The Real Reason Eva Longoria Didn't Attend BFF Lauren Sanchez's Wedding to Jeff Bezos After Accusing Their Other Guest's Family of ‘Spewing Hate'

Yahoo3 days ago
There was a notable absence at Lauren Sánchez and Jeff Bezos' wedding. One of the former journalist's closest friends, Eva Longoria, didn't attend the 'wedding of the century,' and the decision raised a lot of eyebrows.
Sánchez and Longoria's friendship goes back a while, but several sites like People and Page Six reported that the Desperate Housewives star was seen on a beach in Spain during the nuptials. There seems to be no bad blood between the besties, with Longoria's excuse to missing out on the event being that she's in the middle of filming her CNN series Eva Longoria: Searching for France. The actress' husband, José Bastón, also recently underwent shoulder surgery and was sporting a sling in paparazzi photos.

The actress did attend Sánchez's bachelorette party in Paris, France, in May 2025, alongside A-list friends like Katy Perry and Kim Kardashian. 'I had to pop in and out, so I wasn't there as long,' Longoria told People of the party at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. 'But yeah, it's so nice to celebrate love. It's just the best feeling in the world to be there and go, 'Yay, love.''Perry also did not attend the nuptials due to her busy touring schedule in Australia. Notable wedding guests include Perry's ex Orlando Bloom, Oprah Winfrey, Ivanka Trump, and husband Jared Kushner.
Longoria, who now primarily lives in Spain and Mexico, criticized the Trump administration when the Donald Trump was elected into office. 'I'm privileged,' the actress told Marie Claire, 'I get to escape and go somewhere. Most Americans aren't so lucky. They're going to be stuck in this dystopian country, and my anxiety and sadness is for them.'
Longoria has been a longtime supporter of the Democratic Party and endorsed former Vice President Kamala Harris for the 2024 election. 'The shocking part is not that he won,' she told the outlet. 'It's that a convicted criminal who spews so much hate could hold the highest office.' The Amazon founder and the former Fox Sports anchor attended Trump's inauguration in January 2025.
In 2024, Bezos and Sánchez awarded Eva Longoria with the Bezos Courage and Civility Award. 'She has a relentless commitment to making a significant impact through her foundation and her advocacy,' the helicopter entrepreneur told Elle. The two have also bonded about their Mexican-American heritage. 'She's talking about getting the vote out right now; she's supporting civic engagement with Latinos. She does these things called listening tours where she hears from Latinas directly about what the issues are that we really care about. I think her point is, as she says, 'We're tired of the candidates and parties telling us what we care about,' so she's out there hearing directly from the Latinas about the issues that matter to them.'
The actress received a $50 million grant to distribute to her favorite charities, including her own, the Eva Longoria Foundation. 'Whether it's economic status, poverty, food insecurity, the environment, there are so many issues we're facing in the world,' Longoria told Elle. 'I love the concept of this award, which is supporting people who are doing great things.'

'90s Rock Legends Honor Soccer Pro At Reunion Concert After Tragic Death

'90s Rock Legends Honor Soccer Pro At Reunion Concert After Tragic Death originally appeared on Parade. It was an emotional night in Cardiff on July 4, 2025, when legendary English rock band Oasis reunited for the first time in 16 years and paid tribute to Liverpool and Portugal soccer star Diogo Jota, 28, in the process. The '90s rock band, lead by formerly estranged brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher, honored the fallen athlete during their song "Live Forever" at the first night of their Oasis Live '25 Tour by showing his bright red #20 jersey on the screen during the touching song, which includes lyrics like "Now is not the time to cry/Now's the time to find out why/I think you're the same as me/We see things they'll never see/You and I are gonna live forever." The intense moment came after an unbearable tragedy one day prior, when Jota and his 25-year-old brother, André Silva, died in a car accident in Spain. Jota is a father of three who married his longtime love Rute Cardoso just two weeks before the crash. At Oasis' first concert for 16 years, Live Forever is dedicated to Diogo Jota ❤️ — Men in Blazers (@MenInBlazers) July 4, 2025 Jota's team, Liverpool Football Club, took to Instagram with a heartfelt message after news of his passing. "This tragic situation and the reality of it is truly shocking, devastating and has left us numb with grief," they wrote. "Beyond the player that we all knew, was a wonderfully humble human being, he was sincere, intelligent, funny, tough and created connections with people everywhere he went. He had a zest for life that was utterly contagious. Diogo was a loving father, son, husband and brother, and we, and everyone who knew him, will miss him deeply as we all try and process the enormity of today." The Gallaghers are notorious Manchester City fans, so fans were especially touched to see them pay tribute to a member of their rival team. "Touch of class from Oasis at Cardiff tonight for Liverpool's Diogo Jota. Fly high lad, 💔" said one fan, while another added, "Oasis dedicating live forever to Diogo. Fair play to the Gallagher brothers. Unbelievable gesture 👏❤️." The evening was already set to be emotional for the brothers, who have been estranged for years. The July 4 show marked their first concert together in 16 years and first time seen in public together since the band split. They walked out on stage holding hands, and hugged during the performance. Noel even appeared to get emotional during the show. The setlist from the first tour stop was full of fan-favorite hits, including "Wonderwall," "Champagne Supernova," 'Don't Look Back in Anger," and many more. Wimbledon ‘blocked Diogo Jota tribute' from Portuguese player

Wimbledon officials blocked Portugal No 1 Nuno Borges's request to wear a Portugal football shirt on to court in tribute to Diogo Jota, it has been claimed. Borges wore a black ribbon pinned to his hat during Friday's third-round match against Karen Khachanov, but said his team had initially pushed for a more visible tribute. Jota, the Liverpool and Portugal footballer, was killed in a car crash in Spain on Thursday. Advertisement 'I know Wimbledon is usually not very flexible with attire,' Borges said. 'But I was told we could still do something to pay our respects for what happened, so I think it was a nice gesture. He was a great footballer. It was a tragedy.' Borges, who lost a five-set thriller, said his agent contacted Wimbledon about the idea of wearing a Portugal shirt, and even tried to source a white version to comply with dress rules, but it was not approved. 'We initially talked about getting a full jersey to walk on court,' he said. 'I even tried to find one in white, but it was turned down, so we ended up doing something a little smaller.' Asked if Wimbledon should have allowed the shirt, he said: 'I think that's what makes Wimbledon special and different from every other slam, so I really don't know.' Portuguese doubles player Francisco Cabral wore a ribbon on his shirt sleeve - Getty Images/Ezra Shaw Wimbledon relaxed its 148-year-old dress code in light of Jota's death, allowing players to wear black ribbons or armbands. Advertisement Borges was among several players who did, along with fellow Portuguese doubles player Francisco Cabral. Cabral, who wore a ribbon on his shirt sleeve, said: 'Yesterday the idea of wearing a black strap came up – that was not allowed. I asked for permission to use the black ribbon and they let me play with it.' He described it as 'an honour', adding: 'It was not for the best reason – he was an inspiration not only for me but for the country in general. 'He made so much in the sport and conquered so much in my life. If I helped one per cent for the family I will be super happy.' Cabral and Lucas Miedler lost their second-round match in straight sets to Czech pair Petr Nouza and Patrik Rikl. Advertisement Wimbledon's dress code has long restricted visible colour on court, and tributes are rarely granted. The gesture marked a rare moment of flexibility from organisers after the deaths of Jota and his brother Andre Silva, who were killed while travelling to catch a ferry to England. Neal Skupski, the British doubles player and Liverpool fan, had planned to wear a black armband for his match on Thursday, but changed his mind after learning of the death of his grandmother. He said he may wear one 'in the next couple of days'. Broaden your horizons with award-winning British journalism.
