Director Chong Keat Aun & 'Pavane For An Infant' Cast To Make Appearance In KL This Weekend

Malaysian-born director Chong Keat Aun (張吉安) has been making international waves with his works, gaining recognition with movies like 'The Story Of Southern Islet (南巫)' and 'Snow In Midsummer (五月雪)'. Now, local fans of the director can meet him in person at the Malaysian gala premiere of his movie 'Pavane For An Infant (搖籃凡世)'. According to reports, the filmmaker will make an appearance at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur on 10th August 2025 (Sunday) for the gala premiere of 'Pavane For An Infant'. The movie will release in local theatres on 14th August 2025 (Thursday). Chong Keat Aun will appear at the Bukit Bintang mall to meet and greet fans on the red carpet. Joining him are the movie's main stars, Fish Liew (廖子妤) and Natalie Hsu (許恩怡). The movie will continue its press tour on 11th August 2025 (Monday) with appearances at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), Sungei Long Campus and Oneworld Hanxin College. Chong Keat Aun, Fish Liew and Natalie Hsu will also hold on-air interviews with a couple of local radio stations. 'Pavane for an Infant' is Chong Keat Aun's third feature film and had its world premiere at the Tokyo International Film Festival 2024. The film follows the workers of a baby hatch facility in Kuala Lumpur, exploring the challenges women face in Malaysia's male-dominated society. The movie also stars Ben Yuen (袁富華), Pearlly Chua (蔡寶珠), Yuan Teng (原騰) and Jasmine Suraya. Organised by Thousands of Years Media (ToYm), seventeen-year-old Ooi Tianjia stole the spotlight and was crowned Male Idol Champion at the the highly anticipated ToYm Shining Star Idol Competition. Meanwhile, 23-year-old Ng Xin Yi, adored for her charm and soaring popularity, was named Female Idol Champion and also took home the coveted Most Popular Award—making her the only double-title winner of the night. Jment Lim, Founder of Thousands of Years Media and SunStrong Entertainment, delivered a keynote speech during the event, celebrating the success of ToYm's debut micro drama, In Character, which received overwhelming positive response. Buoyed by this milestone, he expressed strong confidence in Malaysia's micro drama market and announced plans to produce more than five new Chinese and Malay-language micro drama series. This initiative aims to accelerate the growth of local original content while nurturing the next generation of acting talent and digital storytellers. In the Male Idol category, Ooi Tianjia captivated with his dynamic versatility—starting with an emotional self-composed ballad on guitar, then seamlessly transitioning into a high-energy rendition of Billie Jean with a Latin dance twist. His rich performance, blending vocal ability, musicality, and commanding stage presence, earned him the championship crown. As Male Idol Champion, Ooi Tianjia received a RM30,000 cash prize, a ToYm talent contract, and a limited-edition trophy—marking the beginning of a promising journey in the entertainment industry. In the Female Idol category, Ng Xin Yi stunned the audience with her radiant stage presence and confident smile. Her modern dance routine, executed with precision and power, dazzled the judges and ignited the crowd. Her immense popularity throughout the evening earned her the highest number of audience votes, securing her the Most Popular Award as well. With a total of RM40,000 in cash prizes, a ToYm talent contract, and a limited-edition trophy, Ng Xin Yi emerged as the most celebrated star of the night. The 1st Runner-Up titles went to Aeron Jeszel Iskandar (Male) and Sherlyn Poh (Female), each receiving RM20,000 in cash, a ToYm talent contract, and a trophy. Chee Lim Peng and Bell (Nabila Balqis) were awarded 2nd Runner-Up, taking home RM15,000, a talent contract, and a trophy. Three Consolation Award winners were recognised in each category, each receiving RM5,000, a ToYm talent contract, and a trophy. In the Male Idol category, the recipients were Iyad Sanim, Lee Yee Keat (Purple YK)—who also won the Best Talent Award worth RM10,000—and Kayson Loh Zhong Kai, who claimed the Most Popular Social Media Personality Award (RM10,000). For the Female Idol category, the awardees were Jennifer Ong Wei Ying, Carmen Lee Jia, and Charmaine Chan Yun Xuan. Adding a powerful musical highlight to the evening, the competition featured a special performance by Fatimah Noryyah, the first artist promoted under Thousands of Years Media.
