi' language! However, officials checked the records and found his name in the list.
