'So, she against his father? 😂 Nice joke,' quipped a commenter to a Facebook (FB) footage by The Star with another chipping in 'Aiyooo … just talk to your father la … very best actor la you all, like father like daughter'.
Over at the Berita Harian FB page, the trolling was even more intense with one commenter wondering 'how could people still be supporting the parti wayang anak-beranak (literally, 'family acting party') with some contending that the eldest daughter of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was sent by her father as 'a spy'.
While some poked fun at her for daring to oppose her father who is also the PKR president, others teased her for 'not inviting her father to tag along'.
An amusing meme of Nurul Izzah's participation in yesterday's walk was that from former UMNO supreme council member Isham Jalil who felt inspired to turn the event into a 'box office movie'.
'It starred Yuyul Jijah. This is the sequel to Ajam Becki's never-ending story,' penned Isham who was fired from UMNO on Dec 7, 2023 for disagreeing to cooperate with DAP in elections.
Editor's Note: Nurul Izzah had on May 16 volunteered to submit objection over the third contract extension of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) head honcho Tan Sri Azam Baki to PMX. She has not furnished any update since then.
On a serious note, the Malaysian Bar president Mohamad Ezri Abdul Wahab has personally handed over the memorandum on safeguarding judicial independence to Datuk Zamri Misman who is the director-general of the Legal Affairs Division at the PMO.
In a nutshell, the 'Walk to Safeguard Judicial Independence' can be described as successful for it was attended by members of the Bar, chambers and concerned members of the public.
Even human rights activist and lawyer Siti Kasim who has been unwell made it a point to participate in the event.

Highlighting specific concerns raised in the memorandum, Ezri pointed out the alarming judicial vacancies.
'Among the matters raised is the need to fill the existing vacancies in the judiciary … We were informed that some cases have been scheduled as far ahead as the year 2030, and this will disrupt the functioning of the courts and negatively affect clients,' he added. – July 15, 2025

Johari Ghani dismisses talk of replacing Anwar, warns against political disruption
KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani has denied claims that he is being touted as a candidate to replace Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as prime minister. The Umno vice-president and Titiwangsa member of parliament instead urged all parties not to disrupt the stability of the unity government. Johari, who is also the plantation and commodities minister, dismissed talk that he had received support from Umno MPs for the position. "How can there be support (for me to be appointed as prime minister) when Umno only has 26 MPs? "I want to say that this unity government is peaceful and stable. Do not disrupt the administration. "If you are not satisfied, wait for the next election (the 16th General Election)," he said at a press conference here today. He was commenting on speculation that he would be appointed as the 11th prime minister, amid claims that Anwar's position as head of the government was under threat. This comes amid rumours that Pandan MP Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli, along with eight other PKR MPs, were planning to defect and throw their support behind Johari for the post. The group of PKR MPs were said to be ready to back BN and Pas MPs, including those from Sabah and Sarawak, to give Johari the mandate to form the Unity Government 2.0. Johari was said to have the support of 68 MPs from Bersatu and Pas for the appointment.

Has Sangetha been trying too hard apple-polishing with PR campaign to repair PMX's ruined image?
PKR Women secretary Sangetha Jayakumar has found herself getting snubbed for having mobilised a so-called digital solidarity campaign among party members to rejuvenate Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's battered public image. The personal effort of the daughter of former PKR vice-president Datuk Dr Xavier Jayakumar entailed sending out WhatsApp messages to PKR party members on a coordinated digital campaign for PMX through social media mobilisation. Claiming that PKR Women chief Fadhlina Sidek had endorsed the campaign, she told Malaysiakini that the 'very much grassroot initiative' centres on positioning PMX as a principled international statesman who has elevated Malaysia's global standing. But the special officer to Fadhlina in her capacity as Education Minister was accused of attempting to apple-polish PMX by Malaysiakini subscribers, many of whom are presumably made up of Pakatan Harapan (PH) loyalists who are disgruntled with the antics of PMX and his Madani government in recent times. 'Hello. Tangachi (younger sister in Tamil) … trying very hard to apple-polish PMX? Aiyo yo pocik (finish in Tamil),' teased one commenter with another labelling Sangetha as 'boot licker' but reminded her to do 'something real as your boss has no boots to lick'. Another commenter told Sangetha to limit her social media campaign to her PKR members given 're-building PMX's reputation and image among the general public is a useless exercise and an insult to the public's intelligence'. 'It's as if we cannot see through the wool you pull before our eyes. Tell your PMX that it's well within his ability to repair his tattered public image. Just consistently do the right thing,' advised the commenter. Another expressed pessimism that 'even a complete makeover will not show PMX differently than what he has shown in the past week'. 'The judicial crisis was created by him … He misjudged the public sentiment,' observed the commenter. 'He has failed as a reformer and has demonstrated that the more meaningful significant and impactful reforms will simply not happen under his watch. 'He tried to pivot criticism by pointing to compliance with process and procedures while the public were screaming adherence to principles and the spirit of the law. It speaks volumes when it's the public who schools him on right and wrong.' As one commenter cynically put it, it may be a tard too late for Sangetha to repair the damage inflicted on PMX's image as Malaysians at large are already pissed off with his untrustworthiness as evident from the mounting trust deficit in him and his Madani administration. – July 17, 2025
