The Real Reason Trump Didn't Attend Jeff Bezos & Lauren Sanchez's Wedding After the Amazon Founder's Complicated History With the President
Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez's wedding guest list included a who's who of billionaires, from Oprah Winfrey to Kim Kardashian, but one name missing was President Donald Trump. White House officials confirmed to The Wall Street Journal in June 2025 that Trump—whose daughter Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner attended Bezos' wedding—was invited to the Amazon founder's nuptials, however, he was unable to attend due to scheduling conflicts. The day of Bezos and Sanchez's wedding, Trump held a press briefing at the White House following the Supreme Court's ruling in the birthright citizenship case, Trump v. CASA. More from StyleCaster The Real Reason Eva Longoria Didn't Attend BFF Lauren Sanchez's Wedding to Jeff Bezos After Accusing Their Other Guest's Family of 'Spewing Hate' Here's if Lauren Sanchez's Ex-Husband 'Knew' of Her Alleged Affair With Jeff Bezos & What He Thinks of the Amazon Founder Now According to The Wall Street Journal, Bezos, who is the founder of the spaceflight company Blue Origin, spoke to Trump at least twice in the month of his wedding, in a push for more government contracts following Trump's social media feud with rival billionaire space company founder, Elon Musk, at the start of June 2025. Blue Origin CEO David Limp also visited Trump's chief of staff, Susie Wiles, at the White House the month of the Amazon founder's wedding. 'The Trump Administration is committed to a rigorous review process for all bids and contracts, prioritizing the best deal for America and leveraging the most advanced and innovative technology,' White House principal deputy press secretary Harrison Fields told the Daily Beast. 'Decisions will be made at the appropriate time, based on thorough evaluation, and will not be previewed in the press.' Many speculate that Bezos' invitation for Trump to attend his wedding was a way to get on his good side as Blue Origin, like many of its rival space companies, relies on government contracts for steady income, credibility, and access to major U.S. space projects. A source told The Wall Street Journal that Bezos 'really' wanted to host Trump at his wedding as a 'charm offensive' in exchange for valuable government contracts for Blue Origin. Trump and Bezos didn't seem to be on good terms during Trump's first presidency, with Trump criticizing both Amazon and The Washington Post, which Bezos owns, and referring to him as 'Jeff Bozo.' Bezos' relationship with Trump seemed to have improved ahead of Trump's second term when Amazon donated $1 million to Trump's inaugural fund. Bezos, along with Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, all attended Trump's second inauguration, sitting in what has become known as the 'billionaires' row.' While Bezos' wedding was attended by Trump's daughter, Ivanka Trump, and his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, the nuptials also featured guests like Oprah Winfrey, Leonardo DiCaprio, Eva Longoria, and more A-listers who opposed Trump's re-election in November 2024—which could be another reason that the president chose not to attend the event. Along with working with Trump to grow Blue Origin, Bezos and Trump also made headlines in April 2025 when Punchbowl News reported that Amazon planned to display tariffs next to product prices on its website. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt called the report 'hostile and political' and accused Amazon of partnering with a 'Chinese propaganda arm,' in reference to a 2021 Reuters report about Amazon removing reviews on President Xi Jinping's speeches and writing. The president and Amazon founder to have smoothed things over quickly, however, after a reportedly 'pissed' Trump called Bezos, and Amazon released released a statement stating that it had only considered the tariff feature but didn't go forward with it. Trump also discussed the call with Bezos at a press briefing at the time. 'He was terrific,' he said. 'He solved a problem very quickly, and he did the right thing, and he's a good guy.' We're together all the time,' Sánchez told the Wall Street Journal about their private romance. The two have been spotted together on red carpets like the Met Gala and the Vanity Fair Oscars Party. More from StyleCaster The Real Reason Eva Longoria Didn't Attend BFF Lauren Sanchez's Wedding to Jeff Bezos After Accusing Their Other Guest's Family of 'Spewing Hate' Here's if Lauren Sanchez's Ex-Husband 'Knew' of Her Alleged Affair With Jeff Bezos & What He Thinks of the Amazon Founder NowNow, the two are set to be married at one of the most lavish ceremonies in Venice with an impressive guest list. Lauren Sánchez's net worth is reportedly $30 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth. She receives most of her income through her career as a news anchor and entrepreneur. Sánchez also serves as the vice chair of the Bezos Earth Fund, where she and her husband invested in their $10 billion commitment to help Africa's restoration movement. 'We really want to do the most we can with the dollars that we put into things,' Sánchez told Vogue. 'It's not about just giving the money away. It's about being involved.' She says that her philanthropy is 'very important' to her. 'I think Jeff and I really are focusing on the long-term commitment to climate, and we're extremely optimistic about it,' she elaborated. 'Ten billion is just the beginning.' Jeff Bezos' net worth is reportedly $232.7 billion. As the founder, former CEO, and current executive chairman of Amazon. His wealth has expanded thanks to owning The Washington Post and Blue Origin. In an interview with CNN, Bezos revealed that he's going to give away a lot of his wealth during his lifetime. 'The hard part is figuring out how to do it in a levered way,' he told the news site. 'It's not easy. Building Amazon was not easy. It took a lot of hard work, a bunch of very smart teammates, hard-working teammates, and I'm finding — and I think Lauren is finding the same thing — that charity, philanthropy, is very similar.' 'There are a bunch of ways that I think you could do ineffective things, too,' he added. 'So you have to think about it carefully and you have to have brilliant people on the team.' Law experts told Page Six that the two had signed a pre-nuptial agreement before their big day in Venice. 'They can get married anywhere as their prenup would generally be drafted to include its enforceability everywhere,' another source told the site. The couple lives in Florida, which means they would have to get a divorce in the state, if they choose to do so. 'Divorce can only happen in the state of the primary residence,' the insider said. 'So if they live in Florida, no matter where they marry or what the prenup says, they would have to divorce in Florida.' Bezos did not have a pre-nup with his ex-wife MacKenzie Scott and she received $38 billion in Amazon stock following their 2019 divorce, making her a 4 percent stakeholder in the company. Many experts have found that Jeff Bezos would have the upper hand in the agreement. 'Lauren might have an interest in keeping her property separate, but it is really Bezos who would benefit from a prenup,' Melcher said. '[Bezos] is also going to want to consider what he's done to terminate his first marriage, because there may be obligations in that that would affect the prenup.' The Real Reason Eva Longoria Didn't Attend BFF Lauren Sanchez's Wedding to Jeff Bezos After Accusing Their Other Guest's Family of ‘Spewing Hate'
There was a notable absence at Lauren Sánchez and Jeff Bezos' wedding. One of the former journalist's closest friends, Eva Longoria, didn't attend the 'wedding of the century,' and the decision raised a lot of eyebrows. Sánchez and Longoria's friendship goes back a while, but several sites like People and Page Six reported that the Desperate Housewives star was seen on a beach in Spain during the nuptials. There seems to be no bad blood between the besties, with Longoria's excuse to missing out on the event being that she's in the middle of filming her CNN series Eva Longoria: Searching for France. The actress' husband, José Bastón, also recently underwent shoulder surgery and was sporting a sling in paparazzi photos. More from StyleCaster Here's if Lauren Sanchez's Ex-Husband 'Knew' of Her Alleged Affair With Jeff Bezos & What He Thinks of the Amazon Founder Now The Real Reason Trump Didn't Attend Jeff Bezos & Lauren Sanchez's Wedding After the Amazon Founder's Complicated History With the President The actress did attend Sánchez's bachelorette party in Paris, France, in May 2025, alongside A-list friends like Katy Perry and Kim Kardashian. 'I had to pop in and out, so I wasn't there as long,' Longoria told People of the party at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. 'But yeah, it's so nice to celebrate love. It's just the best feeling in the world to be there and go, 'Yay, love.''Perry also did not attend the nuptials due to her busy touring schedule in Australia. Notable wedding guests include Perry's ex Orlando Bloom, Oprah Winfrey, Ivanka Trump, and husband Jared Kushner. Longoria, who now primarily lives in Spain and Mexico, criticized the Trump administration when the Donald Trump was elected into office. 'I'm privileged,' the actress told Marie Claire, 'I get to escape and go somewhere. Most Americans aren't so lucky. They're going to be stuck in this dystopian country, and my anxiety and sadness is for them.' Longoria has been a longtime supporter of the Democratic Party and endorsed former Vice President Kamala Harris for the 2024 election. 'The shocking part is not that he won,' she told the outlet. 'It's that a convicted criminal who spews so much hate could hold the highest office.' The Amazon founder and the former Fox Sports anchor attended Trump's inauguration in January 2025. In 2024, Bezos and Sánchez awarded Eva Longoria with the Bezos Courage and Civility Award. 'She has a relentless commitment to making a significant impact through her foundation and her advocacy,' the helicopter entrepreneur told Elle. The two have also bonded about their Mexican-American heritage. 'She's talking about getting the vote out right now; she's supporting civic engagement with Latinos. She does these things called listening tours where she hears from Latinas directly about what the issues are that we really care about. I think her point is, as she says, 'We're tired of the candidates and parties telling us what we care about,' so she's out there hearing directly from the Latinas about the issues that matter to them.' The actress received a $50 million grant to distribute to her favorite charities, including her own, the Eva Longoria Foundation. 'Whether it's economic status, poverty, food insecurity, the environment, there are so many issues we're facing in the world,' Longoria told Elle. 'I love the concept of this award, which is supporting people who are doing great things.'
