Director Chong Keat Aun & 'Pavane For An Infant' Cast To Make Appearance In KL This Weekend
According to reports, the filmmaker will make an appearance at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur on 10th August 2025 (Sunday) for the gala premiere of 'Pavane For An Infant'. The movie will release in local theatres on 14th August 2025 (Thursday). Chong Keat Aun will appear at the Bukit Bintang mall to meet and greet fans on the red carpet. Joining him are the movie's main stars, Fish Liew (廖子妤) and Natalie Hsu (許恩怡).
The movie will continue its press tour on 11th August 2025 (Monday) with appearances at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), Sungei Long Campus and Oneworld Hanxin College. Chong Keat Aun, Fish Liew and Natalie Hsu will also hold on-air interviews with a couple of local radio stations. 'Pavane for an Infant' is Chong Keat Aun's third feature film and had its world premiere at the Tokyo International Film Festival 2024. The film follows the workers of a baby hatch facility in Kuala Lumpur, exploring the challenges women face in Malaysia's male-dominated society. He was awarded the RISE Educator Award 2025, earning RM5, 000 personally and securing RM50, 000 in funding for his school. Advertisement The award, organised by Taylor's College, celebrates educators making exceptional impact in Malaysian classrooms. Working with visually and hearing-impaired students, Stefanus has revolutionised music education by establishing a specialised music room and forming a student boy band despite limited resources. His innovative approach gives students with disabilities a platform to express themselves and build confidence through music. 'To many, music may seem like a luxury but to my students, it is a lifeline,' said Stefanus. The competition drew over 1,000 nominations nationwide and attracted more than 65,000 public votes. Five finalists were selected through a combination of public voting and evaluation by a distinguished panel including officials from the Ministry of Education. Stefanus plans to use the funding to create Sabah's first student ensemble combining traditional and modern instruments, and to build a dedicated music space for deaf learners. School headmaster Muhammad Hamka Eallie praised Stefanus's work, saying he has transformed how the school views learning and inclusion. 'He does not see their disabilities but rather he sees their potential,' said Hamka. The award ceremony was graced by Deputy Educational Resources and Technology Division Director Fadzliaton Zainudin at the Ministry of Education Malaysia, who delivered a keynote address to commemorate the occasion. 'Taylor's College has consistently championed quality education by recognising and supporting the incredible efforts of educators on the ground. 'The RISE Educator Award highlights how real change often starts with small, consistent acts of care and dedication,' she said. She said Ministry of Education commends Taylor's College for establishing a platform that goes beyond recognising outstanding educators but one that also fosters collaboration, inspires innovation and encourages the exchange of impactful practices that uplift our schools and communities. Meanwhile, Taylor's College Campus Director Josephine Tan said that over the past five years, the RISE Educator Award has revealed the remarkable resilience and creativity of teachers who quietly transform the meaning of education. 'These educators do not wait for ideal conditions, they create opportunities with what they have. What drives them is not just innovation, but deep purpose and belief in their students. Many even fund their own projects, expecting little recognition in return,' she said. 'The RISE Educator Award has grown into more than just a reward, it is now a platform that brings educators, communities and change makers together to celebrate impact, exchange ideas and inspire one another. Taiwan-based Malaysian singer Gary Chaw reportedly hasn't moved on from ex-wife: 'Still in pain'
It's been nearly three years since Malaysian singer Gary Chaw divorced Taiwanese fashion blogger Wu Shuling, but it seems he hasn't fully moved on. The 46-year-old recently shared on Xiaohongshu (Red Note) a video of himself singing his 2019 song I'm Just A Fool – a ballad in which he confronts his shortcomings and expresses his unconditional devotion. The post quickly drew attention, with many netizens praising Chaw's soulful vocals, while others shared how the performance evoked a deep sense of nostalgia. According to China Press, Chaw also left two comments about Wu under his video. The former couple, who divorced in November 2022 after 14 years of marriage, share two children – Joe, 16, and Grace, 14. 'I still haven't forgotten Shuling,' read one of the comments. 'Actually, I'm still in pain,' he wrote in another. It's reported that Chaw later deleted both comments mentioning Wu. This isn't the first time the singer has shown that he's still struggling to move on. In July 2023, Chaw made a series of Instagram posts about his ex-wife and their children – including a throwback wedding photo of him and Wu smiling blissfully. 'I'm messed up... But I still love her,' he wrote at that time. A few months later, while performing his song Zhang Wen during a concert in Taipei, Chaw altered the original lyric 'There is no winning or losing' to 'There is no Shuling'.
