Mahavatar Narsimha director Ashwin Kumar says Muslim viewers told him the film strengthened their faith: ‘I'm not asking you to change your religion'
Produced by Hombale Films and Kleem Productions, Mahavatar Narsimha is the first project from the Mahavatar series, which 'will bring to life the stories of Lord Vishnu's many avatars.'
In an interview with NDTV, Ashwin Kumar claimed that Mahavatar Narsimha isn't catering to only Hindus, but also people of other faiths. 'I've had people from different communities, including many Muslim viewers, come up to me and say that the film strengthened their own faith. I'm not saying go convert your religion. What I'm saying is, you understand what faith is. Whether you pray to a God, believe in energy, or place your trust in the universe, this film simply asks you to surrender to that faith,' he said.
Mahavatar Narsimha revolves around the evil king Hirankashyap, who's been blessed with a special layered immunity from Lord Brahma. After he mistreats his son Prahlada, a devotee of Lord Vishnu, the deity takes the incarnation of Lord Narsimha to save the child. However, Kumar insists Mahavatar Narsimha isn't 'religious.'
'This is not a religious film. It's an interreligious faith film. Because love, it is a universal emotion. So is faith. Hence the film is growing in leaps and bounds,' said the director.
Mahavatar Narsimha will be followed by six other animated films in the Mahavatar series which will revolve around the 10 incarnations of Lord Vishnu. This Mahavatar Cinematic Universe is being backed by Hombale Films, best known for delivering pan-India Kannada blockbusters like Kantara and the KGF franchise. The next installment of the Mahavatar Cinematic Universe will focus on Lord Vishnu's sixth incarnation, Lord Parshurama.

In an exclusive interview with SCREEN, Ashwin Kumar had claimed that he considers Mahavatar Narsimha history, instead of mythology. ''Mythology' is a Greek term which comes from 'mythos,' which means mithya in Sanskrit. Mithya means concocted. I do not feel, in any which way, that we have a concocted past. We have a very strong past. We should celebrate that past, the puranic tales of Bharat,' he said.
'Our puranic tales are very long, deep, and rooted in history. It's about time we access those, feel proud, and build universes for future generations. It's very apparent that it wasn't done that well in the past, but it's about time that we do it now in the way it should be done,' the director added.

War 2 Advance Booking: Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR Actioner Sells 78,000 Tickets In Hindi Chains
Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR's War 2 sells 78K Hindi tickets with a day to go, aiming for a Rs 30–35 crore opening day. With just one day left for its grand release, War 2 is making solid strides at the box office in India. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, the high-octane action drama stars Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani in pivotal roles. The Hindi version's advance bookings have been performing well, with momentum picking up after ticket sales opened in the southern states. In the top cinema chains — PVRInox and Cinepolis — War 2 has already sold 78,000 tickets for its Thursday opening, with the final figure expected to land between 1.5 to 1.75 lakh tickets. This strong pre-release response sets the stage for an opening day in the Rs 30–35 crore net range for the Hindi version alone. Telugu States Bookings Begin Strong for Jr NTR Fans In the Telugu-speaking states, bookings for War 2 have started on a promising note, largely driven by Jr NTR's fanbase. While the numbers won't match typical Tollywood blockbusters — given the film's positioning as a Bollywood project — they remain 'pretty solid." Industry trackers predict that the Telugu-dubbed version could secure the third-highest Bollywood opening in the region, behind Saaho and Adipurush. The Independence Day holiday on Day 2 offers a major boost opportunity, with War 2 aiming for Rs 50 crore-plus net collections in Hindi on Friday. The film's clash with Rajinikanth's Coolie wasn't initially considered a major concern. However, Coolie's strong pre-release momentum in certain markets has slightly tightened the race. International Bookings Off to a Moderate Start While domestic sales are encouraging, War 2's international advance bookings remain modest. Current estimates point to a USD 2.5 million opening day and USD 8 million opening weekend overseas. Globally, the film is tracking for an opening weekend in the Rs 300–350 crore range. By comparison, Coolie appears on course to approach Rs 400 crore worldwide. With massive star power, slick action, and the backing of a major franchise, all eyes are now on audience word-of-mouth. Positive reviews could be the key factor that pushes War 2 towards record-breaking numbers both domestically and internationally. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Aur maata pita ke saath gaye the, woh avsar main abhi tak nahi bhoola hum jis tarah aap nahi bhule hai. Thodi si kamayi hogayi thi, toh le gaya unko wahan. Bada darr laga tha yaar, ye bada restaurant hai yahan bade log jaate hain, hum log nahi jaa paayenge. Agar jaayenge toh log kaise humko dekhenge, kya hoga, kapde humare kaise honge? kaun kya kahega, ye sab mann mein chalta hai, toh hum aapki awastha ko samajh sakte hain. " (This man sitting in front of you also had a day like that when he ate at a restaurant for the first time. Moti Mahal is a very fine restaurant in Delhi, and I went there for the first time in my life — and that too after I had finished college. I went with my parents, and I still haven't forgotten that moment, just like you haven't forgotten yours. I had earned a little by then, so I took them there. But I was very nervous — thinking this is a big restaurant where only well-off people go, and that we wouldn't fit in. If we went, how would people look at us? What would happen? How would our clothes be? What would people say? All these thoughts ran through my mind, so I can completely understand your situation.) Did you know that Amitabh Bachchan didn't get his name from his parents?
