"Always been our priority": CMO Ramban on preparations for Amarnath Yatra
Ramban (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], June 29 (ANI): The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Ramban district, Kamal Jee Zadoo, shared details about the preparations for the Amarnath Yatra, which is scheduled to begin on July 3, stating that the Yatra remains a top priority for the administration.
The CMO confirmed that 17 medical camps will be established en route to the Amarnath Yatra in Ramban, which will have a 'mini hospital' similar to those hospitals that will offer medical and diagnostic facilities.
'Amarnath yatra has always been our priority. We will have 17 medical camps (en route to the Amarnath Yatra in Ramban district)... We will also have a mini-hospital, similar to those hospitals, which will offer beds and diagnostic facilities', CMO Ramban told ANI.
Furthermore, the Ramban CMO highlighted that the 'mini hospital' will be equipped with cardiac monitoring systems. Ambulance services will also be available for devotees, supported by a mobile medical team.
'We will also have a cardiac monitoring system... Ambulance facilities will also be provided during the Yatra with a mobile team - it's a new initiative that we are taking during this year's Yatra,' he said.
On June 28, Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir, Nalin Prabhat, held a joint security review meeting in Udhampur for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, scheduled to take place from July 1 to August 9, a release stated.
The meeting was held to check preparations and boost coordination among all agencies involved. It was attended by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Udhampur-Resai range, Sarah Rizvi, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP)
Udhampur Amod Nagpure, Additional SP Udhampur, other senior Officers of the District Police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), and traffic police.
Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha will flag off the first batch of the Amarnath Yatra from Jammu base camp on July 2, Jammu Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar said on Friday. (ANI)

Raj Bhavan Annadhan scheme launched in Goa by Kerala Governor Arlekar
Panaji (Goa) [India], June 29 (ANI): The 'Raj Bhavan Annadhan' scheme was officially launched on Sunday at Old Durbar Hall, Raj Bhavan, by Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar in the presence of Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. Goa Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai presided over the launch ceremony. A Cheque amounting to Rs 1,20,000 was handed to the Office bearers of the Goa Street Providence organisation. Kerala Governor Arlekar said that the books penned by Pillai are the window for the readers. His literature provides a gateway to new ideas, perspectives, and knowledge. Reading develops empathy among the readers, Arlekar added. Praising the work of Pillai, the Kerala Governor stated that Goa is fortunate to have a Governor like Pillai, who has consistently worked in the best interest of the people of Goa. 'He is the finest Governor I have seen,' Arlekar added. ' Governor Pillai has cited a unique example for other Raj Bhavans in the country, through his unique work for extending a helping hand to the needy people in the State. The Governor, through his noble work, has shown the path to others; we all have to follow him,' Arlekar said.. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said, 'Raj Bhavan Annadhan' scheme is a unique scheme, which can be seen only in the State of Goa. The Chief Minister stated that the Governor has gained insight into the life of the common man by personally visiting the remote parts of the State of Goa through his various yatras. Mentioning the rising cases of kidney disease in the State, Sawant appealed to kidney patients to maintain a careful diet. This will help individuals with kidney disease manage their condition and prevent further damage. Speaking about the initiatives of the Union Government, the Chief Minister mentioned the eSanjeevani and informed the public that the National Telemedicine Service of India is a step towards achieving digital health equity and Universal Health Coverage. The Chief Minister further stated that eSanjeevani provides quick and easy access to doctors and medical specialists. Governor Pillai spoke about the secret behind successfully implementing various schemes through the Raj Bhavan and complimented the Chief Minister for consistently supporting his initiatives. Speaking about the iconic slogan 'Jai Hind' popularised by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, the Governor said a Muslim soldier came up with this iconic slogan, and Netaji Bose gladly accepted it. The Annadhan scheme is an initiative of the Governor, whereby the Governor will donate the amount received as royalty from his books towards a noble cause. Financial assistance from the Discretionary Funds of the Governor, was distributed at the hands of Chief Minister to around 40 patients suffering from Cancer and dialysis. Sanjeev C Gauns Dessai, Secretary to the Governor, welcomed the guests. Mihir Vardhan, Special Officer, introduced the scheme. Bosco George proposed a vote of thanks. (ANI)

Jaipur Foot camp recieves enthusiastic response in Afghanistan
Kabul [Afghanistan], June 29 (ANI): As part of India's ongoing humanitarian assistance to the people of Afghanistan, a five-day 'Jaipur Foot' camp was organised in Kabul, the Ministry of External Affairs said on Sunday. MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal shared the information in a post on X staing that the camp saw an enthusiastic response. In a post on X, he said, 'As part of India's ongoing humanitarian assistance to the people of Afghanistan, a five-day Jaipur Foot camp was organised in Kabul by BMVSS, Jaipur. The camp saw an enthusiastic response, with around 75 prosthetic limbs successfully fitted.' Foreign on the spot fitment camps: BMVSS organise on the spot camps in Foreign country by now 111 camps have been held covering 44 countries in the world mention below. India's ministry of external affairs under its program INDIA FOR HUMANITY has funded and provided logistic support in 28 camps in 22 countries mentioned above. Bhagwan Mahavir Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS) is known globally for its 'Jaipur Foot' and rehabilitation for persons with disabilities. Jaipur Foot / Limb is a prosthetics using polymer (HDPE) for custom made socket, which is linked with specially designed Jaipur Foot (distinct from SACH Foot used in the Western Technology). Special joint, called the Jaipur-Knee, (developed by Stanford University, USA and BMVSS) is mostly provided, additionally for above-knee amputees. BMVSS the not-for-profit organization engaged in assisting differently-abled persons by providing them with the legendary low-cost prosthesis, the Jaipur Foot, and other mobility-assisting devices, free of cost. Known for its patient-centric culture, its focus on innovation, and for developing the USD 20 Stanford-Jaipur knee, BMVSS has assisted over a million people in its lifetime of over 44 years. As the founder, MDR Mehta, thinks about the financial sustainability of BMVSS, he must devise a strategy that will sustain its human impact well into the future. "This Success belongs to our health workers": PM Modi celebrates India's Trachoma-free status recognised by WHO
New Delhi [India], June 29 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in the 123rd edition of his monthly radio address Mann Ki Baat, celebrated a significant public health milestone, announcing that the World Health Organization (WHO) has officially declared India 'Trachoma-free.' Highlighting this achievement, PM Modi attributed the success to the tireless efforts of the country's frontline health workers. 'We resolved to eliminate trachoma and I am delighted to share with you that WHO has declared India as Trachoma-free. This is the result of the efforts of millions of people who tirelessly fought this disease without stopping. This success belongs to our health workers.' He also acknowledged the crucial role played by national initiatives like the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and the Jal Jeevan Mission, which contributed significantly to eliminating the root causes of trachoma. 'The 'Swatch Bharat Abhiyan' also played a major role in its elimination. 'Jal Jeevan Mission' also contributed significantly to this success. Now that clean water is reaching every household through taps, the risk of such diseases has reduced significantly. WHO has also appreciated that India not only dealt with the disease but also addressed its root causes,' he said. On October 8, 2024, the WHO declared that the Government of India has eliminated Trachoma as a public health problem. Trachoma is a bacterial eye infection that can cause blindness if left untreated. It was once widespread in many regions of India. He said, 'The first achievement is related to our health. Many of you might have heard about an eye disease - Trachoma. This disease spreads through bacteria, and there was a time when this disease was common in many parts of India. If neglected, this disease eventually causes blindness.' Meanwhile, during his address, PM Modi also condemned the imposition of the Emergency in the country and termed the period as one of the darkest chapters in India's democratic history. He said that the country is observing the 50th anniversary of the Emergency as 'Samvidhan Hatya Diwas'. He also played a rare archival audio of former Prime Ministers Morarji Desai, Babu Jagjivan Ram and Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who described the Emergency as a time of constitutional murder, mass arrests, and the suppression of civil liberties and press freedom. The Prime Minister asserted that every citizen should remember the ones who fought 'bravely' against the Emergency and it also inspires us to stay 'vigilant' to 'safeguard' the constitution. PM Modi said, 'Morarji Desai describes the Emergency in brief... Not only did those who imposed the Emergency murder democracy, but their intention was to keep the judiciary as their puppet... Under 'MISA', anyone was arrested arbitrarily, people were tortured... Indians refused to compromise on democracy. Finally, people won and the Emergency was lifted. Babu Jagjivan Ram powerfully about this.' MISA refers to the Maintenance of Internal Security Act, a law used extensively during the Emergency to detain political opponents without trial. (ANI)
