Int'l cricket match dream in Mysuru all set to be reality with new stadium approval
The process of granting land approval for a long-stalled sports complex has received a renewed boost. The state cabinet has now approved the necessary land to be allocated for the cricket stadium in Huyilalu village of Ilavala hobli in Mysuru. Yaduveer Wadiyar, who has been continuously advocating for this project as the MP for Mysuru, expressed his satisfaction at the recent developments.
In a statement released to the press, Yaduveer Wadiyar mentioned the excitement to fulfill the dreams of Mysureans to witness international cricket matches in the cultural capital. He highlighted that the construction of a cricket ground by the Karnataka State Cricket Association had been on hold for several years, but now has been reignited.
He also noted that he had met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Mysuru District Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevapppa, Revenue Minister Krishna Byregowda, and Chief Secretary Shalini Rajanish to push for this project. Their support was crucial in making this long-awaited dream a reality. The cabinet decision during a special meeting in Chamarajanagar to provide the required land for the stadium was welcomed as a significant achievement for Mysuru.
Yaduveer reaffirmed that the first phase of land approval has been completed, and he will ensure that land acquisition and other necessary works proceed swiftly. 'Our primary goal is to realize the dreams of Mysureans. I am committed to taking all necessary steps to make the cricket stadium a reality in our cultural capital. The decision about Bengaluru's replacement for the ICC women's ODI World Cup is set to be finalised later this week. With the Karnataka State Cricket Association informing the Board of Control for Cricket in India of its inability to obtain the requisite clearances to stage matches, the International Cricket Council, in consultation with the tournament host BCCI, has been trying to finalise the replacement venue for the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. With the World Cup opener barely six weeks away, time is running out to finalise the logistics. The Hindu understands that Thiruvananthapuram has emerged as a front-runner, with Guwahati in contention to host additional matches. According to a source in the know of things, a formal announcement will be made 'in a couple of days'. With Bengaluru having been deemed unfit following the stampede outside the stadium a day after the Indian Premier League final in June, the World Cup matches, including the final on November 2, will have to be rescheduled.

The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways will take a call 'within the next one month' on permitting old public-private-partnership ( PPP ) cargo terminals that started operations before a new law was enacted in 2021 to govern state-run major ports to migrate to a market-driven pricing regime to bring all operators on par, a top official has said.'That is in the final stages of deliberations. We are expecting to see something happening within the next one month,' T K Ramachandran, Secretary, Ministry of Ports , Shipping and Waterways said in Mumbai on August Major Port Authorities Act, passed by Parliament and notified in the gazette on February 18, 2021, gives freedom to the 11 ports it governs, and new cargo handling terminals set up by private firms at these ports, to levy market determined rates, by scrapping the Tariff Authority for Major Ports or TAMP, the erstwhile rate regulator for state-run the fate of the old cargo handlers was uncertain, with no clarity on allowing them to levy market rates. The old cargo terminals include those run by D P World Ltd, A P M Terminals Management B V and PSA International Ltd at Jawaharlal Nehru Port and Chennai Port, among 2023, the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways set up a three-member panel of port chairmen headed by Sanjay Sethi, the then Chairman, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority to examine the issue of permitting the regulated old PPP cargo terminal operators to migrate to a market pricing regime, similar to the freedom available to private cargo handlers that started operations after the new law took effect in Sethi-led panel suggested a set of guidelines for migrating the old cargo terminals to a market-driven rate regime with prospective effect keeping in view the commercial and other will be no change in royalty per unit/metric ton/twenty-foot equivalent unit/ forty-foot equivalent unit or royalty on revenue share basis per the original concession agreements, the panel suggested.'As an additional measure, the royalty as revenue share of the major port, would not under any circumstances go below what it would have got under the regime when tariff was fixed/determined as per the tariff guidelines.
