Wife suspects of husband's affair after asking ChatGPT to read their coffee cups, files for divorce
In an extraordinary blend of old-world superstition and modern technology, a Greek woman filed for divorce after an AI chatbot allegedly revealed her husband's infidelity. How? By interpreting coffee grounds! The woman, married for 12 years and mother of two, used

According to the Greek City Times, the husband said that his wife had always been drawn to spiritual trends and mystical fads. He explained that she often tries out the "trendy things". Recalling the incident, he said that one day, she made Greek coffee for them both and thought it would be fun to take pictures of the cups and make ChatGPT read them.

What happened?
What started as lighthearted fun took a sharp and bizarre turn when the AI-generated reading allegedly indicated that he was fantasizing about a mysterious woman whose name began with the letter 'E' and that he was destined to begin a relationship with her. His wife's cup, meanwhile, reportedly revealed a more darker prediction: that he was already having an affair, and the 'other woman' was intent on destroying their family.
While the husband laughed it off as "nonsense", the wife took it pretty seriously. She asked him to leave and informed their kids that the couple were headed for a divorce. Next, he got a call from a lawyer and that's when he realised that it was not just a "phase" for her. He was served with formal divorce papers just three days later after refusing to agree to a mutual separation.
The husband revealed that his wife's belief in supernatural practices had previously caused turmoil in their lives. He recalled an earlier incident when she became deeply influenced by an astrologer's predictions, and it took nearly a year for her to come to terms with the fact that none of it was grounded in reality.
His lawyer, now representing him in the unfolding legal case, clarified that AI-generated fortune readings hold no legal weight and reaffirmed the principle of 'innocent until proven guilty.'

Anti-terrorist squad deployed in Puri ahead of Rath
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Police, for the first time, deployed an anti-terrorist squad (ATS) in Puri ahead of the June 27 Rath Yatra with the govt anticipating over 10 lakh people, including potential VVIP guests such as Union ministers and chief ministers from NDA-governed states, likely to attend the event. Deployment of ATS is significant given the current Indo-Pak relations and the govt sending out invitations to the president, prime minister and various state chief ministers for the annual celebration. The ATS, consisting of urban warfare-trained commandos from Odisha Police's special tactical group, took positions outside Jagannath Temple on Tuesday, a day before Wednesday's Debasnan Purnima ceremony, an essential pre-Rath Yatra festival. Odisha Police recently positioned Rakshak, an armoured vehicle with bullet-proof capabilities, outside the temple. This vehicle is designed to resist intense artillery fire and explosive devices. "The ATS deployment has enhanced our counter-terrorism capabilities at this strategic installation. Their presence will supplement our overall security arrangements for Debasnan Purnima on Wednesday and Rath Yatra on June 27. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo Safety of the temple and devotees is our priority," Puri SP Vinit Agrawal said. IGP (central range) S Praveen Kumar and Agrawal inspected security arrangements for Debasnan Purnima. On the occasion of Debasnan Purnima, the sibling deities — Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra — would be given a ceremonial bath on Snan Mandap (bathing dais) on the shrine premises and would appear in Hati Besha in the evening. The temple administration has urged servitors not to stand in front of the idols. Devotees have been asked not to touch the deities during darshan. "We expect heavy footfall of devotees like last year. Convenience of devotees and smooth darshan is our priority. Nearly 70 platoons of police force have been deployed for security, crowd management and traffic regulation," Kumar said. Anticipating over 10 lakh devotees on Rath Yatra, Odisha Police have also emphasised on comprehensive CCTV monitoring. "Live surveillance using AI-enabled cameras and crowd control would be essential for public safety. We are also laying focus on gathering intelligence and securing the Puri coastline against possible threats," a senior police officer said.

France's Mistral unveils its first 'reasoning' AI model
French artificial intelligence startup Mistral on Tuesday announced a so-called "reasoning" model it said was capable of working through complex problems, following in the footsteps of top US developers. Available immediately on the company's platforms as well as the AI platform Hugging Face, the Magistral "is designed to think things through -- in ways familiar to us," Mistral said in a blog post. The AI was designed for "general purpose use requiring longer thought processing and better accuracy" than its previous generations of large language models (LLMs), the company other "reasoning" models, Magistral displays a so-called "chain of thought" that purports to show how the system is approaching a problem given to it in natural means users in fields like law, finance, healthcare and government would receive "traceable reasoning that meets compliance requirements" as "every conclusion can be traced back through its logical steps", Mistral said. The company's claim gestures towards the challenge of so-called "interpretability" -- working out how AI systems arrive at a given response. Since they are "trained" on gigantic corpuses of data rather than directly programmed by humans, much behaviour by AI systems remains impenetrable even to their also vaunted improved performance in software coding and creative writing by Magistral. Competing "reasoning" models include OpenAI's o3, some versions of Google's Gemini and Anthropic's Claude, or Chinese challenger DeepSeek's R1. The idea that AIs can "reason" was called into question this week by Apple -- the tech giant that has struggled to match achievements by leaders in the Apple researchers published a paper called "The Illusion of Thinking" that claimed to find "fundamental limitations in current models" which "fail to develop generalizable reasoning capabilities beyond certain complexity thresholds".
